1.Evaluation on Physical Performance of the Patients with Lumbar Disc Herniation(review)
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2006;12(11):975-977
Physical performance is an ability with which the sufferers of lumbar disc herniation(LDH) achieve daily work and basic physical activity, including daily activities(such as the diverting movement from standing to sitting),functioning state of nerves and muscles, dailyworking ability and walking gait, etc.;abilities of body performance relative to pains, such as walking ten meters with loads,sit-stand test and Tread mill walk, etc. Most of current rehabilitation evaluation may be influenced by the subjective factors of the examinee or the examiner, but intelligent device for energy expenditure and activity(IDEEA) may be helpful to evaluate physical performance of the LDH patients in a complete,quantity-fixing,systematic and dynamic way.

OBJECTIVETo investigate clinical outcomes of tendon allograft reconstruction with arthroscopy minimally invasive technique at stage I for the treatment of knee dislocation with multiple ligaments injury.
METHODSForty-eight patients with knee dislocation were reconstructed anterior and posterior ligament under arthroscopy at stage I from January 2008 to January 2012, and repaired ligaments injury of knee joint by minimally invasive technique. There were 38 males and 10 females aged from 20 to 59 years old with an average of 35.6 years old; 22 cases on the left side and 26 cases on the right side; the time from injury to operation ranged from 2 d to 2 weeks. Two cases combined with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), medial collateral ligament (MCL) and posterolateral complex injuries, 36 cases combined with ACL, PCL, and MCL injuries, 10 cases combined with ACL, PCL and PLC injuries; 4 cases combined with peroneal nerve injury. Lysholm scoring were used to compared the cases before operation and final following-up to evaluate knee function.
RESULTSAll patients were followed up from 12 to 30 months with an average of (18.2 ± 6.3) months. Activity and stability of joint were obviously improved. Lysholm score were improved from 40.3 ± 4.1 before operation to 87.0 ± 6.4 at final following-up.
CONCLUSIONReconstruction with arthroscopy minimally invasive technique at stage I for the treatment of knee dislocation with multiple ligaments injury could recover stability of joint better, reserve joint function. Preoperative training and postoperative individualized rehabilitation treatment is the key point of recover knee joint function.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2013;33(5):703-707
OBJECTIVETo screen the regulatory proteins involved in Nox1 promoter activation in a cell model of inflammation and oxidative stress.
METHODSA cell model of inflammation and oxidative stress was established by stimulating A549 cells with tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). The differential proteins binding to Nox1 promoter were screened by DNA pull-down and the binding proteins were separated by 2D electrophoresis and selected according to the their differential expression levels (with over 1.5-fold changes relative to the control level). The screened proteins were finally identified by MALDI-TOF/TOF-MS.
RESULTSSeven differentially expressed protein spots (all upregulated in the cell model) were obtained, among which GLE1, DDX19A, KRT1 and KRT10 were identified by mass spectrometry.
CONCLUSIONGLE1, DDX19A, KRT1 and KRT10 participate in the activation of Nox1 promoter in TNF-α-induced A549 cells, and this result provides new insights into the biological roles of the regulatory proteins of Nox1 promoter in inflammation and oxidative stress.

Objective To investigate the effects of propofol on brain injury induced by intestinal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) in rats. Methods Forty-eight adult male Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 250-300 g,were randomly allocated to one of 3 groups (n =16 each) using a random number table:sham operation group (group Sham),I/R group, and propofol group (group P).Intestinal I/R was produced by occlusion of the superior mesenteric artery for 90 min followed by reperfusion. In group P,propofol 50 mg/kg was injected intraperitoneally at 30 min before reperfusion, and the equal volume of fat emulsion was given in the other two groups.Blood samples were collected at 24 h of reperfusion for determination of serum tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1beta (IL-1β) concentrations. The cerebral cortex and hippocampus were isolated for measurement of TNF-α and IL-1β mRNA expression (by real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity (using colorimetric method).Morris water maze test was carried out at 1,3 and 5 days of reperfusion. Results Compared with group Sham, the serum TNF-α and IL-1β concentrations were significantly increased, the expression of TNF-o and IL-1β mRNA in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus was up-regulated,the MPO activity was increased, and the escape latency was prolonged, and the frequency of crossing the original platform was decreased during reperfusion in group I/R (P<0.05).In group I/R,the concentrations of serum TNF-αand IL-1β were significantly decreased, thc cxpression of TNF-α and IL-1β mRNA in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus was down-regulated,and the escape latency was shortened, and the frequency of crossing the original platform was increased during reperfusion (P<0.05),and no significant change was found in MPO activity in group P (P>0.05).Conclusion Propofol reduces brain injury induced by intestinal I/R through inhibiting systemic and local inflammatory responses in rats.

Abstract?AlM:To analyze of the clinical features of acute retinal pigment epitheltis ( ARPE) .?METHODS: The clinical data of 36 ARPE patients ( 40 eyes) attending this center from January 2008 to January 2014 were reviewed retrospectively. Of them, 21 patients (58.3%) were male (male :female=1:0. 71). The mean age was 40. 92±7. 13 years old (range:17~60y). The mean best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 0. 50±0. 26 with a range of 0. 3 ~ 1. 0. Thirty-two patients were unilateral cases. All the patients were examined for BCVA, funds photography, fluorescein fundus angiography ( FFA ) , optical coherence tomography ( OCT) . FFA was shown as three types: type ▏ to multiple black light or grape variety fluorescent spot; Type II for l lesions visible fluorescence leakage; Type Ⅲ lesions with choroid neovascularization ( CNV ) . OCT was the following three forms: multiple RPE lesions layer reflection intermittent, proliferation ( type ▏); pigment epithelial detachment with limitations neural epithelium ( typeII);types l and ll with CNV ( type Ⅲ) .?RESULTS: Ocular fundus showed that the lesions were multiple dark-gray spots with a dark circumscribed area at the macular or nearby in all 40 eyes. FFA showed:21 eyes were type ▏, 17 eyes were type II and 2 eyes were typeⅢ, BCVA between type ▏ and type II was statistically significant (P<0. 05), the same was between type 芋. BCVA between different cases in the same type and between type II, Ⅲ, was no statistical difference ( P>0. 05). OCT showed 21 eyes wwere type ▏, 17 eyes were type II and type Ⅲ 2 eyes. BCVA average between type▏ andIIwas statistically significant (P<0. 05). The mean BCVA was no statistically significant difference between type II and Ⅲ patients (P>0. 05).?CONCLUSlON:ARPE fundus demonstrated the multiple dark gray discrete lesions, the degree of visual impairment related with the presence of pigment epithelial barrier and lesion location. OCT and FFA characterized three types. FFA is shown asblack light orgrape variety fluorescent spot, and is the basis of diagnosis. OCT can display the lesions organization form of each layer clearly. lt plays a more and more important role in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of ARPE.

Objective To determine the variation of bone mineral density(BMD)and bone mineral content (BMC)in cadaveric lumbar vertebrae and investigate their significance in determining fracture modes and biomecha- nical properties. Methods The lumbar motion segments of the spines of 19 cadavers(mean age:56 years)were compressed to failure. The BMD and BMC of the cranial and caudal endplates were determined, along with the BMD and BMC of the upper and lower 1/3 transverse sub-endplate layers and the middle 1/3 transverse layer. The anteri- or,middle and posterior 1/3 vertical parts, anterior and posterior 1/2 vertical parts and the whole BMD and BMC were measured by using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry as well. All the data were analyzed statistically. Results Among the 19 segments, macrography after dissection revealed that 16 had been fractured, about 84.2%.The frac- ture always occurred in the centre or in the anterior part of the endplate.Within a vertebral body, the BMD and BMC of the cranial endplate were less than those of the caudal endplate, and the cranial 1/3 transverse layer and middle layer had lower BMD and BMC readings than the caudal layer. For the vertical region, from the anterior 1/3 to the posterior 1/3,or from the anterior 1/2 to the posterior 1/2,the BMD and BMC increased. For the endplate around the disc, the BMD of upper endplate was higher than that of the lower one,but the BMCs were equal. In one motion segment, the failure load correlated positively with BMD,and with the BMC of the endplate and the sub-endplate bone. Conclusion The variations in BMD and BMC within a vertebra and around a disc can explain why vertebral fractures are concentrated on the upper endplate, and why compressive fractures are always wedge-shaped.This un- derstanding can assist in the placement of inter-vertebral spacers.
