ObjectiveTo establish a method to induce heterotopic ossification (HO) after spinal cord injury. Methods10 New Zealand White rabbits underwent a complete transection of the thoracic (T10) spinal cord. Just after transection, the right hind limb of every rabbit was immobilized with a plaster support to keep the knee in extension and the hip unrestricted. The plaster was temporarily removed once a day (six times per week) to allow the knees passively mobilized at the maximum range for 5 min. Local swelling, local skin temperature and grade of ossification of the paraplegic limbs were observed. After 5 weeks, the rabbits were sacrificed, and the quadriceps muscles of the right hind limbs were removed for the histological examination. ResultsAfter 5-week immobilization and temporary passive mobilization, HO was successfully induced in all 10 rabbits. There was local skin temperature increase and local swelling in the right hind limbs. The histological changes were similar to those observed in clinical HO. Conclusion5-week immobilization and temporary passive mobilization approach may successfully induce HO, and it may be used to study the pathogenesis of HO after spinal cord injury.

OBJECTIVE: To establish a method of fingerprint position, sample transfer and fingerprint DNA extraction in contact samples. METHODS: Sixty-six cases were visualized by 502 glue fingerprint fumigation. Two methods, ordinary wipe and acetone wipe, were used to transfer cast-off cells of fingerprints from testing samples, respectively. DNA was extracted and purified by ultramicro magnetic bead kit. The data was resolved on genetic analysis after amplification. RESULTS: In 33 samples, 30 samples got better STR analysis by acetone wipe method. The peak range was 1,000-4,000 RFU and peak shapes were equable. It was hard to get ideal STR typing by ordinary wipe method. CONCLUSION The samples are visualized by 502 glue fingerprint fumigation and the case-off cells are transferred by acetone wipe method. The method shows better STR analysis result, which might be a better method for forensic science practice.

Objective To compare the analgesic efficacy and safety of the sole local anesthetic ropivacaine with the combination of both local anesthetic ropivacaine and opioidergic analgesic sufen-tanil given epidurally on the labor pain control.Methods After institutional review board approval and patient consent,a total of 481 nulliparas requesting epidural labor analgesia were randomized into two groups:a sole local anesthetic group (0.125% ropivacaine,group R)and a combination of local anesthetic and opioidergic analgesic group (0.125% ropivacaine+0.3 μg/ml sufentanil,group RS). Analgesic efficacy was measured using numerical rating scale (NRS)of pain and maternal visual ana-logue scale (VAS)analgesia satisfaction with regard to the first and the second stage of labor.Anal-gesic safety was measured with the Bromage scale of maternal safety and epidural labor analgesia re-lated side effects,as well as fetal safety including Apgar scoring and umbilical cord artery blood gas a-nalysis.Results A total of 346 participants completed the study,with 1 64 and 182 women in each group R and RS,respectively.The median NRS pain score during the first stage of labor was signifi-cantly lower in the combination group (2.2,IQR:1.8-2.7 )comparing to the sole local analgesic group (2.4,IQR:2-2.8)(P <0.001).No significant difference was observed in NRS pain score dur-ing the second stage of labor.Patients in both groups were rated the same VAS satisfaction of analge-sia.Patients in the sole local analgesic group experienced fewer side effects than those in the combina-tion group (37.7% versus 47.2%,P =0.082).The incidence of 1-min Apgar≤7 was lower in the sole local analgesic group 2 (1.2%) than the combination group 10 (5.5%) (P < 0.05 ). Conclusion The sole local anesthetic ropivacaine produces a comparable labor analgesic effect as the combination of both local anesthetic ropivacaine and opioidergic analgesic sufentanil but the former has less maternal side effects,and less incidence of lower 1-min Apgar scoring.

Salvia miltiorrhiza bunge (Dan shen in Chinese)is extracted from dried roots and rhizomes of Labiatae Salvia.Tan-shinones are the main lipid-soluble components in Salvia,each has specific pharmacological activity.This review focuses on the research progress of Tanshinones on cardiovascular diseases,an-ti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, anti-tumor effect,hepatocyte protection and neuroprotective effects.Thera-peutic effects and mechanisms of Tanshinones on diverse disea-ses are summarized,pharmacokinetics and pharmaceutic evalua-tion were concluded.This review provides a global understand-ing about Tanshinones as a class of effective and promising can-didates for further studies,and lays a foundation for developing new Tanshinone-based agents according to the characteristics of Tanshinones.

To study the pharmacokinetic effect of different combined administration with monarch drug Ziziphi Spinosae Semen on its main components in rats. Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into Ziziphi Spinosae Semen group, Ziziphi Spinosae Semen-Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis group, Ziziphi spinosae Semen-Salviae Miltiorrhize Radix et Rhizoma group and Zaoren Ansheng prescription group. After oral administration, HPLC was eluted with the mobile phase of acetonitrle-0.03% phosphate acid water in a gradient mode. The detection wavelength was 280 nm. The pharmacokinetic parameters of spinosin and ferulic acid were calculated by DAS 2. 0 software. Compared with Ziziphi Spinosae Semen group, Ziziphi Spinosae Semen-Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis group, Ziziphi Spinosae Semen-Salviae miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma group showed a lower maximum plasma concentration (C(max)) and area under curve (AUC(0-t)) for spinosin and ferulic acid but higher clearance speed (CL/F); whereas the Zaoren Ansheng prescription group showed higher maximum plasma concentration (C(max)) and area under curve (AUC(0-t)) for spinosin and ferulic acid but lower clearance speed (CL/F). Objective To observe the analgesic efficacy of epidural morphine for postpartum perineal pain in patients undergoing episiotomy.Methods After institutional reviewing board approval and patient consent,a total of 145 parturients requesting epidural labor analgesia and under-going episiotomy were randomized into three groups:M1,M2,and C,where in morphine 1 mg dis-solved in saline 10 ml,morphine 2 mg dissolved in saline 10 ml,or sole saline 10 ml was epidurally given immediately after umbilical cord clamp,respectively.Perineal pain at rest and movement within 24 hours after vaginal delivery were evaluated with present pain intensity (PPI).Further,the time in-terval between a moderate or severe PPI and epidural drug treatment were recorded.Besides,epidural morphine related side effects including nausea,vomiting,pruritus,and urinary retention were ob-served as well.Results The proportion of patients with moderate or severe pain at rest was signifi-cantly lower in group M2 (2.1%)compared to group M1 (15.7)and group C (19.1%)(P <0.05). Further,the time interval between a moderate or severe PPI and epidural drug treatment was signifi-cantly longer in group M2 (15.7±1.4 h)compared to group M1 (11.0±0.9 h)and group C (11.0 ±1.0 h)(P <0.05).No significant difference was found between groups M1 and group C with regard to morphine efficacy.However,the accumulated side effects including nausea,vomiting,pruritus, and urinary retention prominently increased in group M2 (102.1%)compared to group M1 (43.1%) and group C (12.8%)(P <0.05).Conclusion Although epidural morphine 2 mg may significantly decrease and postpone the occurrence of moderate or severe postpartum perineal pain,however,it de-serves consideration before clinical use owing to the increased side effects.

Objective To understand the distribution of inhaled allergens throughout Hainan province and explore effective preventive measures against allergen by examining the serum allergen of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), which will provide evidence for specific immunotherapy for treating CRS. Methods Three hundred and eighteen CRS patients underwent Phadiatop blood test by using the UniCAP 100 , a completely automatic autoanalyser. Allergen-specific IgE of 7 common allergens were tested and the concentration of total immunoglobulin E (TIgE) was collected and evaluated. Results The positive rates of the serum TIgE and inhaled allergens were 64.15% and 37.74% respectively. The incidences of the positive serum SIgE is 33.96%. Among the positive cases, 28.30% of the inhaled allergens were dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, 27.36% for tropical mites, 21.07% for dermatophagoides farinae, 13.52% for cockroach, 11. 64% for house dust, 7. 86% for cat dander and 0.63% for dog dander. The incidences of positive TIgE and SIgE were not significantly different between patients with nasal polyps and sinusitis only. Conclusions Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, tropical mites and dermatophagoides farinae are the main inhaled allergens for CRS patients in Hainan.
