Chinese Traditional Patent Medicine 1992;0(10):-
AIM:To establish quality control method for Breviscapine(Orally) Disintegrating Tablets. METHODS: Its main ingredient scutellarin was identified by TLC, the scutellarin in the tablets was determined by HPLC.And the disintegration, dissolution rate and tablet weights were determined. RESULTS: Breviscapine(Orally) Disintegrating Tablets could be disintegrated in 30 seconds, and the tablet weight was fit for the criterion. And the dissolution rate was more quick than the original Breviscapine tablets in the market.A good linearity was obtained within the range of 0.081 6 ?g-0.408 0 ?g with the correlation coefficient(0.999 9.) The recovery was(99.67%) and RSD was 0.47%. CONCLUSION: The method for identifying and determing Breviscapine Orally Disintegrating Tablets is simple, reproducible and practical.

Objective To investigate the imaging characters of abdominal cocoon. Methods Six cases of abdominal cocoon proved by surgery and pathologic findings were retrospectively analyzed. Abdominal plain X-ray and CT were performed in 6 cases. The gastrointestinal barium meal series were undergone in 4 cases. The imaging findings were analyzed. Results Abdominal plain X-ray suggested intestinal obstruction in 3 of 6 cases. The gastrointestinal barium meal showed"cauliflower sign"or "concertina pattern"in all of the 4 cases;CT images revealed a conglomeration of multiple small bowel loops in all 6 cases and the intestinal loops seemed to be encapsulated in a membranelike sac. Conclusion The imaging features of gastrointestinal barium meal and CT scan could suggest the diagnose of abdominal cocoon.

Objective To explore the therapeutic mechanism of kidney-reinforcing,blood-activating and phlegmresolving therapy for left ventricular fibrosis of spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR).Methods Twenty SHR were randomly assigned to Chinese medicine group and model group.Additionally, ten Wistar-Kyoto(WKY) rats served as normal control group. After 12-week prevention,Masson staining method was used to measure the degree of fibrosis of left ventricular myocardial tissues, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) was used to detect Smad3 mRNA expression, and Western blotting method was used for the detection of Smad3 protein expression. Results The degree of left ventricular fibrosis myocardial tissue in Chinese medicine group was milder than that in the model group, and Samd3 protein and mRNA expression levels in Chinese medicine group were lower than those in the model group (P < 0.05).Conclusion Kidney-reinforcing,blood-activating and phlegmresolving therapy can improve left ventricular fibrosis in SHR by inhibiting Smad3 expression.

Objective To analyze the mutation of PreS-S region in occult hepatitis B virus(OHBV) in HBV infected persons with positive HBsAb and investigate the biological mechanisms of the special infectious model. Methods A total of 38 HB-sAb positive OBI serum samples were amplified by Nested PCR and sequenced,HBV genotype and serotype were determined. The amino acid sequences of OHBV were compared to the corresponding sequence of wild-type strains of similar genotype obtained from the GenBank database. Results PreS-S segment of 11 samples were obtained and 8 samples were sequenced successfully.Among which,5 were genotype C and 3 were genotype B.Genotype B were all serotype adw, while genotype C were 1 adw and 4 adr.The mutation rates of PreS-S region, the immunoreactive area and the major hydrophilic region (MHR) were higher in OHBV than the wild-type strains (2.6% vs 0.8%,x2 =40.23,3.2% vs 0.3%,x2 =52.13,3.6% vs 0.6%,x2 =13.25,all P<0.01) and the substitutions of I126T,Q129R,M133T,F134I,D144E,G145K in α determinant were found in OBI samples. The mutation rate of amino acids in PreS-S region was higher in genotype C than genotype B (3.5% vs 1.2%,x2--15.98,P<0.01),meanwhile,the mutation rates in MHR,α determinant and immunoreactive region were higher in genotype C too,but no statistical significance was attained (4.7% vs 1.7 %,x2 =2.96,3.6 % vs 2.9%,x2 =0.25,4.1% vs 2.3%,x2 =3.59,all P >0.05).Conclusion Mutations in PreS-S region, especially in immunoepitope, might change the virus'immunogenicity leading to escape from immune response and cause OBI with HBsAb positive.

Objective To investigate the effect of Candida albicans and its components on the expression level of human beta-defensin-2 mRNA (HBD-2) in keratinocytes in vitro. Methods Different components of Candida albicans were isolated by lyticase, repeated freezing and thawing, sonication, and centrifugation. The keratinocytes and HaCaT cell lines were co-cultured with Candida albicans and its cellular components for 24 h. The expression level of HBD-2 mRNA was detected by reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Results Low expression level of HBD-2 mRNA in the unstimulated keratinocytes and HaCaT cells was detected. The HBD-2 mRNA expression levels in the keratinocytes stimulated by Candida albicans, the extract of its cell wall, and pure mannan were significantly increased (P 0.05). Conclusions Candida albicans, the extract of cell wall of Candida albicans, and commercial mannan can increase the expression level of HBD-2 mRNA in keratinocytes.

Objective To preliminarily investigate the clinical features and efficacy of surgical treatment of moyamoya syndrome in patients w ith hyperthyroidism. Methods From December 2002 to April 2013, 41 patients w ith moyamoya syndrome based on the disease of hyperthyroidism admitted to the Department of Neurosurgery, the 307th Hospital of PLA w ere analyzed retrospectively. The clinical data w ere colected, including sex, age of onset, initial symptoms, progress symptoms, imaging features, Suzuki staging, and surgical efficacy, and they w ere compared w ith the clinical data of the patients w ith moyamoya disease treated at the same time. Results The ratio of male to female w as about 1∶4 in moyamoya syndrome patients w ith hyperthyroidism. The peak age of onset w as 25 to 34 years old. Compared w ith the patients w ith moyamoya disease at the same period, the proportion of patients w ith cerebral infarction as initial symptom w as higher in the moyamoya syndrome group ( 39.0% vs.24.2%; χ2 = 4.796, P =0.029), more patients had symptomatic progression (46.3% vs.25.4%; χ2 =9.207, P =0.002), and the proportion of of patients w ith cerebral hemorrhage as initial symptom w as low er ( 2.4% vs.14.6%; χ2 = 4.829, P =0.028). Thirty-seven patients w ho received encephalo -duro-arterio-synangiosis (EDAS) w ere folow ed up for 43 ± 19 months. The results show ed that the clinical symptoms of 31 patients had different degrees of improvement. Conclusions Moyamoya syndrome of hyperthyroidism is more common in w omen. The risk of cerebral infarction is higher and more prone to have disease progression. The efficacy of EDAS is better for controling the progression of moyamoya syndrome in patients w ith hyperthyroidism.
