1. Role of microRNAs in liver regeneration
Acta Anatomica Sinica 2017;48(2):230-235
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a group of endogenous, small, noncoding RNA molecules which can regulate gene expression at posttranscriptional level by binding to the 3 ' untranslated regions (3' UTRs) of their target mRNAs. It has been reported that miRNAs regulated a variety of biological processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, metabolic process, organ development, etc. Liver as one of the organs with extraordinary regenerative abilities, is considered to be an important material for the research of regeneration mechanism. This paper summarized the research advance of the role of microRNAs in liver regeneration.

AIMTo observe the antagonistic effect of hydroxysafflor yellow A (HSYA) on the platelet activating factor (PAF).
METHODSWashed rabbit platelet (WRP) aggregation and rabbit polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) aggregation induced by PAF were observed by turbidimetric assay in vitro. The PAF receptor antagonistic effect of HSYA was investigated by radio ligand binding assay (RLBA).
RESULTSIn RLBA the specific binding inhibition effect of HSYA was found to be concentration-dependent in three different [3H]PAF concentrations. In the experiments, WRP aggregation and rabbit PMNs aggregation induced by PAF (9.55 x 10(-10), 9.55 x 10(-6) mol.L-1) were both inhibited by HSYA in a concentration-dependent manner in vitro. The IC50 of HSYA to inhibit WRP and rabbit PMNs aggregation was 0.99 and 0.70 mmol.L-1, respectively.
CONCLUSIONThe PAF receptor binding can be antagonized by HSYA.

OBJECTIVETo compare the medial-to-lateral approach with the lateral-to-medial approach in laparoscopic right hemi-colectomy for right colon cancer.
METHODSA prospective randomized controlled trial was performed in the Fujian provincial tumor hospital between January 2007 and July 2009. Forty-eight cases with right colon cancer were randomly divided into two groups:medial-to-lateral laparoscopic right hemi-colectomy group(group M) and lateral-to-medial laparoscopic right hemi-colectomy group(group L). Primary outcome(operative time) and secondary outcomes (estimated blood loss, intra-operative complication, post-operative complication, number of lymph node retrieval, hospital stay) were compared between two groups.
RESULTSOperative time was(122.5+/-25.8) min in group M and (162.9+/-30.9) min in Group L (P=0.01). Estimated blood loss was(55.8+/-36.2) ml in group M and (104.6+/-58.2) ml in group L(P=0.01). There were no significant differences between the two groups in intra-operative complications(4.2% vs 8.3%, P=1.00), post-operative complications (8.3% vs 16.7%, P=0.66), number of lymph node retrieval (17.4+/-3.2 vs 17.8+/-3.4, P=0.67), and hospital stay[(7.8+/-2.2) d vs (8.0+/-3.6) d, P=0.81].
CONCLUSIONThe medial-to-lateral approach reduces operative time and blood loss in laparoscopic right hemi-colectomy as compared with the lateral-to-medial approach.

OBJECTIVETo determine the predictive value of HATCH score on recurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF) after radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA).
METHODSThe data of 123 consecutive AF patients (74 paroxysmal and 49 persistent AF) who underwent RFCA between April 2009 and December 2010 in our department were retrospectively analyzed. Of theses patients, 65 (52.9%) patients had HATCH score = 0, 41 (33.3%) patients had HATCH score = 1, and 17 (13.8%) patients had HATCH score ≥ 2 (HATCH = 2 in 11 patients, HATCH = 3 in 5 patients, HATCH = 4 in 1 patient). The recurrence was defined as atrial tachyarrhythmia lasting more than 30 seconds after 3 months post RFCA. The patients were divided into recurrence group and no recurrence group. Relationship between HATCH score and recurrence was observed.
RESULTSThere were 43 cases in recurrence group and 80 cases in no recurrence group. After 12 months follow-up, HATCH score was significant higher in recurrence group than in non-recurrence group [(0.91 ± 0.94) score vs. (0.53 ± 0.80) score, P < 0.05]. The ratio of patients with HATCH ≥ 2 in recurrence group was higher than in non-recurrence group [23.3% (10/43) vs. 8.8% (7/80), P < 0.01]. The sensitivity and specificity of HATCH ≥ 2 to define the risk of recurrence was 25.0%, 92.4% respectively. Cumulative non-recurrence rate of patients with HATCH score ≥ 2 was lower than patients with HATCH score = 0 and 1 (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONHigher HATCH score is associated with increased risk of AF recurrence post RFCA.
