OBJECTIVE:To review the status quo and problems in the study of TCM formula granule.METHODS:Recent literature concerning the preparation technology and the normalization of quality criteria,etc.of TCM formula granule reported were reviewed and analyzed.RESULTS&CONCLUSION:TCM formula granule was of many merits such as safe and sani-tary,accurate in dosage measurement,portable etc.However,there are also some problems yet to be solved.

Objective To investigate the effects of Nrf2/ARE pathway activator upregulating the expression of phase Ⅱ detoxifcation enzymes and antioxidant enzymes in islet B cell on its morphological structure in type 2 diabetic rats.Methods Type 2 diabetic rats were divided into diabetes model group (DM group),and tertiary-Butylhydroquinone intervention group(tBHQ group).At the same time,the normal control group (NC group)was set up.All rats were killed after eight-week continuous intervention.Fasting blood glucose (FBG) and fasting insulin (FINS) level were determined.Morphological structure of islet cells and apoptosis were observed.ELISA was used to determine MDA,TNF-α and T-SOD levels in serum and pancreatic tissues and Western blot was used to detect the protein expression levels of total Nrf2 and nulear Nrf2 in pancreatic tissues.Results Compared with NC group,FBG and FINS levels significantly increased and decreased in DM group respectively (all P=0.000).Compared with DM group,FBG and FINS levels significantly decreased and increased in tBHQ group respectively (all P=0.000).Compared with NC group,the number of islet cells significantly decreased and swelling,necrosis and apoptosis occurred in DM group.Islet cells in tBHQ group were significantly better than those in DM group.Compared with NC group,MDA and TNF-α levels in serum and pancreatic tissue significantly increased and TSOD levels significantly decreased in DM group (all P=0.000).Compared with DM group,MDA and TNF-α levels in serum and pancreatic tissue significantly decreased and T-SOD levels significantly increased in DM group(all P=0.000).Total Nrf2 and nulear Nrf2 in protein expression in DM group were significantly lower of than those in NC group (P()=0.000,P nulear Nrf2=0.006).Rats in tBHQ group had significantly higher protein expression of total Nrf2 and nulear Nrf2 than in DM group (all P=0.000).Conclusions Activating Nrf2/ARE pathway can reduce injury of oxidative stress and chronic inflammation on islet B cells further through upregulating the expression of phase Ⅱ detoxifying enzymes and antioxidant enzymes in islet B cells.

Objective To investigate the expression of TGF-?1 and Smad 3, 7 in rats renal tissue after unilateral ureteral obstruction(UUO) and the effect of Shentong capsule on their expressions. Methods Sixteen rats underwent UUO and were devided into operation group and Shentong treatment group, additional 8 rats were shame operation group. The pathological change of renal tissues were examined by light microscopy 8 days after operation. The extent of renal fibrosis was determined by measuring the area of renal interstitial fibrosis. Objective To investigate the protective effect of the new type of Tongxinluo (TXL) on blood-brain barrier impairment after cerebral ischemic/reperfusion injury in rats.Methods 78 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham-operated group (n=6), operated group (n=36) and TXL-treated group (n=36), the latter two groups were divided into 0.5 h, 2 h, 6 h, 12 h, 24 h and 48 h groups (n=6, each) according to the time after cerebral ischemic/reperfusion for 2 h. OBJECTIVE: To study the monoterpenoid indole alkaloids in Gardneria multiflora Makino. METHODS: The dried plants of G. multiflora Makino were extracted with 95% ethanol. After removal of solvent, the residue was diluted with water, then extracted with petroleum ether and chloroform to obtain crude alkaloids. Column chromatograghy on silica gel, Rp-18, and Sephadex LH-20 were applied for the isolation and purification of crude alkaloids. The structure was elucidated based on detailed spectroscopic evidence. RESULTS: One monoterpenoid indole alkaloid was isolated from this plant. CONCLUSION: Compound gardmultimine A (1) is a new compound.

Schwann cells (SCs) have potently neuroprotective and myelinization abilities. They are one of the earliest and the most frequently used cells that are applied to therapeutic studies in spinal cord injury. At present, SCs are usually used as a platform for therapeutic alliance to integrate various interventions. This review will mainly discuss the issues met in therapeutic alliances with SCs for spinal cord injuries, results of various therapeutic alliances with SCs, positive effects of co-transplantation with SCs on neural stem cells, survival, migration of SCs after transplantation and roles of endogenetic SCs in repairing spinal cord injury.

Objective To investigate the effects of erythropoietin(EPO)on the function of glomerular endothelial cells in rats with chronic renal failure(CRF). Methods The CRF model was established by a two stage 5/6 nephrectomy procedure in rats.Experimental rats were randomly divided into four groups:sham operation group (control group),CRF group,CRF rats treated with 30 U/kg EPO(low-dosage group)and with 50 U/kg EPO (high-dosage group).CRF rats received EPO by hypodermic injection for 6 weeks and then were sacrificed.Serum creatinine(Scr),blood urea nitrogen fBUN),urine protein,haematoglobin (Hb) and blood pressure were measured.The renal morphologie changes were evaluated on periodic acid-schiff (PAS) stained sections.The CD34 and CD31 expressions in glomerulus were detected by immunohistochemistry method.The mRNA of endothelin 1(ET-1),endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) were detected by RT-PCR. Results The expressions of CD34 and CD31 protein in glomerulus,and the expressions of eNOS and VEGF roRNA in renal tissue were higher in EPO treatment group than those in CRF model group(all P<0,05).The expression of ET-1 mRNA in renal tissue was lower in EPO treatment group than that in CRF model group.In addition,the Scr,BUN,urine protein and blood pressure in EPO treatment group were significantly lower than those in CRF model group (all P<0.05).Haematoglobin in EPO treatment group was higher than that in CRF model group (P<0.05).Reanl pathological injury wss improved by EPO treatment in dose-dependent manner. Conclusion EPO can ameliorate renal pathological injury and renal function in rats with chronic renal failure,maybe through promoting the renovation of glomerular capillary endothelium and improving the function of glomerular endothelial cells.
