ObjectiveTo study the missing items in questionnaire cfidentification for TCM constitution.MethodsThe questionnaires were regarded as study objects,which were independently finished by 1322 participants in Changfeng community who were over 45 years and agreed to participate in.The data'was analyzed by SPSS.ResultsMissing items were found in the questionnaires,with a missing rate of 33.74％ on an overall basis.No statistic difference was noted between male and female (x2=0.67,P＞0.05).The rate of missing items increased as participants' age climbing up to the age of 80,and then decreased.Groups characterized with age and gender showed difference in missing items.89.69％ of the incomplete questionnaires had less than 3 missing items,which concentrated in some specific items.ConclusionAttention should be addressed to the fact that missing items were found in questionnaircs of identification for TCM constitution finished independently by residents.

Objective To study the optimum process for Suanzaoren granules,and to optimize the ethanol-extracting process for jujuboside A in Semen Ziziphi Spinosae.Methods With the extracting rate of jujuboside A as the index,HPLC was used to determine the content of jujuboside A in extracted solution and the extracting conditions were optimized by orthogonal design.Results The optimum extracting condition was adding 8 times amount of 70% ethanol and refluxing for 60 min,then adding 6 times amount of 70% ethanol,refluxing and extracting for 40 min(two times).Conclusion The optimized process is stable and highly efficient.

AIM: To examine the changes in immune cells which might be involved in systemic immune dysfunction after severe burns, we detected the sequence of expressed sequence tag in lymphocytes and monocytes of F344 rats post-burn. METHODS: Two pairs of primers were designed depending on the sequence of AI764697.1. SMART RACE technology was employed for amplification of whole sequence. Furthermore, the amplified sequence was testified by Northern blot. RESULTS: A 592bp sequence, which was testified by Northern blot, was suceessfally obtained in our experiments. This product was accepted by GenBank and its accession number is AF244895. CONCLUSION: A cDNA whole sequence in immune cells of F344 rats after severe burns was amplified successfully. More research work should be done to identify the resource, location in genome and function of this product.

Objective: To investigate the expression of angiopoietin-related growth factor (AGF) in obese patients and its relationship with body mass index(BMI), waist circumference(WC), waist-hip ratio(WHR), blood glucose(FBG), plasma insulin(FINS) levels, and HOMA-insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR). Methods: Plasma AGF levels were assayed by ELISA in 40 patients with obesity and 40 normal controls. The relationship of AGF level with BMI, WC, WHR, HbA 1c, blood lipids, FBG, FINS, and HOMA-IR was also analyzed. Results: AGF levels in patients with obesity were significantly increased compared with that in the control group ([177.55±74.09] ng/ml vs [122.37±66.91] ng/ml, P<0.05). We also found that AGF level was positively correlated with Triglyceride(TG), FINS and HOMA-IR(r=0.325, P<0.05; r = 0.451, P<0.01; r = 0.483, P<0.01); and was negatively correlated with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL, r= -0.529, P<0.01). Multiple regression analysis showed that HDL, BMI and FINS were the factors influencing AGF levels. Binomial Logistic regression analysis indicated that AGF level was positively correlated with obesity after adjusting sex, age, total cholesterol (TC), TG, HDL and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) (OR>1). Conclusion: The change of AGF level is associated with the metabolism disorder in obese patients, and it may also contribute to the pathogenesis of obesity.

Objective To explore drinking water pollution by algae in Wuhan. Methods Sampling was carried out in different kinds of tap waters and tank waters for algae detection and identification. Results The detection rate of algae in tap waters was 89% in tank water it was 86% and at the same spot the genera and number of algae in the tank waters increased by 37% and 60% compared with the tap waters respectively. Conclusion Drinking water has been polluted by algae in different degree in Wuhan.

BACKGROUND: Although cultured technique and purified method of Schwann cells (SCs) are changed successively,purity is still limited. Whether double negative selections can culture high-purified SCs still needs a further study.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of double negative selections on growth and purity of SCs.DESIGN: Controlled animal study.SETTING: Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University,and the Beijing Institution of Otolaryngology.MATERIALS: The experiment was carried out in the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University and the Beijing Institution of Otolaryngology between May 2006 and July 2006. Twenty new-born Wistar rats of 3 days (without gender limitation) were provided by the Experimental Animal Center of the Chinese Medical Academy.METHODS: The sciatic nerves of rats were digested by 0.2% collagenase. ① Grouping: All the rats were divided into 4 groups with 5 each. The experimental group was depurated by differential adhesion and Ara-c for 30 minutes. SCs in the control group 1 and 2 were managed by differential adhesion and Ara-c for 30 minutes, respectively. Cells in the control group 3 were not purified. ② Evaluation: The cell growth was observed under invert microscope; growth curves were measured with MTT method in the experimental group and control group 3 to observe cell proliferation. In addition, the SCs were identified by immunocytochemistry; the culture purity was calculated (ratio of S100 positive cells in each sight).MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Growth of SCs; ② immunocytochemistry stain of SCs; ③ growth curve of SCs; ④ purity of SCs.RESULTS: ① Growth of SCs: At 5 days after incubation, the SCs proliferated well. SCs were spindle, bipolar and sometimes tripolar, with obvious nuclei and a little cytoplasm. There was more fibroblast cell in the group 3 than that in experimental group. ② Growth curve: The SCs in experimental group entered into the logarithm multiplication period at the third day. ③ Immunocytochemistry: The positive-stained SCs were brown in its body and process, and arranged like swirl. The FB with spread and anomaly shape was slight blue. ④ The ratio of anti-S100 positive cells was higher in experimental group than that in group 3 (P ＜ 0.01).CONCLUSION: With the double negative selection, high-purified SCs are obtained effectively.

Purpose　To detect the prevention of EGF and GLN on the side effect of TPN.　Methods　We randomized SD rats into four groups:group A (control),B(STPN),C(TPN+GLN),D(TPN+GLN+EGF).All rats were maintained on their respective diets for 8 days,at which time they were killed and the proximal jejunum was incised for biopsy,the MLN and celiac vein blood were collected for bacterial culture(aerobic culture).　Results　Group B rat mucosal cell atrophied,DNA and RNA content and plasma cell decreased,the positive rat of MLN bacterial culture was 62.5%.Atrophy in group C alleviated and bacterial translocation rate declined(37.5%).Group D was similar with group A.　Conclusions　GLN combined with EGF is more effective in protecting gut barrier function and preventing bacterial translocation than GLN alone.

Objective To explore the nutrition support route of enteral nutrition (EN) and parenteral nutrition(PN) on the cellular immune function of patients after esophagectomy.Methods Sixty-two patients with esophageal surgery were randomly divided into EN group and the PN group,and each was 31 cases.Cellular immune indexes(including T lymphocyte subsets,natural killer cells,B lymphocytes) were measured at the preoperation,the postoperative 1st day and 8th day.The t test was preformed to compare the measurement data of two groups,and repeated measures analysis of variance was used to compare multiple time points of measurement data of two groups.Results The levels of CD3,CD4,CD8,CD4/CDS,NK cells and B cells in EN group at before operation were (60.46 ± 6.41) ％,(39.03 ± 5.64) ％,(25.06 ± 5.39) ％,(1.60 ± 0.24),(13.86 ±4.91)％,(13.14 ± 3.81)％ respectively,and those indices at 8th day after operation were (65.18 ±7.81)％,(40.45 ±6.82)％,(22.81 ±4.47)％,(1.78 ±0.16),(16.97 ±4.85)％,(15.69 ± 3.88)％ respectively,and the differences were statistically significant(P ＜ 0.05).The levels of CD4,CD4/CD8,NK cells and B cells in PN group at before operation were (59.78 ± 5.17) ％,(39.10 ± 5.49) ％,(24.94 ± 3.97) ％,1.57 ±0.20,(14.02 ± 4.47) ％,(12.96 ± 3.39) ％ respectively,significantly different from that of 8th days ((59.78 ±5.17)％,(39.71 ±5.63)％,(24.74 ±3.80),(1.62 ±0.15),(15.35 ±4.31)％,(14.33 ±3.43) ％ respectively),and there were significant difference compared to before operation in terms of CD4,CD4/CD8,NK cells and B cells.At the 8th day after operation,there was significant difference between in EN group and PN group in terms of CD3,CD8,CD4/CD8,NK cells and B cells(P ＜0.05).Conclusion Early EN for patients after esophageal carcinoma operation can significantly improve the cellular immune function of patients.

Objective To explore the related factors about acute stress responses of the military freshmen,then built a path model among self-efficacy,social support,coping style,state-trait anxiety and acute stress responses.Methods 584 students were tested by General Self-efficacy Scale (GSES),Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS),Coping Styles Questionnaire,State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and Acute Stress Response Scale ( ASP S).Results ①The military freshmen in each factor of acute stress response got a lower score,especially the mean score of the changes of cognition was higher (0.21 ±0.21 ),compared with the other factors,and the changes of pathology (0.053 ±0.114) was lower.②There were significant correlations between self-efficacy,social support,positive coping,negative coping,state anxiety,trait anxiety and acute stress responses (P ＜ 0.01 ).③ Negative coping( r=0.130),trait anxiety(r=0.005) and state anxiety(r=0.002) influenced ASR directly,meanwhile,self-efficacy( r =-1.292) influenced ASR through the state anxiety indirectly,self-efficacy ( r=-7.465 ) and social support ( r =-0.294) influenced ASR indirectly through trait anxiety.Conclusion Acute stress responses of the military freshmen were directly influenced by negative coping and state-trait anxiety,and negative coping style was the main reason.

The status of anesthesia and psychotropic substances use for cancer pain control was analyzed in 355 cancer patients in Huanggu District of Shenyang City.The results revealed that patients aged 60 and above accounted for 62.8％ of the total; the 5 leading diseases were lung cancer ( 132 cases,37.2％ ),colorectal cancer (34 cases,9.6％ ),liver cancer (33 cases,9.3％ ),stomach cancer ( 31cases,8.7％ ) and pancreatic cancer (20 cases,5.6％ ).There was no significant difference in constituent ratio of disease categories in the last 4 years ( x2 =18.75,P ＞ 0.05 ).The daily oral dose of morphine sulphate was 60 - 200 mg with an effective rate of 91.5％ (325/355). The side effects including constipation,nausea,vomiting and itching can be effectively reduced by prophylactic medication.
