4.Effect of Some Amino Acids in Gentamicin Production
China Biotechnology 2006;0(12):-
Gentamicin production at home and abroad was fermentation cycle long, production rate low, production costs high and short of competitiveness.Added a little quantity of lysine, glycine, tyrosine, methionine into the medium of gentamicin producing Micromonospora purpurea during inoculation could improve the metabolic capability of microbe, shorten fermentation cycle and increase production rate of gentamicin. The new method was successfully developed in shaking flask test and applied to 5L glass fermentor for one month.Average data of one month showed that the fermentation time per cycle was shortened about 40% and the yield of gentamicin per fermentor increased about 14% in comparison with the conventional technique. The production rate of gentamicin was increased 30% ~95%(according to the capability of strain). The quality of the end product gentamicin conformed to CP2000,BP2000 and USP26 pharmacopoeia. Therefore, the new method may reduce production costs of gentamicin remarkably,it shows strong competitiveness in the marketplace.

BACKGROUND: Hemiarthroplasty is widely recommended for the treatment of femoral neck fractures in elderly patients, but it is controversial in choosing cemented or cementless fixation types. OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical effects of cemented hemiarthroplasty with cementless hemiarthroplasty for the treatment of femoral neck fractures in elderly and to provide a scientific basis for the selection of clinical prosthesis. METHODS: 167 elderly patients with femoral neck fractures undergoing hemiarthroplasty in the Foshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2013 to March 2015 were enrolled in this study. According to the type of prosthesis, patients were divided into cementless group (n=81) and cemented group (n=86). The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, hemoglobin levels 1 day after surgery, reoperation rate, mortality and complications at 1 year after surgery were compared. After surgery, clinical function of hip joint was assessed by Harris scoring system. The pain was evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) All patients were followed up for ≥ 12 months. (2) The operation time in the cementless group was significantly shorter than that in the cemented group (P < 0.01). (3) There was no significant difference in the intraoperative blood loss and hemoglobin levels at postoperative 1 day (P > 0.05). (4) There were no significant differences in Harris hip scores and Visual Analogue Scale score at various time points between both groups (P > 0.05). (5) The incidence of thigh pain in cementless group was slightly higher than that in cemented group at 1 week, 1 and 6 months after operation, but the differences were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). Two patients died from myocardial infarct in the cementless group, and one patient died from pulmonary infection in the cemented group. The mortality was not significantly different at postoperative 1 year between the two groups (P > 0.05). No complications, such as prosthesis loosening and sinking, periprosthetic fracture, and periprosthetic infection, which needed to be refurbished, occurred in both groups. (6) Our findings suggest that both cemented and cementless hemiarthroplasties can obtain satisfactory effect in the treatment of femoral neck fractures in the elderly patients. Cementless hemiarthroplasty can significantly shorten operation time.

9. Optimization of prescription and preparation technology of brucine nanostructured lipid carriers
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2018;49(11):2557-2563
Objective To optimize the prescription and preparation technology of brucine nanostructured lipid carriers (B-NLC). Methods The method of "the solvent emulsification ultrasound" was used to prepare B-NLC. The prescription and preparation was optimized using a single factor method combined with central composite design-response surface methodology (CCD-RSM). Results The resultant B-NLC was transparent liquid with light blue opalescence. The optimal conditions were that the dosage of drugs was 1.28 mg, the mass concentration of poloxamer 188 was 1.08%, and the ratio of solid lipid to liquid lipid was 1.45:1. The obtained NLC showed the average particle size of (136.89 ± 4.23) nm with a polydispersity index of 0.289 ± 0.005 and a zeta potential of (-34.46 ± 0.31) mV. The entrapment efficiency was calculated to be (68.98 ± 2.06)%, and the drug loading content was (1.90 ± 0.06)%. Conclusion B-NLC prepared by solvent emulsification ultrasound had a high entrapment efficiency and a narrow particle size distribution. The method was easy and simple and can be used to optimize the prescription and preparation of B-NLC, which provides a foundation for the further in vivo research of brucine.
