1.A comparison of two continuous passive motion protocols after total knee replacement
Chinese Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 2003;0(05):-
Objective To investigate the effects of continuous passive motion (CPM) protocols on outcomes of total knee arthroplasty. Methods Seventy-two patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty were divided into 2 groups and treated with different CPM protocols: group 1 with CPM from 0 degree to 40 degrees and increased by 10 degrees per day, while group 2 with CPM from 90 degrees to 50 degrees (early flexion) and gradually progressed to full extension over a 4-day period. The CPM was administered twice a day for 1 hour over a 7-day period. All the patients participated in the same postoperative physiotherapy program. Results Group 2 (the early flexion group) had significantly more range of motion than group 1. Conclusion The early flexion can help achieve favorable functional gain after total knee arthroplasty.

Ojective To evaluate the effect of the collagen injection for skin defect correction. Methods The various kinds of skin defect were injected by medical cosmetic collagen. Results 103 cases of skin defect were treated by collagen injection. Short term therapentic effect inclnding "excellent" and "good" was 85.5%. no complication occurred. Conclusion It showed that the method of collagen injection for skin defect correction is safe, simply and effective.

Objective To sum up the experience of copper needle embolization for huge subcutaneous cavernous hemangioma. Methods Eighteen cases of huge hemangioma, located at the face and neck (3 cases), the upper limbs (5 cases), or the lower limbs and buttocks (10 cases), respectively, were treated from 1996 to 2003. Needles made from copper wire 1~3 mm in diameter were inserted into the lesions, through the skin directly or under the guidance of color Doppler ultrasonography. The copper needles were left in place for 1 week, with or without 4~6 V direct current circulated for 5~10 min twice. Results The therapeutic outcomes included: the shrinking and sclerotization of the hemangioma with the disappearance of postural changes (18 cases), the decrease of circumference of the involved limb (13 cases), the change of the lesion skin from blue-purple to light or normal in color (4 cases), the subsidence or disappearance of swelling and heavy feeling of the involved limb (5 cases), and the regression of the lesion and the reduction of blood flow under color ultrasonography (14 cases). Conclusions Copper needle embolization is a simple, effective and relatively less invasive method for the treatment of huge subcutaneous cavernous hemangioma that is difficult to be resected. It at times may be the only applicable option for children.

Objective To explore the management of T 1G 3 transitional cell carcinoma of urinary bladder. Methods 67 cases of T 1G 3 transitional cell carcinoma, average age of 63,were treated with TURBt.Followed by intravesical bacillus Calmette-Guerin instillation in 59 cases and mitomycin C instillation in other 8 cases. Results Within median 47 (range 12~78) months follow-up,28 cases had recurrence.20 cases had tumors progressed to muscle invasion(T 2 or higher).16 cases had received total cystectomy and 4 cases had long-distance metastasis. 9 cases died from the tumor. Conclusions Patients who have T 1G 3 transitional cell carcinoma initially should be treated by TURBt and intravesical BCG instillation and followed rigorously. When the tumor recurs and progresses into muscle invasion, total cystectomy is preferred.

0.25)levels in the two groups. In the group treated with42mJ/cm 2 UVB irradiation followed by the addition of EGCG,the numbers of apoptotic and dead cells and Fas mRNA were decreased, but bcl-2protein was increased. Conclusions Low dosage of UVB irradiation could induce apoptosis of keratinocytes.High dosage of UVB irradiation might result in cell death.EGCG could reduce UVB-induced apoptosis of keratinocytes by increasing bcl-2protein and decreasing Fas mRNA.

Chinese Journal of Dermatology 2003;0(10):-
Objective To explore the inhibitory action of antisense c-jun oligodeoxynucleotides(ODN) on matrix metalloproteinase(MMP) expression of fibroblasts induced by ultraviolet B (UVB). Methods The c-jun and c-fos protein expression induced by UVB were measured by Western blot. The mRNA expression of c-jun was determined by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) after transfection with c-jun antisense ODN. The pro-MMP-1 and MMP-3 synthesis of fibroblasts was measured by ELISA after treatment with UVB and antisense c-jun ODN. Results The UVB-induced c-jun protein expression of fibroblasts increased to 1.8, 2.6, 3.3 times compared with that of non-irradiated controls, while there was no significant change in c-fos protein expression. The pro-MMP-1 and MMP-3 synthesis induced by UVB irradiation increased obviously. After transfection with different concentrations of c-jun antisense ODN, the UVB-induced c-jun mRNA expression could be significantly inhibited(P

Objective To observe the application effect of comfortable nursing in percutaneous coronary intervention for patients with acute myocardium infarction. Methods 112 patients with acute myocardium infarction receiving the treatment of percutaneous coronary intervention were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, each group including 56 cases. The control group was given conventional nursing, and the observation group was given comfortable nursing.Hospitalization time, nursing satisfaction degree, psychological status before and after treatment and life quality for patients in two groups were evaluated. Results The nursing satisfaction degree, nursing effect and life quality for 56 patients in the observation group were higher evidently than those in the control group. And the average hospitalization time of the observation group was lower than that of the control group. The comparison between two groups had statistical significance. Conclusions Comfortable nursing in percutaneous coronary intervention for patients with acute myocardium infarction can evidently improve medical quality, and can provide strong guarantee for the life and safety of patients.
