The vast majority of vertebral compression fractures are caused by osteoporosis and vertebral tumor, which lead to the pain of a fracture and intervertebral height lost.In recent 20 years, the use of percutaneous vertebroplasty and percutaneous kyphoplasty,a kind of minimally invasive surgery method intended for the vertebral compression fractures, are rising up for patients with vertebral compression fractures, which can quickly relieve patients' pain and restore injured vertebral deformities.Percutaneous vertebroplasty injects bone cement into fractures through a small incision. However, percutaneous kyphoplasty injects a balloon into a fracture to make a cavity by expending and shrinking, which is filled with filler material, and then removes the balloon, and injects bone cement. This article mainly reviews development, curative effect and safety, clinical application and future aspects.of the percutaneous vertebroplasty and percutaneous kyphoplasty.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the main factors that influence the results of sperm alkaline single-cell gel electrophoresis (SCGE), optimize the conditions, and standardize its procedures.
METHODSUsing alkaline SCGE, we detected the DNA fragments of sperm treated with different concentrations of H2O2 and determined the influences of the number of agarose gel layers, pH during DNA unwinding and electrophoresis, the time of DNA unwinding and electrophoresis, and cumulative sperm number on the results of sperm alkaline SCGE. Then we optimized the procedures, analyzed the repeatability of the optimized method, and examined 40 semen samples using the method.
RESULTSThree agarose gel layers could reduce the background. The optimal pH during DNA unwinding and electrophoresis was 10, and the best times for DNA unwinding and electrophoresis were 40 min and 30 min, respectively. Fifty sperm were adequate to ensure the reliability of the results. Based on the percentage of tail DNA, the intra- and inter-assay repeatabilities of the optimized sperm alkaline SCGE were 3.12% and 7.13%, and by the DNA damage score, they were 2.38% and 6.09%, respectively. Sperm DNA fragments were significantly increased in the infertile patients with oligoasthenoteratozoospermia as compared with healthy fertile males (P <0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe optimized sperm alkaline SCGE, highly repeatable and easy to be standardized, can be applied to the clinical detection of sperm DNA fragmentation in infertile men.

International Eye Science 2016;16(7):1221-1227
AIM: To estimate the pooled prevalence of myopia among primary school students in mainland China during 1980- 2013. Myopia had become a growing public health issue, with high prevalence rates in mainland China, particularly among children. However, we still had no population-based nationwide studies of the prevalence of myopia among primary school students in recent years. METHODS: Wanfang, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure and PubMed databases were searched independently until Dec. 31, 2013 to identify relevant articles. Data from the eligible articles were extracted by two reviewers. All of the data analyses were conducted using Meta-Analyst software (version 3. 13, USA).
RESULTS: Thirty - seven eligible studies published between 1980 and 2013 were selected with a total of 245248 individuals. The pooled prevalence of myopia among the included individuals was 26. 5% (95% CI: 21. 8% -31. 7%). The prevalence of myopia increased with age (from 8. 4%at 6-8y to 57. 4% at 12-14y).
CONCLUSION: The pooled prevalence of myopia among primary school students in mainland China was much higher than that of western countries or regions. The prevalence of myopia increased with age among primary school students. This study should be valuable for myopia prevention and treatment in mainland China.

Objective To investigate the potential values of magnetic resonance elastography (MRE)for evaluating the brain tumor consistency in vivo. Methods Fourteen patients with known solid brain tumor(5 male,9 female;age range:16-63 years)underwent brain MRE studies.Informed consent was obtained from all patients.A dedicated external force actuator for brain MRE study Was developed. The actuator was fixed to the head coil.During scan.one side of the actuator was attached to the patients'head.Low frequency oscillation Was produced by the actuator and caused shear waves propagating into brain tissue. The pulse sequence used in the study Writs phase-contrast gradient-echo sequence.Phase images of the brain were obtained and the shear waves within the brain were directly imaged.Phase images were processed with local frequency estimation (LFE) technique to obtain the elasticity image.Consistency of brain tumors Was evaluated at surgery and Was classified as soft, intermediate,or hard with comparison to the white matter of the brain.Correspondence of MRE evaluation with operative results was studied. Results The elastic modulus of the tumor Was lower than that of white matter in 1 patient, higher inll patients, and similar in 2 patients. At surgery, the tumor manifested a soft consistency in I patient, hard consistency in 11 patients, intermediate consistency in 2 patients. The elasticity of tumors in 14 patients evaluated by MRE was correlated with the tumor consistency on the operation. Conclusion MRE Can noninvasively display the elasticity of brain tumors in vivo, and evaluate the brain tumor consistency before operation.

Microbiology 1992;0(05):-
Bacteria are regarded as the main hazard in food industry, and b acteria can be affected by a static magnetic field (SMF) with high intensity. S o the SMF would be useful for controlling the bacteria’s hazard to food. The e ffect of magnetic induction, treatment time on bacteria, and the survival probab ility of bacteria under SMF were studied for investigating their action regulari ty, and the DNA fingerprint of strains after magnetic treatment was compared wit h that of control. The research results would lay the basis of SMF application in food industry on theory and practice.

Chinese Journal of Medical Physics 2006;23(4):253-257
Objective: To study magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) technique. Methods: An external force actuator was developed, the imaging pulse sequence of MRE was designed, and tissue simulating phantoms were constructed. The actuator controlled by the pulse sepuence produced shear waves at low frequency on the surface of the phantoms. A modified gradient echo sequence was developed with motion sensitizing gradient (MSG)imposed along X,Y or Z direction.Cyclic displacement within the medium induced by shear waves caused a measurable phase shift in the received MR signal. From the measured phase shift, the displacement at each voxel could be calculated, and the propatating shear waves within the medium were directly imaged. By adjusting the phase offsets, the dynamic propagation of shear waves in a wave cycle was obtained. The phase images were processed to aquire quantitative elasticity image using local frequency estimation(LFE)method. The experiments were implemented with 1.0% and 1.5% tissue simulating agarose gel. Shear waves at frequency of 150 Hz,200 Hz,250 Hz,and 300 Hz were applied. Results: The phase images of MRE directly imaged the propagating shear waves within the phantoms. The wavelength of shear waves varied with the change of exciting frequency and stiffness of the phantoms. The wavelength of shear waves was exactly proportional to the frequency and stiffness of the phantom. The contrast of elasticity in agarose gel with two concentrations was clearly demonstrated on elasticity images. Conclusion: The phase images of MRE can directly visualize the propagation of shear waves in the medium. The elasticity image of MRE can quantitatively image the elastic modulus of the medium
