ObjectiveTo observe effect of OT training on patients wearing the upper limd prosthesis. MethodsThe effect of OT to 30 patients with upper arm prosthesis was analyzed using FIM score before and after training. ResultsAfter 1-3-month OT training, the patients' FIM score were improved significantly(P<0.01).Conclusions OT is an effective method on the patients wearing upper arm prosthesis.

Chinese Journal of Cardiology 2006;34(5):387-390
OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between microalbuminuria and arterial compliance in hypertensive and diabetes patients.
METHODSA total of 200 patients with essential hypertension and/or diabetes were studied. Albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) was determined. Carotid to femoral Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV), C(1) and C(2) were measured by a Complier Colson device and DO-2020, respectively.
RESULT(1) C(1) and C(2) were lower and PWV higher in high ACR group than in normal ACR group (P < 0.01). (2) In patients younger than 60 years, C(1) was lower and PWV higher in high ACR group than that in normal ACR group (P < 0.01). In patients older than 60 years, C(1), C(2) were lower in high ACR group than in normal ACR group.
CONCLUSIONThe results indicated that compliance of large and small vessels in hypertensive and diabetic patients decreased with increasing ACR.

Objective To investigate the feasibility of the simultaneous measurement of right ventricular pressure-volume loops by cardiac catheterization and 2D electrocardiogram. Methods Patients referred for pulmonary hypertension underwent right heart catheterization in our hospital between June 1st, 2015 and June 1st, 2017 are to be enrolled in this study. The right ventricular volume was measured simultaneously by catheter and electrocardiogram. The pressure-volume loops were constructed by the parameters of the pressure and volume in the same cardiac cycle. Results The study completed in four cases and their pressure-volume loops were drawn. The obtained images were irregular and there was no relationship among them. As a result, the construction was a failure. Conclusions The construction of the right ventricular pressure-volume loops of pulmonary hypertension patients by simultaneous catheterization and 2D electrocardiogram is difficult to overcome the technology defects.

Objective To report a case of foot hyalohyphomycosis due to Fusarium subglutinans. Methods Medical history was collected and physical examination performed for this patient.Biopsy samples were obtained from the inner side of right ankle of this patient and subjected to pathological examination. Discharge was collected from the lesions for direct microscopic examination and culture. Results A 72-year-old woman presented with an ulcer on the right foot for 3 years.Physical examination disclosed an ulcer, measuring 3 cm x 1.5 cm,with a moist surface and obvious tenderness,at the inner side of the right ankle.Proliferation of dusky-red granulomatous tissue was observed at the base of the ulcer.Pathological examination revealed necrotic granulomatous tissue and slender, septate and hyaline hypha-like structure in the superficial dermis with scattered infiltration of inflammatory cells.PAS staining showed sausage-like hypha and scattered orbicular-ovate spores.Microscopic examination of lesional discharge exhibited septate, branching and hyaline hypha. The isolated fungus was identified as Fusarium subglutinans by culture, and appeared to be highly sensitive to terbinafine, nystatin and amphotericin B.The lesion completely healed after 2 months of treatment with oral terbinafine (0.25 g,twice a day). Conclusions This is a case of foot hyalohyphomycosis due to Fusarium subglutinans, and terbinafine is effective for this condition.

Objective: To assess the relationship between the characteristic of drug resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and the syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)in ICU.Methods: The 73 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were isolated from sputum specimenpatients of in-patients in our ICU from March 2005 to February 2006.The data of the drug sensitivity test in vitro was analysised. The relation between the syndrome of TCM and drug resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa was probed. Results: The 73 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were drug resistant to majority kinds of anti-infective except Piperacillin-Tazobactam,Piperacillin,Cefoperazone-Sulbactam,and Amikacin. The mains syndromes of TCM of all patients infected Pseudomonas aeruginosa were deficiency-excess complex(虚实夹杂证) and excess pattern(实证)(97.26%).The mains of deficiency-excess complex(虚实夹杂证) were Qi vacuity and phlegm obstruction(气虚痰阻证)and Yin vacuity internal heat(阴虚热郁证).The mains of excess pattern(实证) were phlegm-heat(痰热郁阻证)and phlegm-stasis(痰瘀互阻证).Conclusions: Combined ?-lactam antibiotics and aminoglycoside antibiotics is the first selection to treat the multidrugresistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa.Indentifing patterns and determining treatment in TCM could be tried in the treatment of patients infected Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

OBJECTIVETo observe the therapeutic effect of moxibustion on AIDS patients of spleen-kidney yang-deficiency.
METHODSSixty-six cases of AIDS were divided into a treatment group and a control group, 33 cases in each group. All of the patients were treated with HAART, with moxibustion at Tianshu (ST 25), Shenque (CV 8), Zhongwan (CV 12), Guanyuan (CV 4) added in the treatment group for 3 months. Clinical symptoms and cell immunity were recorded before and after treatment.
RESULTSAfter treatment, the effective rate was 90.9% in the treatment group, which was better than 66.7% in the control group (P < 0.05). The improvement of the score for clinical symptoms in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group (P < 0.01). After treatment, the CD4 lymphocyte counts increased in the two groups, with no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). Additionally, increase of total lymphocyte count in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONMoxibustion can increase the therapeutic effect of HAART on AIDS patients and increase the total lymphocyte count.

Korean Journal of Ophthalmology 1996;10(1):29-33
Studies have been shown that intraocular pressure (IOP) shows a seasonal variation, but amount of change differs from study to study. The variability in their results may be due to negligence of factors that can affect IOP. Due to differences in environmental conditions of China than other countries, we investigated seasonal variations in IOP of 103 healthy male Chinese of Shanghai. IOP was measured each month over the course of fourteen months with the Goldmann applanation tonometer. The average intraocular pressures in the winter months were higher than those in the spring, summer, and autumn months. The IOP difference between winter and summer months was found to be 1.4 +/- 0.7 mmHg.This study confirms that season influences IOP. As compared to other nations, effect of seasons on IOP seems to be somewhat less pronounced in Chinese. The possible mechanisms, responsible for the seasonal variation of intraocular pressure, are also postulated.
