By using routine H. E method and measuring the absolute weight and growth index of thymus and ANAE positive ratios, 1 to 49 days Tianfu duckling were selected to study the changing trends in the normal development of the thymus. The results are as follows:the thymus of duckling develops slowly from 1 to 14 days, and quickly from 21 to 35 days, then steadily from 35 to 49 days. By the 28th day, most T-lymphocytes have well differentiated and the thymus has reached its maturation. There are three types of thymie corpuscles whose functions have been discussed.

Objective To characterize non-headache symptoms during the migraine attack phase in migraine patients. Methods We enrolled in the present investigation 71 patients with migraine with and without aura who had sought medical treatment in our department from January 2010 to January 2011. We used a self-made migraine questionnaire to investigate associations of the non-headache symptoms with the sociodemographic factors, subtypes, severities and attacks of the headache in the patients. Results There were no significant differences in the number of non-headache symptoms among patients with different ages, genders, education levels, subtypes, severities, mean attack frequencies per month (P>0.05). The most frequently reported non-headache symptoms were nausea (87.3%),phonophobia (81.7%) and mood change (69.0%).The incidences ofphonophobia, sleep disorder and osmophobia were significantly higher in patients without aura than in patients with aura (P<0.05).Conclusion Migraine attacks are often accompanied by a variety of non-headache symptoms of which the most frequently reported ones are nausea, phonophobia and mood change.Patients without aura tend to have more phonophobia, sleep disorder and osmophobia than those with aura.

Although previous reports showed drug-eluting stent (DES) could effectively inhibit neointima formation, in-stent restenosis (ISR) remains an important obstacle. The purpose of this study was to investigate different effects of paclitaxel on proliferation and cell cycle regulators between vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) and vascular endothelial cells (VECs) of rats in vitro. The cultured VSMCs and VECs of rats from the same tissues were examined by using immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry and Western blotting in control and paclitaxel-treated groups. The results showed paclitaxel could effectively inhibit proliferation of VSMCs and VECs. However, as compared with VECs, proliferation of VSMCs in paclitaxel-treated group decreased less rapidly. The percentage of cells in G0-G1 and G2-M phases was reduced, and that in S phase increased after treatment for 72 h. The expression of cyclin D1 and B1, p27 and PCNA in VSMCs of paclitaxel-treated group was up-regulated, but that of p21 down-regulated as compared with VECs. It is concluded that there are significant differences in the expression of cell cycle regulators and proliferation rate between paclitaxel-treated VSMCs and paclitaxel-treated VECs, suggesting that the G1-S checkpoint regulated by paclitaxel may play a critical role in the development of complications of DES, which provides new strategies for treatments of ISR.

Objective To study interleukin-1 receptor(IL-1R) and connexin(Cx36) gene expression following Mg 2+-free-induced seizures in cultured developing neuron. Methods Rat embryo cortical neurons cultured for 6 and 17 days were exposed to Mg 2+-free media to induce seizure. At different time after Mg 2+-free treatment, real-time RT-PCR was used to detect IL-1R and Cx36 mRNA expression. Results 1. IL-1R mRNA expression transiently decreased after Mg 2+-free treatment in neurons cultured for 6 and 17 days in vitro. Then the levels of IL-1R mRNA expression recovered in neurons cultured for 6 days, but IL-1R mRNA expression were increased in neurons cultured for 17 days compared with control group and the peak was at 24 hours. 2. In neurons cultured for 6 days in vitro, Cx36 mRNA expression increased after Mg 2+-free treatment compared with control group, the peak was at 24 hours. But in neurons cultured for 17 days in vitro, Cx36 mRNA expression decreased at 6 hours after Mg 2+-free treatment compared with control group, the peak was at 24 hours. Conclusions IL-1R mRNA and Cx36 mRNA expression following Mg 2+-free-induced seizures are different between the neurons cultured for 6 and 17 days in vitro. This is possibly related to the different neuron injury between 6 and 17 days in vitro following seizures.

Objective To investigate the production and removal of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimer (CPD) by HaCaT cells after UVB irradiation, and the effect of baicalin in this process. Methods HaCaT cells were cultured and irradiated with given dosages of UVB, and the production and removal of CPD by HaCaT cells at given time points after UVB irradiation were assessed by immunohistochemical method. In parallel studies, HaCaT cells were preincubated with baicalin, and the effect on CPD was evaluated. Results The damage to HaCaT cells was dependent on the dosage of UVB radiation. After irradiation with 30 mJ/cm2 of UVB, CPD formation peaked at 0.5 h. CPD was removed rapidly from HaCaT cells during the first 4 h; the rate of removal decreased thereafter, and the removal was almost complete by 24 h after the irradiation. The amount of CPD decreased significantly in HaCaT cells that were preincubated with baicalin solution before UVB irradiation than that in those without the preincubation (U = 2.324, P

Chinese Journal of Stomatology 2019;54(2):101-106
Objective:
To investigate the discrepancy of crown-root morphology of upper and lower central incisors in adult patients with different skeletal malocclusions using cone-beam CT (CBCT).
Methods:
Patients visiting the Department of Orthodontics, College of Stomatology, Xi′an Jiaotong University from January 2015 to December 2017 were selected, including 108 cases (52 males, 56 females, aged from 18 to 30 years, mean age 25.8 years). According to CBCT data and cephalometric analysis, 66 patients with average angle were selected as the sagittal skeletal group, including 24 Class Ⅰ patients, 20 Class Ⅱ and 22 Class Ⅲ patients. In the other selected 66 skeletal Class Ⅰ patients including 21 low angle patients, 24 average angle patients (from the sagittal skeletal Class Ⅰ subgroup) and 21 high angle patients. Invivo 5 software was used to locate the CBCT image three dimensionally and then obtain the middle labio-lingual section of right central incisor. Auto CAD 2007 software was applied to measure the angle formed by the long axis of root and the extension line of the long axis of crown (Collum angle), and the angle between the long axis of crown and the lip tangent line passing through the center of the labial surface of crown (labial surface angle). One-way ANOVA and Scheff were used to analyze the discrepancies among classifications and Pearson correlation analysis was used to determine the correlation between the Collum angles and labial surface angles.
Results:
Significant differences were found in Collum angles and labial surface angles among different sagittal skeletal patterns (
