Chinese Journal of Immunology 2018;34(6):850-853
Objective:To study confirm whether curcumin could inhibit the proliferation of CD44+colon cancer cells. In this study. Methods: MTT method was used to test the proliferation inhibition effects of curcumin against colon cancer cells. And Real-time PCR and Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) were used to determine CD44 expression level in colon cancer cells after treated with curcumin. Then we used Magnetic-activated cell sorting ( MACS) method to separate CD44 positive and negative cells. And we compared the proliferation inhibition effects of curcumin against these two kinds of cells. Results: Curcumin could inhibit the proliferation of HCT116 and HT-29 colon cancer cell lines. The expression level of CD44 could also be down-regulated after the colon cancer cells were treated with curcumin. Conclusion: Curcumin could inhibit the proliferation of CD44+colon cancer cells. Thus it was suggested that crcumin might have the effect to inhibit the proliferation of colon cancer stem cells and might be used as a promising agents to prevent the relapse and metastasis of colon cancer.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the clinical character, diagnosis and treatment of badly necrotic pyogenic infection in cervical part with pneumatosis of vomica.
METHODSThe clinical character, diagnosis and treatment of badly necrotic pyogenic infection in cervical part with pneumatosis of vomica of 46 cases were investigated retrospectively.
RESULTSLateral and bilateral neck infection cases were 38 and 8 respectively. 30 cases formed primary pyogenic infection in cervical part with pneumatosis of vomica, and 16 did from adjacent sites. Besides the characters of the acute infection, gas storage in deep cervical part abscess was notable. CT and B Ultrasonic examination provided useful informations such as sizes, shapes, capacity, extents of abscess and the relationship between the abscess and vessel or vital organ. Diagnosis puncture and germiculture were performed before and after operation. The results showed that 25 of 46 cases were infected by staphylococcus or streptococcus, and 21 cases did by other bacterium. Exploration and drainage treatments were performed. All cases were cured except 2 died.
CONCLUSIONDiagnostic puncture, CT and/or B Ultrasonic examination are essential for diagnosis and presurgical planning. Germiculture provides reliable evidence for finding pathogeny and therapy. The most possibilities of pyogenic infection with pneumatosis of vomica in cervical part are the action of aerogenic bacterium, infection both in cervical part and chest or swallowing movement of pharynx.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2013;33(10):1421-1426
OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of tricostantin A (TSA) on self-renewal of breast cancer stem cells and explore the mechanisms.
METHODSBreast cancer cell lines MDA-MB-468, MDA-MB-231, MCF-7 and SKBR3 were cultured in suspension and treated with different concentrations of TSA for 7 days, using 0.1% DMSO as the control. Secondary mammosphere formation efficiency and percentage of CD44(+)/CD24(-) sub-population in the primary mammospheres were used to evaluate the effects of TSA on self-renewal of breast cancer stem cells. The breast cancer stem cell surface marker CD44(+)/CD24(-) and the percentage of apoptosis in the primary mammospheres were assayed using flow cytometry. The mRNA expressions of Nanog, Sox2 and Oct4 in the primary mammospheres were assayed with quantitative PCR.
RESULTSTSA at both 100 and 500 nmol/L, but not at 10 nmol/L, partially inhibited the self-renewal of breast cancer stem cells from the 4 cell lines. TSA at 500 nmol/L induced cell apoptosis in the primary mammospheres. TSA down-regulated the mRNA expression of Nanog and Sox2 in the primary mammospheres.
CONCLUSIONTSA can partially inhibit the self-renewal of breast cancer stem cells through a mechanism involving the down-regulation of Nanog and Sox2 expression, indicating the value of combined treatments with low-dose TSA and other anticancer drugs to achieve maximum inhibition of breast cancer stem cell self-renewal. The core transcriptional factor of embryonic stem cells Nanog and Sox2 can be potential targets of anticancer therapy.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2008;32(1):50-53
The atom absorption spectrometer is introduced to determine the cation concentrations such as potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium in the dialysis fluid. They are accurately determined by proper preparation and correct dilution ratio under the optimized measuring conditions. Compared with the current arbitrate methods (EDTA titration determination of calcium and magnesium), it supplements the methods of international and industrial standards for determination of cations.
