A case of congenital pelvic arteriovenous malformation in a 41-years-old male treated by successful transarterial embolization was reported. This patient suffered from adult polycystic kidney disease and unknown reason for gross hematuria for four years. His left kidney was resected one year ago for suspected left nephrorrhagia but the hematuria remained.MRI examination of pelvis demonstrated AVM involving extensively the pelvic soft tissue, bladder and seminal vesicles.Bilateral internal iliac arterial angiography by DSA showed congenital pelvic arteriovenous malformations(CPAVM),the fringy anisotrophy vascular plexus supplied by many feeding arteries and drained into bilateral dilated and tortuous internal iliac venous branches.Super-selective catheterization and embolization for eight supplying blood branches, such as bilateral internal pudendal arterial branches, right obturator arterial branches, right inferior gluteal arterial branches, left superior vesical artery, left inferior vesical artery, spermatocyst artery and right lateral sacral artery etc, were carried out successfully with gelfoam sponge or PVA particulates in one time. His urine turned clear on the same day after arterial embolization, and no gross hematuria occurred during 6-months follow-up.The pelvic arterial angiography with embolization is extremely effective for the diagnostic and therapeutic measure of CPAVM.

Objective To preliminarily investigate the effect and possible mechanisms of Senecio cannabifolius Less.Ⅱ(FHC-Ⅱ) on perfluoroisobutylene (PFIB) inhalation-induced acute lung injury. Methods Totally 156 rats were randomly assigned to three groups: the control group, the PFIB group and the FHC-Ⅱ prevention group, with 32, 62 and 62 rats in each group respectively. The FHC-Ⅱprevention group were given FHC-Ⅱthree times per day at the dosage of 340 mg/kg before PFIB exposure. 1 h after the last time of FHC-Ⅱ administration, the FHC-Ⅱ prevention group were exposured to gaseous PFIB (0.2 mg/L) for 10 minutes in a static whole-body exposure inhalation system. The survival rate of the rats were recorded at 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 24, 48 and 72 h post PFIB exposure;the lung index and total protein content in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were measured at 1 h, 2 h, 4 h, 8 h, 16 h and 24 h; IL-1β and IL-8 in sera were assayed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) at 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 h post PFIB exposure and the histopathological examination of the lung tissue was performed at 8 h post PFIB exposure. Results FHC-II significantly reduced the content of the total protein in BALF, lung index and the levels of IL-1β and IL-8 in aera as well, and dramatically alleviated the histopathological changes in the lung tissue. Conclusion FHC-Ⅱ demonstrates some preventive effect on PFIB inhalation-induced acute lung injury in rats.

Aim To evaluate the effect of intermedin (IMD)on cell proliferation and regeneration in rat tu-bular epithelial cell line (NRK-52E)that was subjec-ted to hypoxia-reoxygenation (H/R)injury.Methods The NRK-52E cells were divided into control group and three model groups (H/R,H/R +primitive vec-tor,H/R +IMD vector). The content of LDH was de-tected to observe the influence of IMD on H/R injury. The cell proliferation was detected by MTT.The cell cycle was detected by flow cytometry.Real-time PCR and western blotting were used to determine mRNA and protein levels. Results ① In comparison to the con-trol,H/R treatment decreased the cell viability and in-creased LDH activity (P <0.01 );in contrast,com-pared to H/R,IMD treatment ameliorated cell viability (79.1 5 ±1 .421 % vs 61 .22 ±1 .63%,P <0.05)and decreased LDH activities by 33.85% (P <0.01 ).②The proliferation of NRK-52E cells was significantly in-hibited by H/R treatment. In comparison to the con-trol,H/R treatment of NRK-52E cells increased the proportion of cells in the G0 /G1 phase but decreased the proportion of cells in the S and G2 /M phases. Moreover, the over-expression of IMD resulted in S and G2 /Mphase redistribution and the accumulation of G2 /M-phase cells. The real-time PCR and western blotting results indicated that the mRNA and protein expression levels of cyclin D1 ,CDK4 and p57 were increased in H/R-treated cells.IMD further stimulated this up-reg-ulated expression of cyclin D1 ,CDK4 and decreased the expression of p57 in NRK-52E cells.④Cyclin D1 had a predominantly nuclear localization in NRK-52Ecells,although cytoplasmic localization was also ob-served.Conclusion The study shows that the over-expression of IMD may promote renal cell proliferation and regeneration after renal tubular cell H/R injury via the up-regulation of cyclin D1 ,CDK and the down-reg-ulation of p57.

The expressions of estrogen receptor (ER) α,ERβ1,and ERβ2 in thyroid carcinoma, thyroid adenoma, and adjacent normal thyroid tissue were determined by RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry, and the relationship of expression levels of three ERs and the main clinical pathologic parameters were evaluated. The result showed that ERα mRNA expression in papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC) tissues was significantly higher than adjacent normal tissue,while,ERβ2 mRNA expression in PTC tissues was significantly lower than normal tissue ( P<0.05 ).The positive expression of ERβ1 and ERβ2 in the thyroid carcinoma was related with the histological variant of carcinomas; the ERβ2 expressions were related with the lymph node metastasis and TNM staging of the carcinomas. These results suggest that the decreased ERβ2 expression may induce proliferation and carcinogenesis of thyroid follicular epithelial cells as well as progression of the carcinoma, and is a powerful prognostic indicator.
