Objective To observe the lung protection of Astragalus membranaceus against radiotherapy to intermediate-stage and terminal thoracic neoplasm, and its influence on TNF-α and ET expression.Methods The patients with intermediate-stage and terminal thoracic neoplasm under radiotherapy were divided into a treatment group and a control group.Patients in the treatment group took 10 ml of Asragalus membranaceus twice a day.for consecutive 6 months from the beginning of radio therapy.TNF-α and ET in the plasma were measured before and after the radiotherapy.The clinical symptom,iconographic changes and lung diffusion were observed from the 15th day of radiotherapy.Results The TNF-α and ET in plasma afterthe radiotherapy were(2.48±0.75)as/ml and(69.32±23.03)pg/ml for the treatment group,and(5.12±1.01)ns/ml and(97.87±37.83)pg/ml for the control group with the statistial difference(x2=7.49,6.57,P<0.001).The decrease of CO diffusion 5 and 10 months after the radiotherapy in the treatment group was statistically different compared with that in the control group(x2=3.98,3.78,P<0.05).There was a statistical difference of the incidence of acute radiation pneumonitis and pulmonary fibrosis between these two groups(P<0.05).Conclusions Astragalus membranaceus could inhibit the excess expression of TNF-α and ET in plasma and reduce the deterioration of diffusion after radiotherapy,so that it can be used for intervention of lung injuries from radiotherapy.

Referring to the rules for agricultural seed testing (GB /T 3543-1995) issued by China, the test of sampling, seed purity, weight per 1 000 seeds, seed moisture, seed viability and germination rate had been studied for screening seed quality test methods of Pesudostellaria heterophylla. The seed quality from different collection areas was measured. The results showed that at least 6.5 g seeds should be sampled and passed through 10-mesh sieve for purity analysis. The weight of 1 000 seeds was determined by using the 500-seed method. The phenotypic observation and size measurement were used for authenticity testing. The seed moisture was determined under the higher temperature (130 ± 2) degrees C for 5 hours. The seeds were dipped into 0.2% TTC sustaining 1 hour at 40 degrees C, then the viability could be determined. The break dormancy seeds were cultured on sand at 10 degrees C. K cluster analysis was applied for the data analysis, the seed quality from different collection areas grading of P. Heterophylla was described as three grades. The seed quality of each grade should reach following requirements: for first grade seeds, germination rate ≥ 86%, 1 000-grain weight ≥ 2.59 g, purity ≥ 87%, moisture ≤ 13.1%; for second grade seeds, germination rate ≥ 70%, 1 000-grain weight ≥ 2.40 g, purity ≥ 77%, moisture ≤ 14.3%; for third grade seeds, germination rate ≥ 41%, 1 000-grain weight ≥ 2.29 g, purity ≥ 76%, moisture ≤ 15.8%. The seed testing methods for quality items of P. heterophylla had been initially established, as well as the primary P. heterophylla seed quality classification standard.

OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of Qinzao jiufei decoction on radiation-induced lung injury and expression of plasma transforming growth factor beta-1(TGF-?1)and interleukin-1(IL-1).METHODS:Local middle and advanced thoracic tumor patients with radiotherapy were randomized into treatment group and control group. Both groups were given radiotherapy. Treatment group were additionally given Qingzao jiufei decoction (200 mL,b.i.d.) for 6 months. The level of TGF-?1 and IL-1 were determined before and after radiotherapy. After 15 days of radiotherapy,clinical symptoms,lung function and high-resolution CT manifestation of thorax were evaluated. Objective To investigate the relationship between the homocysteine,sperm DNA fragmentation index and sperm counts of male with severe impaired spermatoqenesis.Methods From December 2015 to February 2017,56 male patients with severe impaired spermatoqenesis were enrolled in the study.The patients were divided into two groups according to the WHO criteria:severe oligozoospermia and azoospermia group (n =25) and oligoasthenoteratozoospermia group (n =31),and the control group was a male with no reproductive impairment (n=27).The sperm parameters were analyzed by using the computer automatic semen analyzer,sperm DNA fragmentation index and serum Hcy level were detected by sperm chromatin diffusion method and enzyme colorimetric method.Results The median of Sperm DNA fragmentation index and homocysteine level in control groups were 33％ [95％CI(29.0％ ～34.4％)] and 13.2 μmol/L [95％CI(12.4 μmol/L～14.2 μmol/L)],and in severe spermatogenesis groups in these two indicators were 21％ [95％CI(19.0％ ～24.0％)] and 8.9 mol/L [95％CI(8.4 μmol/L～ 9.4 μmol/L)],respectively.The results of these two items were higher than the control group,the difference was statistically significant (t=6.793～7.543,P=0.000).Sperm survival rate in normal control group and severe spermatogenesis group was 71％ [95％ CI(67.8％ ～75.1％)] and 57％[95％CI(52.3％ ～58.0％)],respectively,and the difference was statistically significant (t=-8.475,P=0.000).Sperm DNA fragmentation index was positively correlated with serum Hcy level and sperm concentration,Passing-Bablok regression analysis was:Y=10.705 +0.053X,Y=21.071+0.286X,and Hcy level was negatively correlated with sperm concentration.Conclusion The increase of Hcy level and sperm DNA fragmentation index may be an importantcause of male with severe impaired spermatoqenesis,but the specific mechanism remains to be further studied.

Objective To characterize the clinical manifestations, laboratory findings of patients with occult sys?temic malignant neoplasms, whose initial manifestation presented as multiple acute cerebral infarcts including coagula?tion function,radiological imaging and microembolic signals (MES) detection by transcranial Doppler sonography (TCD) and to explore the possible underlying mechanisms. Methods All clinical records, laboratory hematological tests includ?ing hypercoagulable states measured by D-dimer levels, brain MRI including DWI, and TCD monitoring MES, the treat?ment and prognosis were retrospectively reviewed in 12 patients with multiple acute cerebral infarcts as the first manifes?tation of occult systemic malignancy. Results The clinical manifestations presented as localized neurological dysfunction, e.g. hemiparesis, aphasia, hemiparesthesia, dysarthria, vertigo and seizures, etc. DWI revealed multiple disseminated acute cerebral infarcts in multiple arterial territories such as the bilateral anterior or anterior plus posterior cerebral circu?lation in all patients. Eleven of 12 patients tested had elevated D-dimer. TCD detected MES in 5 of 7 patients. There were 12 patients diagnosed with occult systemic malignancy including 5 lung cancer, 3 pancreatic cancer, 1 gastric can?cer, 1 colon cancer, 1 endometrial adenocarcinoma and 1 metastatic poorly differentiated mucinous adenocarcinoma with unknown primary. Ten patients already had remote metastasis at diagnosis. The prognosis was usually poor and there were 7 cases with ischemic stroke recurrence, 4 cases with acute myocardial infarction, 3 cases died during hospitaliza?tion. Conclusions When patients present with multiple disseminated acute cerebral infarcts involving multiple arterial territories as initial manifestation, the underlying occult systemic malignancy should be considered. Hypercoagulopathy and MES might provide the clues to the diagnosis.

OBJECTIVETo determine the molecular mechanisms involved in atrial fibrosis which occurs in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and to investigate their effects on the initiation and maintenance of AF.

METHODSThe right atrial tissue samples were taken from 73 patients with rheumatic heart disease who underwent heart valve replacement surgery. 34 patients had no history of AF (sinus rhythm group), 9 patients had paroxysmal AF and 30 patients had persistent AF. The mRNA content of collagen type I, collagen type III, MMP-2, TIMP-1, TIMP-2, TIMP-3 and TIMP-4 was measured by semi-quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and normalized to beta-actin or GAPDH.

RESULTSCompared to sinus rhythm group, the mRNA of collagen type I and MMP-2 increased significantly in the persistent AF group (all, P < 0.01), followed by the paroxysmal AF group (all, P < 0.05). The mRNA of collagen type III was slightly higher in both AF groups than in the sinus rhythm group, but the differences were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). The mRNA of TIMP-1, TIMP-2 and TIMP-3 was down-regulated in the persistent AF group (all, P < 0.01, respectively), however, the trends of reduction did not reach statistical significance in the paroxysmal AF group (P > 0.05). The mRNA of TIMP-4 remained compatible in each group. The mRNA of collagen type I was significantly correlated with left atrial dimension (r = 0.336, P = 0.004) and AF duration (r = 0.339, P = 0.003). The mRNA of MMP-2 was significantly correlated with the mRNA of TIMP-2 (r = -0.326, P = 0.006), the mRNA of collagen type I (r = 0.322, P = 0.006), left atrial dimension (r = 0.300, P = 0.011) and AF duration (r = 0.300, P = 0.010).

CONCLUSIONThe increased level of collagen type I associated with selective downregulation of TIMP-2 and upregulation of MMP-2 gene expression in atrium could be one of the molecular mechanisms of atrial fibrosis during atrial fibrillation, which correlates with the initiation and maintenance of AF.

OBJECTIVETo provide new germplasm materials for breeding new varieties of Pseudostellaria heterophylla.

METHODThe method of single plant selection was adopted, with the comparative experiments being carried out under the same conditions in Shibing county. The 8 plants of Shibing SB-4 were compared respectively with factor analysis for 27 phenotypic traits and 8 yield traits, and single factor variance analysis for the contents of polysaccharides.

RESULTUsing factor analysis, 27 phenotypic traits were classified into 7 principal divisors and 8 yield traits were simplified into 3 principal divisors. The 4 strains of P. heterophylla, ZT-01, ZT-02, ZT-06 and ZT-07, performed better than others in the phenotypic traits, and ZT-01, ZT-02, ZT-03 and ZT-07 in the yield traits. The contents of polysaccharides of ZT-01, ZT-02, ZT-05 and ZT-08 showed significantly higher value.

CONCLUSIONThere is significant difference among the 8 strains of P. heterophylla in phenotypic traits, yield traits and quality traits, making it possible to select certain strains for different purposes. ZT-01 and ZT-02 can be breaded further. ZT-06 and ZT-07 were used as ornamental cultivars for its great phenotypic traits. ZT-03 with good resistance and high yield was taken as resistant variety, and ZT-05 would face next selection on the basis of its high content of polysaccharide.

OBJECTIVETo provide guidance for selection and breeding of Pesudostellaria heterophylla, agronomic traits of 3 mainly cultivated form of P. heterophylla were observed and compared in Guizhou shibing.

METHODThirteen agronomic traits of P. heterophylla from 3 cultivation form were measured and the traits were analyzed using multiple comparison, correlation analysis, multiple stepwise regression analysis and path analysis.

RESULTThe results showed that agronomic traits were different in 3 cultivation form, significant(P <0.05)or very significant correlated (P <0.01)among multiple agronomic traits, the width and the number of root, the first branch number, cleistogamous flowers, length and width of leaves, and the aboveground biomass were the main factors that affected the underground biomass, and the number of root, the aboveground biomass had a directly positive effect on the underground biomass. Meanwhile, whole length, length and width of leaves, cleistogamous flowers etc. had direct or indirect effect on the underground biomass.

CONCLUSIONAboveground biomass would be as the best indirect selection traits on breeding high yield of P. heterophylla, the first branch number, width of leaves and cleistogamous flowers world be as a better auxiliary index on breeding high variety of P. heterophylla.

OBJECTIVETo study the relationship between morphological characteristics of growth cycle for Epimedium acuminatium and accumulation level of secondary metabolites.

METHODAfter making habitat clear, methods of morphology observation, specimen preparation, organism charting were applied to record morphological characteristics of E. acuminatium at different stages. HPLC was employed to detect icariin content of different parts of the plant at the stage of vegetative growth and sexual reproduction.

RESULTThe growth cycle of E. acuminatium was divided into vegetative growth stage and sexual and asexual reproduction coexistence stage. Seven to eight years were needed for the plants flowering and seeding of E. acuminatimcan in open land of forest edge, but within good nutrition conditions, growth cycle is shortened into three to four years. The difference of icariin content in two growth stages was not significant.

CONCLUSIONMorphological change of lower and foliar organ can be utilized to estimate growth age. But after applying sexual propagation for both root and stem of grown plants, it's been difficult to determine their growth year. If individual biomass or yield is economical, plants can be harvested in both vegetative growth and sexual reproduction stages.

Objective To compare the scalp nerve block versus local infiltration of incision for in-tracranial aneurysm clipping under general anesthesia. Methods Fifty-seven American Society of Anesthe-siologists physical statusⅠorⅡpatients of both sexes, aged 18-64 yr, scheduled for elective intracranial aneurysm clipping under general anesthesia, were divided into 3 groups ( n=19 each) using a random num-ber table method:control group ( group C) , scalp nerve block group ( group S) and local infiltration of in-cision group ( group I) . Anesthesia was induced by intravenously injecting propofol, sufentanil and cisatra-curium. Bilateral supraorbital nerve (2 ml), supratrochlear nerve (2 ml), zygomaticotemporal nerve (2 ml), auriculotemporal nerve (2 ml), greater occipital nerve (3 ml), lesser occipital nerve (3 ml) and the third occipital nerve ( 1 ml) blocks were performed with 0. 75％ ropivacaine after tracheal intubation in group B. Local infiltration of incision was carried out with 0. 75％ ropivacaine 15 ml in group I. Anesthesia was maintained by intravenously infusing propofol and remifentanil to maintain bispectral index value at 40-60. The fluctuation range of mean arterial pressure and heart rate was not more than 20％ of the baseline, and vasoactive agents were administered when necessary. Oxycodone 0. 1 mg∕kg was intravenously injected at 30 min before the end of surgery to perform preemptive analgesia. When visual analogue scale score>3 with-in 48 h after surgery, oxycodone 2 mg was intravenously injected as rescue analgesic, and administration was repeated when necessary ( at an interval>15 min) . The intraoperative consumption of propofol, remifen-tanil and vasoactive agents was recorded. Arterial blood samples were collected before anesthesia induction and at 3, 12, 24, 48 and 72 h after surgery for determination of serum interleukin-6 ( IL-6) , IL-10 and C-reactive protein ( CRP ) concentrations by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The time of the first postoperative requirement for oxycodone and consumption of oxycodone within 48 h after surgery were recor-ded. The development of adverse reactions such as postoperative fever, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, respiratory depression, pruritus, local anesthetic intoxication, subcutaneous hematoma, and scalp infec-tion was also recorded. Results Compared with group C, the intraoperative consumption of remifentanil and requirement for nicardipine were significantly decreased, the concentration of serum IL-6 was decreased at 3 h after surgery, the concentration of serum CRP was decreased at 12 h after surgery, the concentration of serum IL-10 was increased at 12 and 24 h after surgery, the time of the first postoperative requirement for rescue analgesia was prolonged, the consumption of oxycodone was reduced, and the incidence of nausea and vomiting was decreased in group B, and the intraoperative consumption of remifentanil was significantly reduced in group I (P<0. 05). Compared with group I, the intraoperative consumption of remifentanil was significantly reduced, the requirement for nicardipine was decreased, the concentration of serum IL-6 was decreased at 3 h after surger-y, the concentration of serum CRP was decreased at 12 h after surgery, the concentration of serum IL-10 was in-creased at 12 and 24 h after surgery, the time of the first postoperative requirement for rescue analgesia was pro-longed, the consumption of oxycodone was reduced, and the incidence of nausea and vomiting was decreased in group B (P<0. 05). Conclusion Compared with local infiltration of incision, scalp nerve block is helpful in carrying out anesthetic model of low-consumption opioids and in maintaining intraoperative hemodynamics stable and is more helpful in inhibiting perioperative inflammatory and pain responses when used for the patients under-going intracranial aneurysm clipping under general anesthesia.
