OBJECTIVE: To study the genetic characteristics and phylogenetic relationships of dandelions of 20 populations by sequencing ITS sequence. METHODS: The ITS sequence was amplified by PCR with universal primer of ITS, and the ITS sequence of the PCR products was directly sequenced after purification. RESULTS: The total length of ITS sequence of different samples was 711 bp. The ITS sequence was divided into three fragments; ITS1 was 225 bp, 5.8S was 262 bp and ITS2 was 226 bp. In all samples 5.8S was comparatively conserved, while ITS1 and ITS2 had higher diversity in base sequence among the various specimens. CONCLUSION: ITS sequence can be used to analyze the phylogenetic relationships of different varieties of dandelions.

Objective To investigate the value of FDG PET-CT in the outcome assessment and prognostic evaluation for recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma (rNPC).Methods From January 2008 to December 2013,92 rNPC patients were treated in our center,who were histologically or radiologically diagnosed and re-staged according to the 2008 clinical staging system for nasopharyngeal carcinoma in China.The numbers of patients in stage Ⅰ,stage Ⅱ,stage Ⅲ,and stage Ⅳ were 8,11,39,and 34,respectively.According to the recurrent T stage (rT),the numbers of patients in rT1,rT2,rT3,and rT4 were 10,11,38,and 33,respectively.Twenty-eight patients had recurrence in the neck lymph nodes.All patients underwent pretreatment FDG PET-CT for the whole body or head/neck,and treated by radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy.The relationship of maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) and clinical factors with clinical outcomes was analyzed.The Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate overall survival (OS),disease-free survival (DFS),local recurrence-free survival (LRFS),regional recurrence-free survival (RRFS),and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS).The log-rank test was used for survival difference analysis and univariate prognostic analysis.The Cox model was used for multivariate prognostic analysis.Results The 3-year OS,DFS,LRFS,RRFS,and DMFS were 33.6％,32.1％,32.8％,31.8％,and 33.7％,respectively.The median SUVmax was 8.35 (2.7-21.5).The SUVmax of 7.0 was taken as the optimal cut-off value for all patients.Patients with SUVmax ≤7.0 had a significantly higher 3-year OS rate than those with SUVm ax ＞7.0 (42.0％ vs.28.3％,P=0.019).The univariate analysis revealed that patient age,SUV and rN were significantly associated with OS (P=0.023,0.019,and 0.002).The multivariate analysis showed that SUVmax and rN were significant influencing factors for OS,DFS,and DMFS (HR=1.68,P=0.045 and HR=2.23,P=0.003;HR=1.67,P=0.042 and HR=2.39,P=0.001;HR=1.77,P=0.025 and HR=2.40,P=0.001).Conclusions SUVmax may be one of the useful prognostic factors for OS,DFS,and DMFS in rNPC patients.

18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography (18F-FDG PET-CT) is the integration of functional imaging and anatomic information,which is found to be particularly valuable in TNM staging,tumor volume delineating,post-treatment assessment,identification of recurrent and residual nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).The combination of 18F-FDG PET-CT with other image technologies,different tracer agents,and specific molecular biomarkers can improve the application value of 18F-FDG PET-CT in NPC.

Objective:To investigate the effect of Vitapex paste in the root canal for deciduous teeth with chronic apical periodontitis.Methods:200 children with chronic apical periodontitis were selected and divided into two groups.The observation group (108 cases)was given Vitapex paste.The control group (92 cases) was given Zinc oxide iodoform paste.The effect of Vitapex paste in root canal for deciduous teeth with chronic apical periodontitis was evaluated by filling quality after 1 month'treatment,the VAS scores before and after treatment,long-term curative effect were compared between two groups.Results:After 1 month'treatment,the suitable filling rate of observation group was higher than that of the control group(P＜0.05).There was no statistical significance in the VAS scores between two groups (P＞0.05).After 1 week'and 1 month'treatment,the pain feeling were alleviated in two groups and significantly lighter in the observation group(P＜0.05).After 6 months' follow-up,the success rate was 96.3％ in the observation group and 87.0％ in the control group,the success rate of observation group was higher than that of the control group (P＜0.05).Conclusion:The filling process of Vitapex paste was simple and easy,which had a good therapeutic effect on chronic apical periodontitis of deciduous teeth and could relieve the toothache of patients.

Teaching and research section of orthodontics of the Affiliated Hospital of Stomatology of Chongqing Medical University took the lead in carrying out ‘ three early education' Students of stomatology in Chongqing Medical University established ‘ social practice volunteer team' and conducted ‘ three early education' in orthodontic clinic during winter,summer holiday and weekend.This let students of low grades contact with society,clinical practice and scientific research at early stage thus to comprehensively improve their overall quality.Questionnaire for student volunteers of the Affiliated Hospital of Stomatology of Chongqing Medical University showed that ‘ three early education' can effectively improve medical students' comprehensive quality.In the early stages of learning for students of stomatology,we cultivated students' occupation spirit,innovation consciousness,scientific literacy,clinical thinking and teamwork ability by strengthening training of students' social practice ability,communication ability,organization and coordination ability,professional interests,professional senses of belonging,team spirit and moral emotion.We achieved certain results and our experiences are worth extending.

ObjectiveTo explore the effect of intermedin pretreatment on repair and regeneration process of renal ischemia reperfusion (IR) injury.Methods Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups: sham group,IR group,empty plasmid group and IMD group.One week after removing the right kidney,eukaryotic expression vector encoding rat IMD gene was transfected into the left kidney using an ultrasound-microbubble-mediated system,and transfection effect was detected by Western blotting and RT-PCR.After successful transfection,renal IR injury model was induced by clamping left renal arteries for 45 minutes followed by reperfusion.BUN and Scr were tested.Renal pathology was observed by PAS and HE staining.The proliferation of tubular epithelial cells was detected by SABC immunohistochemical method.Results (1)The expression of IMD protein and mRNA in IMD group was significantly up-regulated compared to empty plasmid group(P＜0.05),reaching the peak at day 7,and the difference was not significant with that at day 4.(2)Compared with sham group,BUN and Scr were obviously increased at day 1and 2 in IR group(P＜0.05).However,compared with IR group,BUN and Scr in IMD group decreased obviously(P＜0.05).Differences between IR group and empty plasmid group were not significant(P＞0.05).(3)Kidney tubules in IR group,IMD group and empty plasmid group were injuryed,but the injury in IMD group was less serious compared with that in IR group and empty plasmid group.The injury in three groups was the most severe at day 2 after reperfusion.(4)The number of PCNA positive cells evidently increased at day 7 in IR group and empty plasmid group,but the number of PCNA positive cell evidently increased at day 3 in IMD group.Compared with IR group 1 to 4 days after perfusion,PCNA positive cells in IMD group increased obviously (P＜0.05).Compared with IR group day 7,PCNA expression in IMD group 7 d was obviously decreased(P＜ 0.05).Conclusion IMD pretreatment can induce tubular epithelial cells proliferative and accelerate the repair and regeneration progress in IR injury kidneys.

The expressions of estrogen receptor (ER) α,ERβ1,and ERβ2 in thyroid carcinoma,thyroid adenoma,and adjacent normal thyroid tissue were determined by RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry,and the relationship of expression levels of three ERs and the main clinical pathologic parameters were evaluated.The result showed that ERα mRNA expression in papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC) tissues was significantly higher than adjacent normal tissue,while,ERβ2 mRNA expression in PTC tissues was significantly lower than normal tissue ( P＜0.05 ).The positive expression of ERβ1 and ERβ2 in the thyroid carcinoma was related with the histological variant of carcinomas; the ERβ2 expressions were related with the lymph node metastasis and TNM staging of the carcinomas.These results suggest that the decreased ERβ2 expression may induce proliferation and carcinogenesis of thyroid follicular epithelial cells as well as progression of the carcinoma,and is a powerful prognostic indicator.

Objective To investgate the application of overall hemostasis potential (OHP) experiment in the high-risk population of prethrombotic state (PTS). Methods The change of absorbance in fibrin formation and degradation was measured with a spectrophotometer at 340 nm when the plasma clotting was triggered by the low concentration of TF in the presence of urokinase. The OHP,overall coagulation potential (OCP) and the overall fibrinolysis potential (OFP) were obtained from the coagulation-fibrinolysis curve based on the computer analysis. To evaluate this OHP method,52 cancer patients,31 coronary artery disease patients,27 mid/late-stage pregnancy women and 100 healthy controls were detected. In addition,the plasma fibrinogen was detected and its correlation with OHP was studied. Results The level of OCP and OHP in PTS high-risk population was significantly higher in cancer,coronary heart disease patients and the mid/late-stage pregnancy women than in the healthy controls (P0.05). Conclusion The OHP assay may indicate the hemostatic balance; therefore,it can be used for evaluation of PTS.
