Objective To explore the effect of pedicle fixation for treatment of thoracolumbar burst fractures in patients with osteoporosis, and to provide more evidence for the treatment. Methods Retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 121 patients with osteoporotic vertebral burst fracture from June 2012 to October 2015.And these patients were divided into two groups according to different operation methods, namely the control group (n=56) who were given short segment fixation and the observation group (n=65) who were given single segment fixation. The visual analogue scale(VAS),Oswestry disability index(ODI),vertebral height, kyphotic angle and bone mineral density of the two groups were analyzed before surgery and 3 days,1 month,3 months and 12 months after surgery. Results The VAS score,ODI score, vertebral height, and Cobb angle of the injured vertebra were significantly improved in both of the two groups, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The VAS score of the observation group was better than that of the control group 3 days after surgery with statistically significant difference (P<0.05).But there was no significant difference 3 months,6 months and 12 months after surgery(P>0.05).The ODI score of the observation group was better than that of the control group 3 days and 3 months after surgery with statistically significant difference (P<0.05),and there was no significant difference between the two groups till the end of follow-up.Pedicle fixation at the injured vertebra significantly improved the vertebral height and Cobb angle with statistically significant difference (P<0.05).And the anti-osteoporosis treatment significantly increased the bone mineral density (P<0.05).Conclusion Pedicle fixation at the injured vertebra is useful in pain relief as well as function and anatomical structure restoring. And anti-osteoporosis treatment is necessary for the bone mineral density increase.

Objective To evaluate the effect of asymptomatic hyperuricemia on the postoperative functional recovery in osteoarthritis (OA)patients with knee joint replacement. Methods Among the 294 patients who recieved knee joint replacement in our hospital from Feb-ruary 2013 to September 2015,a total of 187 patients were included in this study with 79 cases in the hyperuricemia group and the other 108 cases in the control group. The WOMAC index of the two groups were analyzed before the surgery,2 weeks,3 months, and 6 months after the knee joint replacement surgery.Multivariable linear regression was performed to test the effect of impact factors on the variation of WOMAC index. Results The WOMAC index of the two groups significantly increased 2 weeks after surgery, and the difference was statistically signifi-cant(P <0.05).And the WOMAC index of the control group was higher than that in the hyperuricemia group 2 weeks and 3 months after sur-gery with statistically significant difference(P <0.05).Conclusion The uric acid level before surgery was a influence factor of WOMAC index, and high uric acid level before knee joint replacement has negatively impact for the postoperative functional recovery in the osteoarthritis patients.

Objective To investigate the differences of 10-week running and badminton exercise on bone mineral density(BMD) and related biochemistry markers in female university student. Methods Sixty healthy female university students were randomly divided into running(R) group, badminton(B) group and control group.Apart from basic physical education class, the R and B group participated in running and badminton exercise respectively(30-40 min per time,3 times per week,10 weeks). Before and after test, the BMD of lumbar vertebra and femurs, the serum level of estradiol(E2) and testosterone(T),the serum level of alkaline phosphatase(ALP)and tartrate resistant acid phosphatase(TRACP) were all detected. Results After test, there were no significant difference on BMD in all parameters of the three groups(P>0.05).After test, the serum level of E2 and TRACP in R group were significant higher than those in control group(t=-3.351,t=-0.854,P<0.05),the serum level of Ca was significant lower than that in control group(t=-1.852,P<0.05).Comparison between before test and after test, the serum level of E2 and P increased significantly in R group(P<0.05),while the serum level of TRACP decreased significantly(P<0.05),the serum level of P and Ca increased in the three groups(P<0.05),while no differences were seen in the other parameters. Conclusion The effects of running exercise on serum level of E2 and TRACP were higher than badminton exercise.

Phytochemical investigation of the roots of Scrophularia buergeriana Miq. (Scrophulariaceae), resulted in the isolation of a new iridoid derivative named as buergerinin (1). Its structure was elucidated as rel-(1R, 5R, 6R)-(2-oxa-bicyclo[3.3.0]oct-7-en-6, 7-diyl)dimethoxypropane based mainly on MS and 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic analyses.

OBJECTIVETo explore the clinical effects of anterior decompression and fusion with a nano-hydroxyapatite/ polyamide 66 (n-HA/PA66) cage in treating lower cervical fracture and dislocation.
METHODSFrom January 2008 to December 2010, the clinical data of 42 patients with lower cervical fracture and dislocation were retrospectively analyzed. There were 29 males and 13 females aged from 20 to 65 years old. The mean age was 46.8 years. Five cases got injuried in C3, 14 cases in C4, 12 cases in C5, 7 cases in C6 and 4 cases in C7. According to Frankel grade, 4 cases were classified in grade A, 11 cases in grade B, 13 cases in grade C, 9 cases in grade D and 5 cases in grade F. Twenty-eight cases were treated with anterior corpectomy and fusion and 14 cases with anterior discectomy and fusion. Frankel grade was used to do neurologic assessment and visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to evaluate the improvement of clinical symptoms. Segmental height and sagittal lordosis were measured by radiographs and cage location. Cage appearance and fusion status were assessed by 3D-CT images.
RESULTSAll patients were followed up for 3 to 5.2 years with an average of 4.1 years. Frankel grade had obviously improved than preoperative (Z = -4.845, P < 0.001). There were 2, 3, 11, 8, 11 cases classified in grade A, grade B, grade C, grade D and grade E respectively. At the third day after operation and latest follow-up,VAS was (2.6 +/- 1.8),(1.3 +/- 1.0) scores respectively. Both had improved than preoperative (P < 0.05). Up to the latest follow-up, there was only one patient (2.4%) with slight cage translocation (less than 2 mm), however, no cage prolapsed, or collapse, or breakage were found. Both segmental height and lordosis improved significantly after surgery (P < 0.001). And there was not significant difference in both parameters between each postoperative time points (P > 0.05). The mean distance of cage subsidence was 1.5 mm and the rate of cage subsidence (> 3 mm) was 4.8%.
CONCLUSIONThe n-HA/PA66 cage can not only restore and maintain the fusion segmental height and radian, but also promote the osseous fusion and profit the radiographic assessment after operation. Thus, it was an ideal material for prop graft.
