To detect the expression of the human papilloma virus (HPV) 16 and HPV18 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in Minnan area. Methods: Real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (FQ-PCR) was applied to detect HPV DNA in 100 esophageal carcinoma sample and 100 normal tissues beside the tumor. Results:The positive rates of high-risk HPV 16 and HPV 18 infection in Minnan esophageal carcinoma and in normal tissues beside the tumor were 14.00%, 15.00%and 7.00%, 8.00%, respectively. The positive rates of lymph node and non-lymph node metastases were 40.98%and 10.25%, respectively. These re-sults exhibited statistical significance (P<0.01). HPV 16 and HPV 18 infection was uncorrelated with patient age, pathological type, and tumor grade (P>0.05). Conclusion:HPV16 and HPV 18 infection was correlated to esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in Minnan ar-eas. Such infection may also contribute to the occurrence and development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

By direct communication between clinicians and laboratorians, obstacles between clinical work and laboratory diagnosis were unequivocally found at an academic conference. Many clinical physicians feel disappointed and frustrated at the laboratory diagnosis by semen analysis and frankly express their expectations, as to recognize the role and significance of laboratory diagnosis, understand the value of routine semen analysis, work out the puzzles in the analysis of sperm morphology, fulfil the requirements for the identification of cells in semen, and obtain responses from and initiate discussions among laboratorians about the relevant questions. Both laboratorians and clinicians are appealing for strengthened management and earlier establishment of national standards and operating specifications for laboratory diagnosis by semen analysis.

Objective To clone and bioinformatically analyze the full-length sequence of F protein binding protein 1 (FBP1). Methods Yeast two-hybrid system was employed to obtain an unknown gene and named it as FBP1.The coding sequence of FBP1 was cloned using molecular biological techniques. Results The coding sequence of FBP1 was cloned successfully. Conclusion FBP1, a cellular protein binding to F protein of HCV, plays an important role in the interaction of virus protein and host cell protein.

To generate recombinant adenovirus expression vector of human Sema4C gene and observe its expression in mouse myoblasts cell line C2C12 for ensuring easy access to investigate the role of Sema4C gene during myogenesis. The recombinant plasmid was packaged and amplified after being transfected in HEK293 cells through Lipofectamine. After infecting C2C12 myoblasts with recombinant adenovirus vector, the adenoviral infection efficiency was determined by confocal microscope which showed that the expression of green fluorescence could be detected at 12h and then reached peak at 24h after recombinant adenovirus infection. The infection efficiency was almost 100% confirmed by FACS examination. To explore the clinical diagnosis methods of SARS virus infection, and analyze the value of ELISA by which the SARS-Ab was detected. The results show ed that the control group was negative, the positive detection rate was respective ly 2.7% and 92% before and after 12 days when the patients got the SARS in the t est group, and the total positive rate was 94.4%. But the detection rate was 3 1% among 29 suspected patients. In a word, the ELISA method was high specified. Th e detection rate was lower before 12 days and higher after 13 to 16 days when th e patients got the SARS.

The evaluation of quality of life after stroke primarily includes body,psychology, society,and the ability of activities of daily living,and they can be mainly obtained from self rating quality of life by the patients,The commonly used evaluation methods include six generic measurement scales and four updated Stroke Specific Quality of Life Scales.The latter includes the Stroke Adapted Sickness Impact Profile,the Stroke Impact Scale,Stroke Specific Quality of Life Scales,and Stroke and Aphasia Quality of Life Scale.This article reviews the generic meas- urement scales,Stroke Specific Quality of Life Scales and the various factors that influencing quality of life after stroke.
