1.The relation of MIF level in serum and the stages and lymphnode metastasis in patients with colorectal cancer
Journal of Chinese Physician 2009;11(4):456-457
Objective To study the relationship between serum macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) levels and clinical features in the patients with colorectal cancer. Methods Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays was used to detect the concentration of MIF in sera of 75 patients with colorectal cancer (35 case with primary colorectal cancer and 40 cases with lymphnode metastasis of colorectal cancer) and 40 healthy controls. The relationship between serum MIF levels and clinical features was analyzed. Results Serum MIF was found to be significantly elevated in the patients with colorectal cancer(mean value 31.2ng/ml) compared with healthy subjects (mean value 13.6ng/ml) (P <0. 001). The levels of MIF in colorectal cancer were significantly correlated with advanced clinical progression pathology stages (P <0. 05) and lymph node metastasis (P < 0. 05). Conclusions Increased expression level of MIF in serum may promote the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer and M1F is closely associated with the stages and lymph node metastasis of colorectal cancer.

Background:Damage of intestinal mucosal barrier is a key factor in the development and progress of acute pancreatitis(AP),and is closely related with the prognosis of the disease. Aims:To investigate the protective effect and possible mechanism of mucoprotective agent teprenone on intestinal mucosal barrier in rats with experimental AP. Methods:Forty-five adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into normal control group(n = 5),AP model group(n = 20)and teprenone treated group(n = 20). AP model was established by subcutaneous injection of cerulein at abdominal wall. Rats in treated group were intervened with teprenone intragastrically before and after model establishment. ELISA was used for measurement of serum interleukin-1(IL-1),IL-6,tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and amylase;histopathological and ultrastructural changes of small intestinal mucosa were observed by light microscope and transmission electron microscope;Western blotting was used to detect the expressions of tight junction protein occludin and ZO-1. Results:Serum levels of IL-1,IL-6,TNF-α and amylase in AP model group were significantly higher than those in normal control group(P < 0. 05),accompanied by necrosis and exfoliation of small intestinal villus, widening of intercellular tight junctions and downregulation of occludin and ZO-1 expression. While in teprenone treated group, serum levels of proinflammatory cytokines and amylase were significantly decreased as compared with AP model group(P < 0. 05),the villus of small intestine remained intact, and dense tight junctions were observed. Expressions of occludin and ZO-1 in teprenone treated group were upregulated. Conclusions:Teprenone may protect against intestinal mucosal barrier injury in AP model rats by upregulating tight junction protein expression.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of Xuezhikang in the treatment of type 2 diabetes with hyperlipoidemia. METHODS: Retrieved from Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, CBM, VIP and CNKI databases and related periodicals, included randomized controlled trails (RCTs) was evaluated in quality. Meta-analysis was conducted with RevMan 5.0 software. RESULTS: The meta-analysis of 6 included RCT showed that the improvement of TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, FBS, 2 h-BS, HbA1c, UAE in trial group were different from control group. There was statistical significance in difference between 2 groups. CONCLUSION: Routine glycemic control combined with Xuezhikang has better effect than routine glycemic control in the treatment of type 2 diabetes with hyperlipoidemia. Because the number and quality of included study are not satisfactory, the study result should be confirmed by randomized double-blind controlled trial.

Objective To detect the level of Th1 and Th2 type cytokines of peripheral blood CD+3 T lymphocytes in patients with breast cancer, in order to find out the laboratory evidence of tumor immunotherapy. Methods The peripheral blood lymphocytes were stimulated by stimulator in order to enhance expression of cytokines. Specific fluorochrome-conjugated monoclonal antibody combined with antigen. Cytokines were detected by flow cytometry and ELISA. Results Both the cytokines secreted by CD+3 T lymphocytes and serum cytokines showed that the level of Th1 type cytokines such as interferon-?(IFN-?), interleukin-2(IL-2), interleukin-12(IL-12) were significantly lower in patients of breast cancer than those of normal controls. The level of Th2 type cytokines such as interleukin-4(IL-4), interleukin-10(IL-10) were higher in patients of breast cancer than those of normal controls. There was significant difference between them. The level of tumor necrosis factor ? (TNF-?)in patients were significant higher than normal control. Conclusion Th1/Th2 was imbalance in mammary cancer. Th1 type cytokines were inhibited, and Th2 type cytokines were relatively enhanced, so Th1/Th2 shift to Th2. It maybe the mechanism of tumor arising and transferring by immune escaped from immunosurveillance.
