China Oncology 2009;19(8):637-640
Thyroid carcinoma is one of the most common diseases in the head and neck area. With the advance of innovative technologies like ultrasound ,fine-needle aspiration and PET-CT, the number of patients diagnosed as thyroid carcinoma has grow rapidly during the past ten years. As a special structure in papillary tumors and appearing as microcalcification in the imaging examination, psammoma body has been considered of great significance in the diagnosis of thyroid carcinoma. Psammoma body has unique features in terms of pathology, cytology and imageology. The study of the mechanism of psammoma body formation is very important for the clinic to differentiate the disease from others. In this article, we summarized the role of psammoma body in the study of thyroid cancer.
5.Questionnaire-based research on the international communicative competence of traditional Chinese medicine professionals
International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2014;(6):494-497
An online questionnaire to 103 professionals of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) was conducted to acquire their recognition and understanding of international communicative competence. The results showed that foreign language communicative competence and solid medical knowledge are considered the most important qualities while the importance of global vision, strategic thinking, cross-cultural awareness/sensitivity and communicative strategy is comparatively underestimated. It was proposed that domestic TCM universities and colleges strive to improve the soft skills for TCM professionals and cultivate more interdisciplinary TCM talents armed with professional expertise, foreign language communicative competence as well as international and multicultural awareness.
6.Influence of basic osteoporosis intervention on 25-hydroxy vitamin D level, lower limb muscle strength and its balance function among Chinese elderly people
Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2014;33(10):1135-1138
Objective To observe influence of basic osteoporosis intervention on the 25-hydroxy vitamin D[25(OH)D] levels, low limb muscle strength and its balance function among Chinese elderly people. Methods Cross sectional study and statistics analysis were performed among total 1026 elderly (≥65years) patients from 16 hospitals throughout China.Daily taking amount of dairy products, calcium, vitamin D supplement, sunlight and physical exercise were recorded.Serum 25 (OH) D level was measured.Limb muscle strength and balance tests were performed. Results Daily intake of dairy products was insufficient in more than 42.0% (430 cases) participating patients. The average sunlight time of participating patients was (1.2 ± 0.8) h per day.The average physical exercise time was (1.2 ± 0.7) h per day.37.7 % (387 cases) participating patients took supplemental calcium and vitamin D.36.8% (278 cases)participating patients took supplemental calcium. The 25 (OH) D level was less than 50 nmol/L in 77.2% (792 cases) participating patients, while 50~75 nmol/Lin 16.7%(171 cases).48.7% (474/973),64.6%(624/966)and 63.6% (614/966) patients were in high fall risk according to the timed up and go test(TUG),chair rising test(CRT) and tandem gait test(TGT),which showed that the levels of 25 (OH) D deficiency were positively correlated with the elderly fall risk. Conclusions Daily intake of dairy products, sunlight, calcium and ordinary vitamin D supplement are insufficient among Chinese elderly people.Decreases of muscle strength and balance function among elderly people are related to 25 (OH) D levels.Exercise, not Vitamin D supplement, can reduce fall risk through improving muscle strength and balance function in elderly people.
7.International research status of medical tourism and its implications for China
Chinese Journal of Health Policy 2014;(11):59-63
Drawing on recently published foreign literature, this paper comprehensively analyses the research status of medical tourism from the concept of decision-making factors and risks for tourists, as well as the impacts of medical tourism. For future research, it proposes a greater focus on medical tourists, caregiver-companions and medi-cal tourism facilitators. To promote the development of Chinese medical tourism, a development model must be con-structed, international medical services, consummate policies, and regulations must be in place, and medical tourism personnel must be trained and welcomed.
8.Prediction of HLA-A~*0201-restricted CTL epitopes in SARS-CoV E protein
Qing WANG ; Yuzhang WU ;
Journal of Third Military Medical University 2002;0(12):-
Objective To predict the HLA A *0201 restricted CTL epitopes (nonamers) in SARS coronavirus (SARS CoV) E protein. Methods The CTL epitopes of E protein were predicted by using supermotif method combined with quantitative matrix method. Results Thirteen HLA A *0201 restricted CTL epitope candidates were predicted in SARS CoV E protein. Conclusion The prediction of the CTL epitopes in SARS CoV E protein will benefit the identification of CTL epitopes by experiment. Those results are of importance for immune recognition and vaccine design for SARS CoV.
9.Analysis of urogenital Ureaplasma urealyticum infection and their drug tolerance
International Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2008;29(5):412-413
Objective To investigate the status of urogenital Ureaplasma urealyticum (Uu) infection and their drug tolerance in our area,so as to guide rational administration for the clinic. Methods Mycoplasma culture and drug susceptibility test were performed for 771 patients with urogenital infaction. The culture, identification and drug resistance of mycoplasma were carried out with one complex mycoplasma kit. Results The positive rate of Uu was 49.9%. The proportional percentage of males was 12.5% and the Uu positive rate was 22.3%,for females, the proportional percentage and Uu positive rate was 87.5% and 60.6% respectively. The population aged 21-40 was susceptible to Uu infection. The most sensitive antibioties to Uu was clindamycin (95.12%),followed by doxycycline (87.57%) and roxithromycin (86.24%).Conclusion The difference of Uu drug sensitivty was significant in different areas. So it is necessary to select antibioties by drug sensitivity. Clindamycin, doxycycline and roxithromycin may are used as preferred antibioties in treating Uu infection in our area. The drug-resistance status of spectinomycin and lincomycin was serious.
10.Efficacy of pulse index continuous cardiac output monitoring in maintaining adequate blood volume in patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting
Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 2008;28(9):840-842
Objective To investigate the efficacy of pulse index continuous cardiac output (PICCO) monitoring in maintaining adequate blood volume in patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OP-CABG).Methods Forty-seven ASA Ⅰ-Ⅲ patients aged 43-64 yr weighing 50-85 kg undergoing OP-CABG were included in this study. Global end-diastolic volume (GEDV), extravascular lung water (EVLW), global end-diastolic volume index (GEDVI), MAP, cardiac output (CO) and cardiac index (CI) were monitored by using PICCO monitor before induction of anesthesia (baseline), at the end of operation and at 4 and 8 h after operation. Blood volume was maintained during operation by adjusting the volume and infusion rate of succinyl gelatin and lactated Ringer's solution according to volume indexes and hemodynamic indexes. GEDVI was maintained at 600-800 ml/m2 and Hct≥30% by transfusion of whole blood or erythrocyte suspension;MAP was maintained at 70-90 mm Hg by intravenous infusion of nitroglycerine (0.5-1.0 μg·kg-1·min-1) or diltiazem (2-6 μg·kg-1·min-1); HR was maintained at≤75 bpm by intravenous dopamine infusion (3-5 μg·kg-1·min-1). The oxygen delivery index(DO2 I) and oxygen consumption index (VO2 I) were calculated. Arterial blood samples were taken for blood gas analysis. Results The CI, DO2I and VO2I were increased at the end of operation, and at 4 h and 8 h after operation as compared with the baseline values before induction of anesthesia (P<0.05 or 0.01). Conclusion Perioperative blood volume can be well maintained with PICCO monitoring in patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting.
