A case of stasis dermatitis with hepatomegaly is reported. The patient is 50 year old male. About 3 years ago a dark-brownish macule on the left shin was appeared with the severe itching sensation and spread to the margin with edema, ulceration, and appeared the varricous veins on the margin, Biopsy on the ulceration revealed the hemociderin deposition and fibrosis in the dermis. The physical examination revealed that the liver was enlarged 3cm, below the right costal margin and liver biopsy showed early cirrhotic change, but without impairment of liver function. He was treated with massage, elastic bandage for 2 weeks with good response.

5.Status of parasitic infection diagnosed by surgical biopsy in Kwangju and Chollanam-do.

The Korean Journal of Parasitology 1994;32(2):93-100
: In order to know the species and frequency of human parasitic infection diagnosed by biopsy, 149 cases (0.18%) of parasitic infection were reviwed, which were selected from 80,947 biopsied materials submitted for routine histopathological examination during a period of 10 years from 1980 to 1989 at Department of Pathology, Chonnam National University Hospital. They consisted of 112 cases of cysticercosis, 17 paragonimiasis, 7 clonorchiasis, 4 amebiasis, 1 sparganosis, 1 enterbiasis, 1 aniskiasis, and 1 fascioliasis respectively. Based on morphological preservation of cysticercus, they could be divided into mild (20.2%), morderate (40.4%), and severe (39.4%) degeneration. Except 2 cases biopsied at the lungs, 15 cases of ectopic paragonimiasis were located at abdominal cavity (8 cases) and central nervous system (7 cases). One case of intrahepatic fascioliasis was observed. This is the 13th human fascioliasis reported in Korea. From the above results, the frequency of parasitic infections found in biopsied specimens was on the decrease as the cysticercosis and ectopic paragonimiasis.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1986;22(5):743-760
Since Oct. 1, 1983 until April 15, 1986, authors analyzed variable combined imaging diagnosis andhistopathologic correlation for confirmed 100 breast carcinoma among 2773 patients whom authors took care of them.1. Incidence of female breast carcinoma was 3.6% among 2773 patients who visited Yong Dong Severance Hospital, andoverall breast carcinoma occupied 29.7% among 337 confirmed breast diseases. 2. Prevalent cancer age for Koreanwomen breast carcinoma was ages between 40-49 years old(42%) however authors experienced 5% breast carcinoma amongtwentieth, and 22% breast carcioma among thirtieth. 3. Most common histopathologic type for breast carcinoma wasinfiltrating ductal carcinoma, scirrhous type(65). And most common breast parenchymal pattern related to breastcarcinoma was DY pattern(42%) followed by N1 pattern(25%). 4. Common film mammographic findings of breastcarcinoma were: ill defined bordered mass(68.4%), spiculation of mass(82.9%), vessel dilatation (59.8%) and thencalcification (44.4%). 5. Frequently visible ultramammographic findings were; irregular mass contour(79.6%),nonuniform internal echoes(87.0%), and posterior wall shadowing (86.0%). 6. Trials of above combined imagingmodalities for breast carcinoma resulted in his sensitivity of diagnosis(93.3%).

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1982;17(5):933-936
Congenital anomalies of the hand were reviewed, which were treated at Seoul National University Hospital from 1973 to 1982. The Conclusions are as follows. 1. Polydactyly is the most common congenital anomaly of the hand in this series. The next common congenital hand anomalies are trigger digit, syndactyly in that order. 2. Better results had been obtained with early reconstructive surgery within one year after birth. 3. Authors propose a new classification of polydactyly. In Joint type (type 1), the extradigit has its own epiphysis in its origin, and in Epiphyseal plate type (type 2) the extradigit do not have its own epiphyseal plate and seems to be derived from the physis of the more developed adjacent digit. We observed 22 cases of joint type and 10 cases of epiphyseal plate type. 4. 6 cases of macrodactyly had been observed. The complicated reconstructive surgery such as Tsuge and Barsky operation resulted in digital necrosis. So more simple and effective operation such as symphalangization would be attempted.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1985;20(3):485-494
27 Colles' fracture were treated with closed reduction and percutaneous k-wire fixation under the C-arm fields, from July 1980 to September 1984 at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery of Eul Ji Hospital. The average duration of the follow up was 4.9 Months. A prospective study was made and evaluated under the subjective and objective criteria of Gartland and Werley, and the objective criteria of Scheck. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The incidence was high in 4th and 5th decade as 66. 5%, not significant between females and males, 45% of the cause of injury was falling accident. 2. In 27 cases, showed the satisfactory result about 92.6%, but, in the eomminuted intraarticular fracture group, 2(15.4%) out of 13 cases showed unsatisfactory result. 3. Better result was obtained with more secure reduction and skillful technique, in certain case, considered that the open reduction and internal fixation with k-wires would be better than percutaneous k-wire fixation. 4. In the aspect of hand motion and the concept of improved anatomical restoration and maintenance would lead to improved function, ideal method was percutaneous k-wire fixation and casting after closed reduction under the C-arm fields.

9.Computed Tomography in Pelvic Fracture

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1985;20(6):1053-1060
Computed tomography (CT) has been shown to be useful in evaluation of the intracranial lesion. But now, computed tomography has been appealing as a new radiologic modality applicable to diagnosis and treatment in orthopaedic surgery. The two-dimentional picture, in one tomographic cut of any part under investigation, was able to increase the sensitivity or resolution of detection of lesion and able to overcome the disadvanages of conventional roentgenography. Eighteen patients who injuried pelvic fracture were examined by computed tomography after evaluated by plain radiography and occasionally by standard tomography. In six cases, we get a new additional diagnosis which are not found in conventional radiography. We have found that CT was more sensitive than plain radiography in detecting the sacroiliac joint injury and its around structure injury and hip joint integrity. Of more importance, clinical sign and symptom are valuable in diagnostic process.

Korean Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy 1988;8(1):29-32
Early gastric cancer is defined carcinoma that is limited to the gastric mucosa and submucosa and that does not extend into the muscularis propria. The development and widespread use of upper gnstrointestinal endoscopy with biopsy and cytology have enhanced our ability to make early diagnosis of gastrie carcinoma. Gastric cancinoma is being diagnosed at an ealry stage aad the survival rates for these patients are significantly greater than those with advanced gastric carcinoma. These ealry lesion can be cured in over 90% of the cases. In fact, it is almost impossible to follow up cases of early gastric cancer without surgical treatment. We report a case developed advanced gastric carcinoma 34 months after initial endoseopic diagnosis of early gastric cancer. A, 48-year-old woman was diagnosed early gaatrie cancer on June 21, 1985 by endoscopy. Proper surgical intetvention was not carried out due to her liver cirrhosis. The follow-up endoscopic examination was done on March 16, 1988. The gastric cancer looked like an advanced stomach and extended to other site.
