3.Diagnostic Significance of Serum IGF-I Level in Growth Hormone Deficiency.

PURPOSE:Insuline-like growth factor I(IGF-I) is polypeptide mitogen and mediate growth effect of growth hormone(GH). It's serum level is regulated by GH. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether -2 standard deviation of IGF-I level in normal short stature after insuline and L-dopa stimulation test has any diagnostic significance in GH deficiency. METHOD:We included 64 children with GH deficiency(complete GH deiciency 18 cases, partial GH deficiency 46 cases). Their height was below 10 percentile of korean children's standard growth chart. Control group was 175 children whose test results were normal after insuline and L-dopa stimulation test. Serum growth hormone level was measured by IRMA(immunoradiometric assay) with "Daiichi" kit(Japan) and serum IGF-I level was measured with 125I RIA kit (U.S.A). RESULTS: 1)Serum IGF-I level in normal stimulation test result group was increased with the age and the level was higher in female than that of male. 2)Using the cut-off value of -2SD of IGF-I level in control group, sensitivity was 17.2%, specificity was 98.86%, positive predictive value was 84.62%, negative predictive value was 76.55%, and test accuracy was 76.99%. Sensitivity and test accuracy was 44.44% and 93.26% in th complete GH deficiency, respectively. 3)Serum IGF-I level was significantly correlated with peak GH level with insuline stimulation test in control and GH deficiency group(Y=0.018889X+11.32 r= 0.23930 P=0.0014, Y=0.008592X+4.189 r=0.28141 P=0.0267). But serum IGF-I level was was not correlated with peak GH level with L-dopa stimulation test(Y= 0.005609X+13.88 r=0.06625 P=0.3823, Y=0.008293X+2.98 r=0.20895 P=0.1031). CONCLUSION: Serum IGF-I level in GH deficiency group was lower than that of control group and had wide variation of normal range. Based upon above results IGF-I level has limited clinical value in the diagnosis of GH deficiency.

7.Studies for Korean women breast carcinoma using combined imaging diagnosis

Since Oct. 1, 1983 until April 15, 1986, authors analyzed variable combined imaging diagnosis andhistopathologic correlation for confirmed 100 breast carcinoma among 2773 patients whom authors took care of them.1. Incidence of female breast carcinoma was 3.6% among 2773 patients who visited Yong Dong Severance Hospital, andoverall breast carcinoma occupied 29.7% among 337 confirmed breast diseases. 2. Prevalent cancer age for Koreanwomen breast carcinoma was ages between 40-49 years old(42%) however authors experienced 5% breast carcinoma amongtwentieth, and 22% breast carcioma among thirtieth. 3. Most common histopathologic type for breast carcinoma wasinfiltrating ductal carcinoma, scirrhous type(65). And most common breast parenchymal pattern related to breastcarcinoma was DY pattern(42%) followed by N1 pattern(25%). 4. Common film mammographic findings of breastcarcinoma were: ill defined bordered mass(68.4%), spiculation of mass(82.9%), vessel dilatation (59.8%) and thencalcification (44.4%). 5. Frequently visible ultramammographic findings were; irregular mass contour(79.6%),nonuniform internal echoes(87.0%), and posterior wall shadowing (86.0%). 6. Trials of above combined imagingmodalities for breast carcinoma resulted in his sensitivity of diagnosis(93.3%).

8.Factors associated with the person-centered care competence of nursing students

Purpose:
The main purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing person-centered care competence in nursing students.
Methods:
The study was conducted in two universities located in the D and J cities of South Korea. Participants were 130 senior nursing students who had experienced clinical practice for at least 3 months. Data were collected from September 7-10, 2019, using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using a hierarchical multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 23.0.
Results:
The Factor influencing person-centered care competence was compassion competence (β=.49, p<.001) and the explanatory power of this variable was 30% (F=10.98, p<.001).
Conclusion
According to the results of this study, nursing faculties need to develop programs and learning content to enhance learners’ compassion competence for promotion of person-centered care competence.

The study was conducted to identify the influencing factors the quality of work life in emergency nurses during prolonged COVID-19.
Methods:
Data was collected on 197 emergency nurses, from November 8 to December 8, 2022. Data were analyzed based on descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation, hierarchical multiple regression analysis.
Results:
There was significant positive correlation between disaster nursing core competencies, coping flexibility, and quality of work life. The primary factors that significantly affected the quality of work life of emergency nurses were disaster nursing core competencies (β=.66, p<.001) and emergency department experience (β=.19, p=.030). The explanatory power of variable was 60%.
Conclusion
As a result of the study, it was confirmed that disaster nursing core competencies were the factor that had the greatest impact on the quality of work life of emergency nurses. Thus, it is expected that regular simulation training and education to improve the disaster nursing core competencies of emergency nurses.
