A study of the volume and linear measurements of the breast to determine new nipple positions for 142 subjects was undertaken. Volume determination was done by using the Grossman-Roudner device. The size and shape of the female breast may differ significantly, and such size and linear measurements have to be measured accurately prior to breast aesthetic surgery. Statistical analysis of these results are closely related to physical constitution(height, weight, chest circumference). There have been increasing changes in linear measurement and decreasing changes in breast volume during the last 10 years, The results were as follows: 1) the mean distance from the midclavicular point to the nipple was 19.5cm, the distance from the sternal notch to the nipple was 19.4cm, the distance between nipples was 18.6cm, and the areolar diameter was 3.3cm, 2) the regression equation for the midclavicular point to the nipple was 7.236+ 0.00077x height(cm)+ 0.233 x weight(kg), for the sternal notch to the nipple was 8.845-0.0039 x height(cm)+ 0.214x weight(kg), for the distance between nipples was 11.192 - 0.0033xheight(cm)+ 0.151x weight(kg), and for the areolar diameter was 4.031+0.02xheight(cm)-0.048 x weight(kg),3) the mean value of breast volume of the left side was 209.6cc, and that of the right side was 211.8cc, 4) the regression equation for the mean breast volume was -137.673 + 6.668 x weight(kg), which was equal to -528.414 + 9.115x chest circumference under the axilla(cm) and -468.420 + 8.298 x chest circumference across the nipple (cm). In conclusion, these data could be useful for numerous aspects of breast surgery, including augmentation mammoplasty, mastopexy, reduction mammoplasty, and correction of asymmetrical breasts as the standard for Korean females, if we know the body constituents (weight, chest circumference) before surgery.

Forty patients(9 male and 31 female) with tsutsugamushi disease were evaluated clinically. The diagnosis of tsutsugamushi disease was confirmed by indirect immunofluoresent test or isolation of causative agent. More than 77% of patients were over 40 years of age. After the incubation period(5 to 13 days, average 8 days) symptoms developed suddenly. The frequent symtoms were fever(100%), chill(100%), headache(100%), rnalaise(97%), and myalgia(95%). On physical exammination the rash, eschar, and lymphadenopathy were found in 97%, 82%, and 67% respectively. Eschar was observed in the trunk, especially axillary, abdominal and inguinal area. Serum transarninase(SGOT snd SGPT) was elevated(89 and 87%). Urinalysis revealed proteinuria in 35%(12/34) and hematuria in 19%(7/36). Chest roentgram and ECG demonstrated abnormalities in 39%(14/36) and 73%(26/36) respectively, The treatment with doxycycline was very effective in all cases.

Since the treatment of edentulous patients with osseointegrated implant was first introduced more than 30 years ago, implant therapy has become one of the most important dental treatment modalities today. Based on the previous experience and knowledge. Branemark Novum(R) protocol was introduced with the concept of simplifying surgical and prosthetic technique and reducing healing time recently. This protocol recommends the installation of three 5mm wide diameter fixtures in anterior mandible and the prefabricated titanium bars for superstructure fabrication. This study was designed to analyze the stress distribution at fixture and superstructure area according to changes of fixture number, diameter and superstructure materials. Four 3-dimensional finite element models were fabricated. Model 1 - 5 standard fixtures (13mm long and 3.75mm in diameter) & superstructure consisted of type IV gold alloy and resin Model 2 - 3 wide diameter fixtures (13mm long and 5.0mm in diameter) )& superstructure consisted of type IV gold alloy and resin Model 3 - 3 wide diameter fixtures (13mm long and 5.0mm in diameter) )& superstructure consisted of titanium and resin Model 4 - 3 wide diameter fixtures (13mm long and 5.0mm in diameter)& superstructure consisted of titanium and porcelain A 150N occlusal force was applied on the 1st molar of each model in 3 directions-vertical(90degree)horizontal(0degree)and oblique (120degree). After analyzing the stress and displacements, following results were obtained. 1. There were no significant difference in stress distribution among experimental models. 2. Model 2,3,4 showed less amount of compressive stress than that of model 1. However, tensile stress was similar. 3. Veneer material with a high modulus of elasticity demonstrated less stress accumulation in the superstructure. Within the limits of this study.Branemark Novum(R) protocol demonstrated comparable biomechanical properties to conventional protocol.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1996;31(2):181-188
The management of LcP disease is dependent on the prognosis yet. This may be difficult to predict for the individual child, particularly at the onset of the disease when radiological sign may be minimal. But some form of conservative treatment is generally commenced before the prognosis become apparent. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity of Catterall's grouping and value of other radiological and clinical factors in predictiong prognisis and also the correlation between the clinical and radiological results at the conclusion of the pathological precess in LCP disease. Between the clinical and radiological results at the conclusion of the pathological process in LCP disease. Between June 1986 and July 1995, 64 childrens with LCP disease were tearted in Kyungpook University Hospital, 44 hips of 40 childrens who had adequate clinical and radiological data were reviewed. The average follow-up period was 5.4 years. The results obtained were followings: 1.The mean age at first visit or diagnosis was 6.7 years. 2. Of 40 childrens, 4 childrens had bilateral involvement. Boys were more predominat. 3. The degree of uncovering of femoral head and medial joint space at the presentation seemed to be prognostic factor for the end results. 4. Catterall & lateral pillar classification seemed to be difficult at presentation of the disease but also an important guide to determine the prognosis.
