Korean Journal of Dermatology 1981;19(2):175-181
In order to evaluate the effect of zinc sulfate on acne vulgaris, this study was performed during 3 months' period from October, 1979 to December 31, 1979. Total number of acne patients visited at the Department of Dermatology, Han Gang Sung Shim Hospital were 130, but among them 58 patients had completed this atudy. The patients were classified in 3 groups, A, B, C, as follows. Group A (23 patients) who were treated with zinc sulfate (600mg/day) and 2. 5% benzoyl peroxide Group B (20 patients) who were treated with tetracycline (initial: 750mg/day, after 2weeks: 500rng/day) and 2. 5% benzoyl peroxide. Group C (15 patients) who were treated with only 2. 5% benzoyl peroxide. To evaluate the efficacy of treatment in these 3 groups, the number of open comedone, closed comedone, papule and pustule were counted every other week for 8 weeks. (countiuned..)

We examined a male infant with transient increase in alkaline phosphatase(ALP) activity. The 25-month-old infant was admitted to a local hospital because of pneumonia of unknown etiology. Initial laboratory investigation revealed a serum ALP of 11,260U/L, which was comparable to that of bone isoenzyme on the electrophoresis pattern, There was no evidence of hepatitis, skeletal or intestinal diseases. The hyperphosphatasemia disappeared 3 months later. We report a case of transient hyperphosphatasemia diagnosed inci- dentally in the course of management of pneumonia. Total hip replacement arthroplasty is one of the excellent treatment modalities of adult hip joint disease. But those who have severe dysplasia of the hip usually require augmentation of acetabular bone stock in order to carry out the total hip replacement arthroplasty and technical difficulties are often encountered in estabilishing an adequate acetabular bed for the prosthesis. From July 1988 to January 1990, we attempted to treat patients of dysplastic hip by bipolar endoprosthesis with acetabular bone graft using femoral head autograft in 8 patients and then reviewed these cases. The mean follow up period was 3 years ranging from 1 year and 10 months to 3 years and 10 months. The results obtained were as follows : 1. All the bone grafts were united well(average bone union time : 5.3 months). 2. According to Gerber and Harris' classification, there was no evidence of resorption of the graft in 1 case, and there were minor resorption in 5 cases, moderate resorption in 1 case, and major resorption in 1 case. 3. The average preoperative Harris hip score was 47.5 points and the average Harris hip score at last follow up was 79.0 points. 4. Because of the high rate of graft resorption and component migration, bipolar endoprosthesis with acetabular bone graft was not to be recommended as a reconstructive procedure for the dysplastic hip which have segmental bony deficiency in the acetabulum.
