Background and Objectives:
Fire events emit pollutants that affect both air quality and respiratory health. This paper analyzed the interrelationship of satellite-derived fire spot density and annual average particulate matter (PM₂.₅) concentrations with the incidence of respiratory diseases.
Methodology:
Monthly cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) and pertussis for 2017-2018 in all 17 regions of the Philippines were accessed from the Department of Health (DOH) Epidemiology Bureau. Reported cases per 100,000 population in the Philippines were linked with regional fire spot density and annual mean PM₂.₅ estimates from satellite data, Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) active fire data, and Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications, version 2 (MERRA-2), respectively. Linear, logistic, and Poisson models were used to analyze the association between the exposure and outcome variables.
Results and Discussion:
The highest PM₂.₅ concentrations were observed in Regions IV-A and NCR but fire spot density was relatively lower. High PM₂.₅ levels can be due to other sources in these largely urbanized regions, such as vehicular emission, among others. Similarly, results showed inconclusive association between atmospheric parameters and incidence of ILI and pertussis. Among the variables, pertussis and PM₂.₅ may have the strongest association, albeit p>0.05. Other factors contributing to the increase of disease counts may be explored including vaccine rates and case reporting.
Conclusion
There is insufficient evidence to show that fire events and higher PM₂.₅ levels at a regional scale increased the risk for ILI and pertussis in 2017-2018. Further studies may be explored on how satellite-derived atmospheric data can be utilized in respiratory health studies.

2.Production of the specific monovalent pertussis serum fast in the Institute of Vaccine
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):46-48
Species were applied by the Centre for the vaccine quality control including Bordetella pertussis GL 353 type 1; Bordetella pertussis 360 E type1, 2; Bordetella pertussis H36 type 1, 3. The methods: preparation of the medium Bordet- Gengou; production of the serum fast according to the methods of the surface culture in Bordet-Gengo medium in bottle of Roux; immunization and collection of serum fast; absorption of the non- specific antibody. The results have shown that the antibody effect of type 1, type 1, 2 and type 3, 4 in the 14th day after the 6 injection of the outlines immuned higher than this in the seventh day. The combination of pertussis antigen with Aluminum phosphate increases immunoability in all three types with some effects. Therefore, a monovalent pertussis serum fast has made in the allowed standard. The ability of agglutination and specificity of the produced pertussis serum fast were the same as these of the England National Institute of vaccine and biological substances

3.Inactivation and detoxification of pertussis vaccine by 0.1% formalin: Preliminary results
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2003;13(1):31-33
Using 0.1% formalin for inactivation and detoxification in the production of pertussis vaccine gave good results with 3 experimental lots PM10, PM11, and PM12 had high safety: MWG test was 76%-84.2% higher than control lots 62.4%, LPF test was 32,210-41,200 lower than control lot 58,600. The preliminary findings suggest these 3 experimental lots had less toxicity than standard and control lot. This method can be used in routine pertussis vaccine production

4.Combination of diphtheria - tetanus - pertussia, and Hib components
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2003;13(6):5-9
The Institute of Vaccine had elaborated a procedure of preapration and produced successfully a 4 component liquid vaccine of diphteria – tetanos – coqueluche and meningitis (DTP-Hib). The quality have reached the standards issued in European and WHO Pharmacopoeia. The procedure of preparation of DPT-Hib mixt vaccine and the preliminary procedure of its quality control were established

5.Stability of monospecific pertussis antiserum produced at IVAC Dalat
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2003;13(6):58-60
After 3 months storage at 4oC and 4 weeks storage at room temperature, 3 lots of monospecific pertussis antiserum of type 1, type 2, type 3 produced in Da Lat Vaccine Institute were still met the requirement of specificity and sensitivity. But they were degraded after 5 weeks of storage at room temperature (24-26oC)

8.Evaluation of specific toxicity of pertussis component of DPT vaccine by mouse weight gain test, leukocytosis promoting factor test and limulus amebocyte lysate, assay
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2002;12(5):11-16
17 final bulks of pertussis suspension, combined with AlPO4 were evaluated for specific toxicity by MWG test, LPF test and MICRO LAL test. Results showed that: there was relationship between potency and specific toxicity of the vaccine. LPF test was found more reliable than MICRO LAL test when compared to MWG test.

Chinese Journal of Contemporary Pediatrics 2016;18(9):891-896
It has been recognized that pertussis is a disease that affects all age groups. There are obvious limitations in the currently used diagnostic criteria with "one-size-fits-all" definition, which is not advantageous to start individual treatment and perform strategies for preventing the transmission. Therefore, the expert group of Global Pertussis Initiative gives a suggestion for the diagnosis of pertussis. Based on the related published studies, the present article analyzes the limitations of the current criteria, and introduces the GPI's suggestion in detail.
