1.Research status and future development of chromosome automatic analysis system
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2007;0(13):-
The chromosome automatic analysis system may help physicians diagnose cancers and other genetic disorders at an early stage. A computer-assisted system usually includes a series of processing steps, such as image enhancement, chromosome segmentation, feature extraction and chromosome classification. However, developing such an automated system is quite a challenging and difficult task. A number of different algorithms have been applied during the research of these systems, and encouraging results have been achieved. This paper introduced the development of the chromosome automatic analysis systems, and summarized various algorithms used in these systems. Due to limitation of some factors, further research is needed to improve the efficiency and the accuracy of these systems. The limited factors are analyzed in this paper and the development tendency is predicted.

Chinese Journal of Dermatology 2000;0(S1):-
Objective To approach the status of leprosy disabilities in newly detected cases in recent 10 years in China and provide the scientific basis for formulating the preventive strategies. Methods Based upon the individual records from the National Leprosy Recording and Reporting System in National Center for STD and Leprosy Control, 22 437 leprosy cases detected during 1989- 1998 in China were analyzed in terms of leprosy disability. Results The proportion of disabilities in newly detected leprosy cases in 1989 in whole country was 46.49% and decreased to 32.31% in 1998, and the proportions of cases with grade II disabilities were 25.55% (1989) and 20.23% (1998). There were 18 provinces where disability rate was more than 40% . Out of patients with disabilities, those with grades I and II disabilities and with deformities (loss of eyebrow, facial paralysis or saddle nose) accounted for 37.86% , 60.64% and 1.5% , respectively. There were 25 provinces where grade II disabilities accounted for more than 50% of all patients with disabilities. The disability rates in patients aged under 15 years, 15- 65 years and over 65 years were 24% , 39.85% and 53.33% . The patients with a delay in detection of 2 years had a disability rate of 29.85% , and those with a delay of more than 2 years and 5 years had the rates of 48.82% and 61.17% , respectively. The disability rate was 52.9% in patients with leprosy reactions and 46.1% in patients with a damage of more than 3 nerves. The grade II disability rate in paucibacillary patients(28.99% ) was significantly higher than that in multibacillary ones (22.04% ). Conclusion Disability rate of leprosy in newly detected cases is still high although it has decreased in the recent 10 years. The rate is associated with delay in detection, leprosy reaction and leprosy type. It suggests that early detection of leprosy patients, regular treatment with multidrug therapy, and management of leprosy reactions will be the effective measures to prevent disabilities of leprosy.

BACKGROUND: In many parts of the body, muscle diastolic and contractive activities can promote the body's energy metabolism. Furthermore, the muscles also play an irreplaceable role in maintaining body posture and joint stability. OBJECTIVE: To summarize the rules of muscle function and aging changes, to search for research related to the trainability of old muscle function, and to provide references for muscular anti-aging research in field of sports medicine. METHODS: Taking senescence, aging, muscle function, exercise, training in English as the search terms, Pubmed database from January 2000 to May 2009 was retrieved; Taking aging, muscle function, training in Chinese as the search terms, CNKI database from January 2000 to May 2009 was searched. Literatures were limited to English and Chinese languages. Inclusive criteria: research closely related to the trainability of motor function and muscle metabolic function in the elderly; Exclusive criteria: obsolete and lack of credibility of the literature. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Totally 67 literatures were screened out by computer, according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, 31 documents of which were involved in the analysis. Based on the recent research On muscle function, the muscle function can be summarized into three aspects: motor function, metabolic function and maintenance function. The elderly muscle aging is mainly showed in these 3 aspects. How to reconstruct these functions through resistance training? The concerning data were summarized in this paper, to verify the trainability of ageing's muscle motor and metabolism functions, but no study indicates that the maintenance function can be reconstructed, and deserves further studies of sports science.

Objective To study the clinical characteristics, diagnosis, and treatment of paratyphoid fever A (fever A) complicated with severe kidney damage. Methods The data were retrospectively reviewed. Results The symptoms of poisoning and gastrointestinal symptoms as well as the slightly abnormal urinalysis (proteinuria, hematuria) appeared early, which got worse along with the progression of the disease. The symptoms of urinary system and azotemia appeared in the worst period. After treatment with antibiotic, 4 patients recovered early. Conclusion Paratyphoid fever A can cause severe kidney damage, with non-specific symptoms at the early stage. The seriousness of the abnormal of urine test can't be ignored as those provides the basis for the early diagnosis. The early use of antibiotic is the key to avoid and lessen the serverity of kidney damage.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of endoscopic cryotherapy for Barrett's esophagus (BE). Methods A total of 22 consecutive patients, who were diagnosed as BE from January 2008 to May 2009, underwent endoscopic cryotherapy by using pressurized gas of C02. The data including effective rate, therapy courses and procedure related complications were retrospectively analyzed. Results Except for 2 cases of withdrawal, the other 20 patients completed the treatment with a total therapy number of 42 times (mean 2. 1 times/patient) and were followed up for 6 months. Complete histologic reversal of BE mucus was achieved in all 20 patients after 1-3 times of cryotherapy, among whom complete endoscopic reversal was obtained in 9 and effective endoscopic reversal in 11. Histologic recurrence was observed in 3 cases during the follow-up, including 2 of occult intestinal metaplasia and 1 of mild intestinal metaplasia, which achieved a BE mucosal reversal rate of 85% (17/20). Procedure related complications included 1 case of esophageal ulcer and 3 cases of mild or severe esophagitis, which were all cured after acid suppression treatment. Conclusion Endoscopic cryotherapy in BE is effective and safe, with the advantages of easy manipulation, less complications and good compliances.
