Objective To observe the efficacy of Er ∶ YAG laser and pulsed dye laser (PDL) in treating facial acne scars. Methods A total of 78 cases with facial acne scars were divided into two groups. The test group included 40 patients that were treated by Er ∶ YAG laser (total three treatments, once three months)and irradiated by PDL (total four times, once per month),while the control group included 38 patients treated by Er ∶ YAG laser only. After three months of the last treatment, the effective rate and side effects were recorded and compared. Results The efficacy of the test group reached 92.5% (37/40) and 77.5% (31/40) for acne scars and post-acne erythema, respectively. However, the effective rate of the control group was 73.7% (28/38) and 47.4% (18/38).There were statistically significant differences between two groups (P<0.05).Regarding reported adverse effects, there were four cases in the test group and two cases in the control group that appeared mild pigmentation. After symptomatic treatment, the skin color recovered. There was no other side effect in both two groups. Conclusions The effectiveness of Er ∶ YAG laser and PDL is better than Er ∶ YAG laser only in treating facial acne scars, and thus it is worthwhile for popularization and application in acne scars.

Objective To assess the association between HLA-DQA 1 alleles and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in populations of Uygur nationality in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Methods Polvmerase chain reactionsequence-specific primers (PCR-SSP) were used to analyze the HLA-DQA1 gene in 56 patients with SLE and 54 unrelated healthy controls of Uygur nationalitv in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Results Compared with the heahhv controls, the SLE patients showed signifieantly increased frequency of HLA-DQA1*0302 (x2 =10.032, P =0.004), but decreased frequency ofHLA-DQA1*0101 (x2 =5.676, P=0.017).Conclusion HLA-DQA1*0302 may be a susceptibility gene, while HLA-DQA1*0101 may be a protective factor for SLE in populations of Uygur nationality in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Objective To compare the safety and efficacy of direct and remedial rotational atherectomy in the treatment of heavily calcified coronary artery lesions. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 58 patients admitted in the Shanghai Chest Hospital and Liaocheng People Hospital from May 2012 to July 2015 who had received stent implantation and rotational atherectomy. The 58 patients were divided into two groups which were the direct atherectomy group (n =27) and the remedial atherectomy group (n =31).General clinical date, lesion and procedural characteristics, intraoperative complications,in-hospital and follow-up MACCE were compared between the two groups. Results There were no differences between the two groups in general clinical date intraoperative complications, amount of contrast agent used, proceduraltime, rates of in-hospital and follow-up MACCE.Nevertheless, compared with the direct artherectomy group, the remedial group had more number of balloon dilations during procedure [3 (1,5) vs.2 (1,2),P < 0.001] and higher peak cardiac troponin levels [1.1 (0.3,3.0) μg/L vs.0.5 (0.1,2.3) μg/L,P =0.032].Conclusions Remedial rotational atherectomy with drug-eluting stent had the same safety and efficacy as direct atheretomy with drug-eluting stent in treating patients with heavily calcified coronary lesions. It is reasonable and safe to transform routine PCI to remedial rotational atherectomy when the 2.0 mm semi compliant balloon or/and 2.5 mm non-compliant balloon cannot pass through or dilate the lesions.

In neuronal system, epigenetic modifications are essential for neuronal development, the fate determination of neural stem cells and neuronal function. The dysfunction of epigenetic regulation is closely related to occurrence and development of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease. Abnormally elevated DNA methylation inhibits the expression of some DNA repair-related genes and affects the progression of Huntington's disease. In the brain of Alzheimer's disease patients, the levels of H3K27ac and H3K9ac histone modifications increased. In addition, the alteration of RNA methylation in animal models of Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease showed discrepancy trends. Therefore, epigenetic modifications may serve as potential therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative diseases. Here, we summarize the recent progress of the roles of epigenetic modifications in neurodegenerative diseases.
