Objective To study the antidepression action of curcumin and to explore its mechanism. Methods Mouse reserpine-induced depression model and mouse tetrabenazine-induced acquired despair model were used to observe the effect of curcumin on relieving depression. According to the hypothesis of monoamine, the effect of curcumin on activating monoamine, and inhibiting reuptake of monoamine neurotransmitters and monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) were observed. Results Curcumin in the dose of 50 mg/kg and more can relieve melancholic symptoms in mice induced by reserpine and tetrabenazine. Curcumin had no direct activation on monoamine either had no obvious inhibition on reuptake of monoamine neurotransmitters of noradrenalin, 5-hydroxytriptamine and dopamine . However, Curcumin had an obvious effect on improving rat forelimb spasm induced by tryptamine hydrochloride. Conclusion Curcumin acts like a kind of monoamine oxidase inhibitor, which exerts antidepression action by inhibiting monoamine oxidase activity and increasing the concentration of monoamine neurotransmitter in brain.

Objective To study the effect of rhein on the process of tubular epithelial-mesenchymat transformation in kidney of diabetic rats. Methods Wistar male rats were randomly assigned to 3 groups: Control group (N group, n=12),diabetic group(D group, n=12), rhein treatment group(R group, n=12).The rats of rhein treatment group were treated with daily intragastric administration of periment. The excretion of urinary protein and serum creatine were measured. Histological changes of renal tissue were observed by HE and MASSON stain. Immunohistochemistry was performed to investigate the expression of E-cadherin, α-SMA,FN and TGF-β1 in kidney. Results Compared with the control group, the tubulointerstitial injury and the accumulation of extraeellular matrix protein in diabetic models were obvious(P<0.01).Compared with the control group, the expression of E-cadherin was decreased significantly and the expression of α-SMA,FN and TGF-β1 was increased significantly in diabetic group. E-cadherin was negatively correlated with TGF-β1(rs=-0.60,P<0.05),α-SMA and FN was positively correlated with TGF-β1(rs=0.88,P<0.05;rs:0.91,P<0.01).In comparison with diabetic group, rhein could up-regulate the expression of E-cad and down-regulate the expression of α-SMA and FN in renal tubular epithelial cells(P<0.01).Conclusion Rhein could protect kidney by ameliorating interstitial fibrosis in diabetic rats. The mechanism may be depend on down-regulating the expression of TGF-β1 and suppressing tubular epithelial-mesenchymal transformation.

Objective:To describe the epidemiological characteristics of mental disorders in Ximeng Wa Au-tonomous County and explore psychosocial risk factors of mental disorders. Methods:Two thousand three hundred and eighty one residents aged 1 8 years and over were sampled using multistage sampling in Ximeng Wa Autono-mous County in 2013. All respondents were investigated by face-to-face interview. Mental disorders were screened out by using the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ)and diagnosed according to the International Classification of Diseases Checklist (ICD-10-Checklist)criteria. Results:Life time prevalence of any mental disorder was 19. 86%(419/2110). The lifetime prevalence rates of substance use disorder, anxiety disorder, insomnia, mood disorder, schizophrenia were 12. 99%(274/2110),6. 30%(133/2110),2. 94%(62/2110),2. 32%(49/2110)and 1. 00%(21/2110)respectively. Male (OR=0. 43),older age (35 -49 years,OR=1. 78;50 -64 years,OR=2. 59;≥65 years,OR=3. 5 1 ),unmarried and other marital status (OR=0. 3 1 ),non-Wa and non-Lahu ethnic groups (OR=0. 29)were associated with neurotic,stress-related and somatoform disorders. Male (OR=2. 41),older age (35 -49 years,OR=2. 29;50-64 years,OR=3. 20;≥65 years,OR=4. 58),non-farmer and non-self-employed occupation (OR=0. 41),and non-Wa and non-Lahu ethnic groups (OR=0. 32)were associated with psychoactive substance use disorder. Male (OR =0. 35 ) and order age (≥65 years,OR =3. 05 ) were associated with mood disorders. Conclusion:Lifetime prevalence of any mental disorder, substance use disorders and anxiety disorders are high in Ximeng Wa Autonomous County. Measures should be strengthened against prevalence of mental disorders in ethnic minority areas.

Objective:To study the pupillary centroid shift of myopia and characteristics of pupil diameter change from scotopic to photopic condition. Methods:A case series study was carried out, 140 eyes of 70 myopia patients from September to November 2016 in Tianjin Eye Hospital were enrolled. The pupillary centroid shift and pupil diameter parameters were measured by visual quality analyzer from scotopic (0.017 lx) to photopic (10.400 lx) condition. This study followed the Declaration of Helsinki. Results:Under the scotopic and photopic conditions, the pupil diameter was positively correlated between the bilateral eyes (scotopic: rs=0.85, P<0.001; photopic: r=0.85, P<0.001), and the pupil diameter variation from scotopic to photopic condition was positively correlated between the bilateral eyes ( r=0.75, P<0.001). The pupil diameter in scotopic and photopic conditions, and the change of pupil diameter in the right eyes were significantly higher than those in the left eyes (all at P<0.05). The pupillary centroid shift was within 0.2 mm in the left eyes of 94.2% (66/70) subjects and in the right eyes of 97.1%(68/70) subjects. The pupillary centroid shift of all subjects was within 0.3 mm.From scotopic to photopic condition, the pupil centroid was mainly shift to the nasal superior direction. There was no significant correlation between pupil diameter and age or gender. There was no significant correlation between pupillary centroid shift and age, diopter or pupil diameter. Conclusions:The binocular pupillary centroid shift are symmetrical from scotopic to photopic condition in myopic eyes, and the pupil centroid mainly shift to nasal superior direction.
