Tanshinones are a large class of hydrophobic natural products isolated from traditional Chinese herb Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge and related plants. Tanshinones include tanshinone ⅡA, cryptotanshinone, tanshinone I, dihydrotanshinone, and so on. Both the tanshinones and the salvianolic acids have been identi-fied as the characteristic and main active ingredients of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge with cardiovascular protective activities. Ac-cumulated data in recent years have revealed that tanshinones possess remarkable anti-cancer activities both in vivo and in vitro. In this review, we summarize the latest progress of the an-ti-cancer effect and the underlying mechanisms of tanshinones, particularly with emphasis on tanshinone ⅡA, which might pro-vide reference for the further research and development of these compounds.

Objective To investigate the diagnostic accuracy and the clinical usefulness of the combination of troponin I (cTnI) and copeptin detected in patients with suspected non-ST elevation myocardial infarction. Methods 176 patients presenting to the emergency departments with chest chocking or chest pain within 6 hours and without ST elevation on a 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) were enrolled in this study. The level of copeptin and cTnI was measured. The diagnosis was adjudicated by 2 independent experts. The diagnostic performance of them was assessed using ROC analysis , and the sensitivity and specificity of them were inferred based on the positive rate of two cardiac markers. Results (1)The levels of copeptin and cTnI in NSTEMI patients were markedly higher than other groups (P<0.05).(2)The AUCs of copeptin and cTnI were 0.846 and 0.683, and the 95%CI of two markers were 0.786 ~ 0.906 and 0.577 ~ 0.789, respectively. (3)Using 10.85 pmol/L as cut off value, the sensitivity and specificity of copeptin were 90% and 64%,and the positive predictive value and the negative predictive valueof NSTEMI diagnose were 42.4% and 95.6%,respectively.Using 0.05 ng/mL as cut off value, the sensitivity and specificity of cTnI were 42.5% and 94.1%,the positive predictive value and the negative predictive value were 68%and 84.8% for diagnosis of NSTEMI. (4)The copeptin level over 10.85 pmol/L in combination with cTnI could be used to detect NSTEMI with higher sensitivity than that of copeptin or cTnI alone (95% vs 90% vs 42.5%). The negative predictive value of the combination of copeptin and cTnI was increased , compared to that of copeptin or cTnI alone (97.7% vs 95.6% vs 85.7%). Conclusions Determination of copeptin in addition to cTnI can improves diagnostic performance , especially early after chest pain onset. It seems to allow a rapid and reliable rule out of NSTEMI.

Objective To evaluate the clinical application of Hawkeye VG SPECT/CT imaging on diagnosing and locating lower gastrointestinal bleeding using in vivo labeling 99Tcm-RBC.Methods Fiftysix patients (42 males,14 females, age ranging from 10 to 76 years) who had definite lower gastrointestinal bleeding were studied retrospectively. All patients had intravenous injection with 370 MBq 99Tcm-RBC and then underwent planar,SPECT,and CT imaging respectively in the abdomen before exploratory laparotomy.Images from SPECT and CT were fused thereafter to locate the active bleeder,if any.x2 test was performed to show the differences of diagnostic sensitivity and accuracy between planar and SPECT/CT imaging. Results In 56 patients with lower gastrointestinal bleeding,50 patients showed abnormally concentrated radionuclide activity with planar images and 52 patients showed the similar imaging pattern with SPECT/CT.Among these patients, concordant bleeding with operation findings was found in 31 patients with planar images and 48 patients with SPECT/CT images. The sensitivity and accuracy were 89.3% (50/56) and 73.8% (31/42) in planar images, and 92.9% (52/56) and 92.3% (48/52) in SPECT/CT images (x2 =0.11,P>0.05 ;x2 =4.63,P<0.05).Conclusion Hawkeye VG SPECT/CT imaging shows an effective, simple and accurate method and could be used for diagnosing and locating lower gastrointestinal bleeding.

Objective To assess the diagnostic value of 18 F?FDG PET/CT imaging for primary pul?monary lymphoepithelioma?like carcinoma (LELC). Methods A total of 19 patients (10 males, 9 fe?males;average age 56.4 years) with suspected primary pulmonary LELC undergone whole?body 18F?FDG PET/CT and chest contrast CT scan were enrolled in this retrospective study. The SUVmax and uptake pat?terns of FDG, the histological types and the clinical stages were recorded. Image characteristics of contrast CT and FDG PET/CT were observed, and the diagnostic efficiency was calculated. Two?sample t test and one?way analysis of variance were used to analyze the results. Results The diagnostic sensitivity and spe?cificity of LELC were 12/13 and 4/6 for FDG PET/CT. The SUVmax of LELC lesions was significantly differ?ent from that of other lung malignant tumors or lung benign lesions (F=3.67, P<0?05). The lesion had longer diameter, lower CT density, higher SUVmax in stage Ⅳ patients, compared with that in stageⅠ-Ⅲpatients ( F=7.01, P<0.05) . The significant difference of SUVmax was found between lesions with ring up?take and lesions with other uptake types (3.94±0.67 vs 2.86±0.35; t=4.07, P<0?05). The SUVmax was higher in Schmincke tumors when compared with that in tumors of Regaud subtype ( 3. 61 ± 0. 71 vs 2. 76 ± 0?29; t=2.99, P<0.05) . Conclusion 18 F?FDG PET/CT could be an accurate method in differential diag?noses of primary pulmonary LELC.

Objective To characterize the whole-sequence of plasmid pB557-NDM isolate from Enterbacter cloacae and elaborate its antibiotic-resistant mechanisms .Methods Antibiotic resistance genes were determined by PCR , followed by amplicon sequencing .The activity of class A/B/D carbapenemases was determined by modified Carba NP test .Conjugation experiments were performed to verify the transferability of plasmid pB 557-NDM.The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of bacterial strains were tested using VITEK 2.The genetic structure, mobile elements and antibiotic-resistant mechanisms of transferable plasmid pB 557-NDM were determined by a whole genome sequencing method .Results The modified CarbaNP test showed that B557 and B557-EC600 had class B carbapenemase activity , and that the blaNDM was carried by plasmid pB557-NDM.This plasmid could be transferred into E.coli through conjugation experiments and therefore could confer corresponding antibiotic resistances to the transconjugant B 557-EC600.Plasmid pB557-NDM was an IncA/C2 plasmid, whose total length was 141.65 kb, and the GenBank accession number was KX786648.It had two inserted regions. One was the blaCMY-6 region where the blaCMY gene was carried by a transposition unit IS Ecp1-blaCMY , the other was the blaNDM-1 region which consisted of a ΔTn1696-In46-rmtC-ISKpn14-ΔTn125 complex structure. Conclusion The production of plasmid pB557-NDM in strain B557 contributes most to its high resistance to many antibiotics .The blaNDM-1 gene is carried in a trancated transposition ΔTn125.
