Objective To study the growth rhythm of height, diameter at ground and the distribution of biomass of annual seedlings of Glycyrrhiza uralensis. Methods Dynamic measurings were carried out after sowing to determine the indexes including the growth quantity and biomass of overground and underground part of annual seedlings of G. uralensis. Results The growing period can be divided into four stages: the emergence phase, initiation phase, prosperous phase, and late phase. The growth quantity during the prosperity period accounted to 63.3% and 50.2% of biomass of the whole year. The growth rate of root was much higher than that of the stem and leaf. The accumulating rate of biomass is the highest during the period of the July 20th to September 20th. The biomass distribution ratio of root, stem, and leaf was 49.02∶17.75∶33.23, and the biomass ratio of underground part to overground part was 0.96. According to regression analysis, the height and diameter at ground were liner correlation with underground biomass and total biomass was individually larger than that of two biomasses of diameter at ground. Conclusion The growth pattern of the height and diameter at ground is accordance with S curve and can be simulated with Logistic equation. The height and diameter at ground is linearly correlation with the underground biomass and total biomass.

Objective: To explore the clinical value of plasma copeptin level on major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE) occurrence in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) during hospitalization.
Methods: Our research included 2 groups:STEMI group, n=80 and Control group, n=80 patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD). All patients were treated in our hospital from 2012-06 to 2014-06. Plasma level of copeptin was detected by ELISA, other relevant examinations were conducted to study the MACE occurrence in STEMI patients.
Results: Plasma copeptin level in STEMI group (523.26 ± 142.69) pg/ml was higher than that in Control group (345.25 ± 89.36) pg/ml, P<0.05. In STEMI group, there were 28/80 (35%) patients suffered from MACE, compared with non-MACE patients, they had increased plasma copeptin, cardiac muscle protein I (cTnI), kinase isoenzyme (CK-MB) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), P<0.05. Multivariate regression analysis indicated that plasma copeptin, cTnI and LVEF were the independent risk factors for MACE occurrence. According to occurred area under the curve, compared with cTnI and CK-MB, plasma copeptin level had the higher predictive value to judge the ROC, positive/negative possibility, sensitivity and speciifcity for MACE occurrence in STEAMI patients, P<0.05.
Conclusion: Plasma copeptin level could effectively predict MACE occurrence in patients with acute STEMI during
hospitalization, it may predict their prognosis at certain point.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2008;25(4):811-813
The sterilization effects of constant electromagnetic wave and instant pulse on foods and traditional Chinese medical pills are introduced in this paper. From the velum's voltage variation caused by the outward electric filed, the dielectric properties of membranaceous ion and the pass rate of the membranaceous ion, we could analyze the biological heating effect and the biological non-heating effect. The sterilization effect of constant electromagnetic wave is based on the biological heating effect, while the instant electromagnetic pulse is based on the biological non-heating effect. With the applied electronic field, the voltage of membrane could increase, which results in the gates of K+ open, and the flowing out of K+. And the variation of the membranaceous voltage makes the gates of Ca2+ open. The Ca2+ of large consistency could come into the cell by the gradient of voltage. It could induce the death of the cells. The greater the variation of membranaceous voltage becomes, the higher will be the death rate of the cells.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2011;36(4):474-477
OBJECTIVETo establish an HPLC-ELSD method for determination of Anemarsaponin C and Anemarsaponin A III in Anemarrhenae Rhizoma.
METHODKromasil C18 column(4.6 mm x 250 mm, 5 microm) was used as stationary phase. Mobile phase was methanol-water gradient with the flow rate of 1 mL x min(-1); the temperature of the drift tube and evaporation was 50 degrees C and 70 degrees C respectively. The gas pressure was 1.03 x 10(5) Pa.
RESULTThere are good linearity in the range 0.310-3.10 microg of anemarsaponin C (lgA = 1.254 2lgM + 5.734 7, r = 0.999 5) and in the range 0.323-3.23 microg (lgA = 1.328 41gM + 5. 937, r = 0.999 6) of anemarsaponin A III. The average recovery of anemarsaponin C and anemarsaponin A III was 98.1% with RSD 2.1% and 97.3% with RSD 1.5% (n = 6) respectively.
CONCLUSIONThe method is rapid and accurate. It is suitable for quality control of Anemarrhenae Rhizoma. The result of determination reveals that the quality of Anemarrhenae Rhizoma from different places of north China are of notable difference.

OBJECTIVETo estimate the broad-sense heritability of the production of Glycyrrhiza uralensis and the content of glycyrrhizin as well as the genetic relationship of various growth indexes and biomass indexes, and provide the scientific basis for establishment of high quality licorice cultivate technology system.
METHODThe randomized method was used to assign the provenance trial, the content of glycyrrhizin was determined by HPLC, and the method of classic genetics was applied to estimate the broad-sense heritability and genetic correlation coefficient.
RESULT AND CONCLUSIONThe content of glycyrrhizin is influenced by the growth environment and gene, but the growth environment is the dominant factor. The estimated result of single sites about broad-sense heritability (h2) showed that the production of G. uralensis (W(u)) and the content of glycyrrhizin was controlled by gene which the broad-sense heritability was 0.663 2, 0.751 1 respectively, they had some potential on genetic modification. The results of genetic analysis correlation showed that the plant height and the stem diameter was positive (P < 0.01) correlated significantly with the production (W(u)) either on phenotype or on genetic, it suggests that the plant height and the stem diameter could be the index above ground to assessment the production of the G. uralensis. The content of glycyrrhizin had a positive correlation with the number of lateral root (P < 0.05), but it had a negative correlation with the plant height, stem diameter, diameter of root top (D(r)), the total biomass (W(t)) and the biomass underground (W(u)) on inheritance. It is suggested that it was difficult to achieve both high content and high yield simultaneously in the genetic improvement, so we should have a deeply thought about the specific improvement target when making the reformed scheme.

Chinese Medical Journal 2002;115(11):1679-1682
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the value of angiography and cholangiography on the diagnosis and interventional treatment of vascular and biliary complications after liver transplantation.
METHODSSixteen of 46 patients (15 men and 1 woman, 17 - 60 years old) after orthotopic liver transplantation received angiography due to abnormal ultrasonography or edema of lower limbs, or cholangiography due to progressing jaundice. Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty or drainage was performed in some patients.
RESULTSFifteen patients experienced vascular complications and 4 patients had biliary complications. Three of them appeared to have both vascular and biliary complications. Hepatic artery complications were the most common complications (9/16), including hepatic artery thrombosis or stenosis (6/9), bleeding (2/9) and hepatic artery-dissecting aneurysm (1/9). One patient with hepatic artery thrombosis received transcatheter thrombolysis and two patients with bleeding received coil embolization. Inferior vena cava and portal vein stenosis were observed in 6 and 2 patients, respectively. After balloon angioplasty or stent placement, clinical symptoms were alleviated. Biliary complications, including biliary stricture and anastomotic bile leak, occurred in 4 patients. Jaundice decreased after percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography and drainage.
CONCLUSIONSBesides diagnosis, interventional methods include mini-invasive treatment for patients with vascular and biliary complications after liver transplantation. Balloon angiography and stent placement for venous stenosis are useful procedure for the treatment of these problems.
