Objective To compare the accuracy of intraocular lens(IOL)power calculations by using 6 formulas(SRK-T,Haigis,Binkhorst-Ⅱ,Hoffer Q,Holladay-1,SRK-Ⅱ)in different axial lengths of the eye,in order to improve the accuracy of predicating IOL powers for patients after cataract surgery.Design Retrospective comparative clinical analysis.Participants 169 patients(169 eyes)with age-related cataract underwent regular phacoemulsification and posterior chamber IOL implantation. Methods 169 eyes with cataract were divided into five groups according to the axial lengths:AXL≤22mm,22mm28.4mm.The axial lengths and keratometry of the 169 eyes were measured with A-mode ultrasound before operation, and the actual postoperative refraction was measured with the methods of computer and retinoscopy optometry when patients could gain best corrected visual acuity one month after surgery or later.Inputting the axial lengths, keratometry and IOL powers into A-mode ultrasound, the predicted postoperative refraction was calculated with SRK-T,Haigis,Binkhorst-Ⅱ,Hoffer Q,Holladay-1,SRK-Ⅱ formulas, and the differences of predicted and actual postoperative refractions in different axial lengths were compared.Main Outcome Measures The absolute value with the differences of the predicted and actual postoperative refractions,i.e.absolute predicted errors.Results(1)Comparing the difference of predicted and actual postoperative refraction, there was no statistical significance between the five formulas in the groups of axial length(AXL)≤22mm,22mm28.4mm,but the average absolute predicted error of Haigis and SRK-T formulas is significantly smaller than SRK-Ⅱand Binkhorst-Ⅱ formulas. Conclusions In existing sample size, there was no obvious influence on postoperative refraction when using other five formulas except Binkhorst-Ⅱ.But in the extremely long AXL group,Haigis and SRK-T formulas have some ascendancy over the other formulas.

Objective To explore the effect of the mutant and expression level of N-ras on chronic myelogenous leukemia. Method We investigated the mutant by direct sequencing in a K562 human chronic myelogenous leukemia cell line, with determination of the expression level of N-ras mRNA in K562 by RT-PCR. Result No single point mutation was detected in K562 cell line, furthermore, the expression level of N-ras gene is abnormaly high in contrast to normal human. Conclusion Our results indicated that the expression level of N-ras gene was obviously high in K562 cell line, and the underlying mechanism was not only mutation, so that further investigation is called for.

ABSTRACT:Objective To analyze the effects of antisurvivin oligonucleotide (Survivin ASODN)on IL-6/STAT3 signaling pathway and down-stream cancer genes of ovarian cancer SKOV3 cell line and to detect the changes of invasive ability of cell line in order to explore the role of Survivin ASODN in reducing metastasis and recurrence of ovarian cancer and its potential clinical value. Methods ASODN was transfected into SKOV3 cells by lipofectamineTM2000 in ASODN group, and lipofectamineTM 2000 was introduced in control group. The invasive ability in ASODN and control groups was detected by Transwell chamber. The expressions of interieukin-6 (IL-6 ), signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3 ), Survivin, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)in ovarian cancer cell line at mRNA level were detected by Real-time PCR.The expressions of IL-6 , STAT3 ,signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 phosphorylation (p-STAT3 ),Survivin, and VEGF-A in ovarian cancer cell line at protein level were detected by Western blot. Results The expressions of IL-6,STAT3, Survivin, and VEGF in ovarian cancer cell line at mRNA level were significantly down-regulated in ASODN group (P<0 .0 5 ).IL-6 ,STAT 3 ,p-STAT 3 ,Survivin and VEGF-A protein levels in ovarian cancer cell line were significantly down-regulated in ASODN group (P<0.05).The invasive ability was significantly reduced by ASODN (P<0.01).Conclusion ASODN targeting Survivin could reduce the invasive ability of ovarian cancer cell line. The mechanism may be blocking IL-6/STAT3 signaling pathway and its down-stream cancer genes of ovarian cancer cell line.ASODN targeting Survivin may have clinical value in preventing and treating the metastasis and recurrence of ovarian cancer.

Objective To quantitatively analyze the fetal lung echo and right lung volume in the third trimester by real-time three-dimensional ultrasound (3-D US) and evaluate the feasibility of fetal lung maturity. Methods A total of 732 women with normal singleton pregnancies between 28 and 42 weeks of gestation underwent ultrasound examination. The 3-D US equipment with a 3.5-5MHz transabdominal transducer was used for the fetal biometric measurement. The echogenicity ratio between fetal lung and liver was compared. The fetal lung volume was calculated by the rotational multiplanar technique for volume measurement (VOCAL). Results The right fetal lung volume increased with the increase of gestational age with a linear positive correlation (r=0.884, P<0.01). After 34 weeks, the echogenicity ratio of fetal lung to liver was more than 1.1. Conclusion The echogenicity of lung/liver and fetal lung volume could be used as normal fetal predictable indicators for fetal lung maturity.

Objective To observe the changes of intedeukin (IL)-17 in patients with maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) and its relationship with anemia. Methods Twenty sera from normal people(normal group) and sixty-eight sera from patients with MHD were sampled. Patients with MHD were divided into 4 groups by haemoglobin (Hb) levels: severity anemia group (12 cases), midrange anemia group(18 cases),light anemia group(18 cases) and non-anemia group(20 cases). IL-6 and IL-17 levels were measured in all the sera with ELISA. Meantime, C-reactive protein (CRP),Hb, ferritin and iron saturation ratio was observed. Results CRP,IL-17 and IL-6 levels in MHD patients were much higher than those in normal group. IL-17 levels in severity and midrange anemia group were higher than those in light anemia group, and IL-17 was positively correlated to Hb. Conclusions IL-17,IL-6 and CRP in patients is higher than that in normal people, and the microinflammation status exists in MHD. IL-17 may play a role in pathogenesis of microinflammation in MHD patients with anemia.
