AIM To study the protective effects of vesnarinone on myocardial ischemia. METHODS Rat myocardial oxide nitric (NO) content, protein kinase C (PKC) activities in different groups were determined by kits. RESULTS Vesnarinone 1 mg?kg -1 or 2 mg?kg -1 iv markedly improved the NO content and PKC activity before ischemia for 30 min and reperfusion for 2 h in rats. CONCLUSION Vesnarinone possesses a protective effect against myocardial ischemia via NO induce PKC.

Total 215 patients with simple varicosis of great saphenous vein underweni surgical treatment in our hospital from February 2007 to January 2012,including 75 cases receiving traditional high ligation segmentation stripping operation (group A),69 cases receiving endovenous laser light therapy (group B),and 71 receiving minimally invasive translucent atherectomy (group C).The efficacy and postoperative complications were compared among 3 groups. The operation time, intraoperational bleeding and length of hospitalization in groups B and C were significantly less than those in group A (P < 0.05).The hospitalization cost of groups A and B was significantly lower than that of group C (P < 0.05).The incidence of subcutaneous induration in groups A and B was significantly higher than that of group C (P < 0.05).The incidence of subcutaneous congestion in group A was significantly higher than that in groups B and C (P <0.05).The recurrence rate during 2-years of follow-up in groups A and B was higher than that in group C (x2 =8.592,5.672,P =0.003,0.016).Three surgical modalities in treatment of great saphenons varicose veins have advantage and disadvantages, the appropriate methods should be chosen based on the characteristics of procedures and the condition and intention of patients.

Aim To investigate the protective effects and mechanism of astragaloside Ⅳ on hypertrophy induced by angiotensinⅡ(AngⅡ)in primary cultured cardiomyocytes of neonatal rats. Methods Cardiomyo-cytes were incubated with AngⅡ to establish the hypertrophy model of primary cultured cardiomyocytes in neonatal rats.AST 10 mg?L-1 or 20 mg?L-1 were added with AngⅡ simultaneously to observe its protective effects on cardiomyocytes. The diameter and the total protein content of cardiomyocyte were measured. The intracellular free calcium concentration([Ca2+]i),activity of sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPases(SERCA)and activity of calcineurin(CaN)were determined. Results Compared with control group, diameter and total protein content of cardiomyocyte induced by AngⅡ were increased significantly, which were inhibited by AST 10 mg?L-1 and 20 mg?L-1,respectively(P

OBJECTIVE:To optimize spray drying process for the raw fruits extract of Psidium guajava. METHODS:Based on single factor, the response surface method was designed to optimize spray drying process condition, using extract rate as index and mass concentration, sampling temperature and sampling speed as factors. The contents and transport rate of total flavones and total polyphenol were determined in each step. RESULTS:The optimal process was as follows as mass concentration of 100 g/L, sampling temperature of 170 ℃,sampling speed of 180 ml/h. Under this condition, the yield of 3 batches of product was(56.08± 0.58)%(RSD=1.04%,n=3). The difference value between test value and predict value was 0.25,without significant difference (P>0.05). The powder of the raw fruits of P. guajava had high contents of total flavones [(17.80 ± 0.09)%] and total polyphenol [(1.23 ± 0.06)%]. The transport rates of them were 87.7% and 25.7%. CONCLUSIONS:Optimized process is feasible to obtain qualified product, and can be used to make medicinal solid preparation.

AIM To study the effect of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis on serum IL-1? and TNF-? level of rheumatoid arthritis rats, as well as its mechanism. METHODS An experimental type Ⅱ collagen-induced arthritic rats was established. The inhibitory effects on paw edema were observed, and serum IL-1? and TNF-? levels were determined in experimental rats. RESULTS Compared with models, Gardenia jasminoides Ellis inhibited paw edema on rats significantly, and the levels of serum IL-1? and TNF-? showed markedly decrease by Gardenia jasminoides Ellis at high dose to medium dose( P

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of immediate-effect moxibustion combined with massage for the treatment of knee stiffness after knee ligament reconstruction surgery. Methods A total of 138 patients after knee ligament reconstruction surgery were randomly divided into control group and observation group,69 cases in each group. The control group received joint rehabilitation therapy, which included TDP light radiation, joint exercise by continuous passive motion apparatus, contraction and relaxation of quadriceps femoris muscle and ankle pump. The treatment group was given immediate-effect moxibustion combined with massage based on the treatment for the control group. The treatment lasted from postoperative day 3 to 14.Before and after treatment,Lysholm knee joint scores, joint activity scores and activities of daily living(ADL) scores of the two groups were observed. Results After treatment, the Lysholm knee joint scores, joint activity scores and ADL scores of the two group were obviously increased (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01 compared with those before treatment),and the increase in the observation groups was superior to that in the control group, the differences of the alove indexes except for joint activity scores being statistically significant between the two groups (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).Conclusion Immediate-effect moxibustion combined with massage is effective on preventing knee from postoperative ankylosis after knee ligament reconstruction surgery.

Objective To evaluate the 64-slice CT angiography in characterizing the coronary venous anatomy and the arterio-venous relationship. Methods Sixty-four slice CT coronary veins angiography images of 300 patients(187 men and 113 women,)were analyzed. The visibility of the coronary veins and arterio-venous spatial relationship were assessed qualitatively on two-and three-dimensional displays. The diameter of the coronary sinus ostium(CSO),middle cardiac vein ostium(MCVO)and posterior vein of left ventricle ostium(PVLVO)were measured. All data was statistically processed with SPSS for Windows. Results The CS,great cardiac vein(GCV)and MCV could be clearly visualized in all of the images.1-3 branches of PVLV could be observed in 273 patients(91.0%).Small cardiac vein(SCV)and Marshall vein were found in 56(18.7%)and 24(8.0%)cases respectively.Three patients had permanent vena cava superior on the left and one patient had a CS diverticulum.Posterior descending artery(PDA)was concomitant with MCV in 189 cases(63.0%)and intersected with MCV in 96 cases(32.0%).Left circumflex artery(LCX)was concomitant with CS in 122 cases(40.7%),intersected with MCV in 15 cases(5.0%),and intersected with PVLV in 104 cases(34.7%).There were no significant differences in age,sex and CHD groups among CSO,MCV,PVLV value. The supero-inferior diameter of CSO had a significant difference between male and female(F=6.67,P<0.05).Conclusion Sixty-four slice CT venous angiography is able to be used for guiding electrophysiological procedures, which is especially useful due to the considerable variations in venous anatomy.
