1.Biological effects of hypoxia on mesenchymal stem cell
International Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2013;36(3):184-188
Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) resides in a relatively hypoxia niche (volume fraction 1%~7%)compared to normoxia (20%).MSC cultured in hypoxia condition shows different biological features from those in normoxia condition.Hypoxia inducible factor-1 α (HIF-1 α),as one of main transcription factors in hypoxia, participates in the regulation of cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, glycolysis and angiogenesis.Recent researches show that HIF-lα also plays an important role in regulating the survival, differentiation and migration of MSC.It turns out that hypoxia can improve survival and migration of MSC,enhance chondrogenesis but inhibit adipogenesis through HIF-lα and its downstream genes. However, whether hypoxia promotes or impedes osteogenesis remains controversial.Such differences can be caused by variances of tissue origination, oxygen concentration and culture condition. The comparison of different researches should be based on the same experiment condition. This review focuses on the influence of hypoxia on proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation and migration of MSC.

Echinococcosis is a severe zoonosis parasitic disease and mainly caused by the larvae of Echinococcus granulosus and E. multilocularis. Because of the limitation of operation level, such as recurrence and death, the drug treatment is still the most important method in our country. Meanwhile, the annual number of drug treatments is far greater than surgical treatments. Drugs play a significant role in the preoperative reduction of lesions, reducing pain, extending the life of patients .This article re-views the status of animals treatment and clinical treatment of echinococcosis treated by the benzimidazole drugs and their new formulations, provides the basis for exploring the development direction of anti-echinococcosis drug treatment research.

Objective To investigate the bacterial pathogenesis in chronic prostatitis. Methods The prostatic fluid of 132 patients was studied with "five glass"segmented lower urinary tract localization culture test and measurement of IgA and IgG levels. Some bacteria positive cases were treated with levofloxacin. Results 74 patients were bacteria positive in their prostates,32 had Staphylococcus aureus,17 with Staphylococcus epidermidis,10 cases had Escherichia coli and 15 with other bacteria IgG and IgA levels were significantly higher ( P =0.031 and P =0.036) in bacteria positive prostatic fluid than in bacteria negatives ones. Conclusions The positive rate of bacteria culture in the prosatic fluid of patients with chronic prostatitis was high (56.1%) and Gram positive bacterias were more common. These pathogens may come from the partners reproductive tract. The levels of IgA and IgG in prostatic fluid were correlated to the results of bacteria culture.

Objective To evaluate the management of bone pain in patients with advanced prostate cancer. Methods Bone pain in eight prostate cancer patients were managed with analgesics(8 cases), bisphosphonates(4 cases), external beam irradiation(2 cases) and strontium 89(2 cases). Results After the palliative measures, 8 patients were free of afflictions for 1 to 14 months,7 patients being alive and 1 died of respiratory failure thereafter. Conclusions Bone pain is the most common complication of advanced prostate cancer and may have great impact on the life quality of patients. Various therapeutic modalities should be employed to palliate this disabling symptom.

Orthopedic Journal of China 2006;0(07):-
[Objective]To determine a surgical plan for the treatment of scoliosis. [Methods]A consecutive series of scoliosis patients were admitted from Oct. 1,2007 to Feb. 29,2008. The preliminary operation programs (including diagnosis, operative approach, upper instrumented vertebra, lowest instrumented vertebra, whether to need selective fusion of main thoracic curve and multiple operations) were formulated by the attending physicians.Preliminary operation programs were decided on by a symposium. A comparison was made between the two kinds of programs.[Results]Data from 143 consecutive scoliosis patients were reviewed. The average age at the time of operation was 16.1 years (2-49 years) and the average curve was 56.9? (range,15?~115? ). There were 6 spine surgeons involved in the study. The accepted programs formulated by the symposium occurred in 46 (32.2%) cases. One of these cases was changed in surgical approach and need selective fusion of main thoracic curve,19 in upper instrumented vertebra and 29 in lower instrumented vertebra. There were no changes in diagnosis and need multistage operations. Operation programs were difficult to formulated in patients aged less than 20,with Cobb's angle≤70?and thoracic curve patterns. [Conclusion]Preoperative symposium for treatment of idiopathic scoliosis influenced the preliminary operation programs in 32.2%. Sympoium appears to have a significant role in drawing up a more perfect operation program.

Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1981;0(04):-
To evaluate the role of the vagal afferents in the generation and formation of high frequency oscillation (HFO), effect of selective electrical stimulation of A?-? afferent fiber groups of the vagus nerve (0.4-0.5 V, 0.1ms, 5-160 Hz), applied at three respiratory phases: inspiratory phase (IS), expiratory phase (ES), and continuous phase throughout both IS and ES (CS), on the phrenic HFO was quantitatively assessed on ether-anesthetized, vagotomized, paralyzed and artificially ventilated rabbits. After calculation of the power spectrum of the efferent phrenic nerve activity, the mean square values (MSV), representing total amount of HFO-output, and the peak frequency of the HFO were estimated by means of curve-fitting method. Regardless of the mode of the stimulation, the MSV decreased in a stimulus-frequency dependent fashion. The CS was most potent, then IS, and ES was less effective, though the reduction was significant (p

Objective: To discuss the method for establishing the relationship between chromatographic fingerprints and its usage in process control. Methods: The relationship between chromatographic fingerprints of a fermentation product Ganoderma capense and its finished preparation had been developed according to guidance on fingerprint of Chinese traditional medicinal medica. As for peaks whose acceptance criteria of relative area should be set, their relative areas in chromatographic fingerprints of raw material and its finished product, the ratios of relative areas of peaks from raw material to those from finished product and their relative standard differences were calculated. Results: The relative standard differences of the rations of all peaks whose acceptance criteria areas should be set, were less than 8%. Conclusion: The results show that the rations and RSDs are enough to represent the quantitave relationship between chromatographic fingerprints, and the acceptance criteria of RSD should be less than 10% (n≥10). The quality of finished product can only be assured if the acceptance criteria of relative areas of peaks in chromatographic fingerprint of raw material are tighter than those set according to guidance, and the manufacture process keeps consistency.
