Objective To investigate the correlation between neuronal injury and the expression of caspase-3 and caspase-activated deoxyribonuclease (CAD) after focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion in rats, also to study the effect of caspase-3 particular inhibitor. Methods The focal cerebral ischemia model (occluding middle cerebral artery of the rats) was made by using modified inserting thread method and reperfusion after embolizing for one hour. Using HE staining, TUNEL staining and microscopy to observe the morphological changes of ischemic neurons at six different time points including 6,12,24,48 and 72 h, using immunohistochemistry to observe the changes of caspase-3 and CAD protein in two groups (model group and interfere group). Results There was no significant difference between the two groups using HE staining and microscopy. While there was difference of TUNEL staining positive cells in all time points, except 6 h time point; Both the two groups reached the expression peak of caspase-3 in 24 h, and the number was 2. 360± 0. 318 and 0. 804 ± 0. 206 respectively(t' = 10. 039, P < 0. 01), there was statistical significance from 12 h to 48 h between the two groups ; The expression peak time of CAD protein in two groups was 48 h, and the number was 3.061 ± 0. 567 and 0. 812 ± 0. 240 respectively (t' = 8. 960, P < 0. 01), there was statistical significance from 12 to 72 h between two groups. Conclusions Caspase-3-CAD-DNA degradation is one important way of neuronal injury in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion of rats, caspase-3 inhibitor can protect neuron in a certain degree.

Objective To observe the changes of TNF-α and NF-κB after different doses of nalmefene hydrochloride (NAL) therapy for traumatic brain injury (TBI) in an effort to identify the effect of NAL on TBI-induced inflammatory response and the possible mechanism. Methods A model of TBI in the rat was produced using the improved Feeney' s free-fall impact method. The animals were randomly divided into sham group,TBI group,TBI + large dose of NAL (ip,0.2 mg/kg) group (TBI + NAL1group),TBI + medial dose of NAL (ip,0.14 mg/kg) group (TBI + NAL2 group),TBI + small dose of NAL (ip,0.07 mg/kg) group (TBI + NAL3 group).Form of brain tissues in each group was observed and mRNA levels of TNF-α and NF-κB were measured by real-time quantitative PCR assay. Results HE staining revealed severe injury and inflammatory infiltration of brain parenchyma in TBI group ;on the contrary, the situation ameliorated in TBI + NAL1 group,TBI + NAL2 group and TBI + NAL3group,with especially obvious improvement in TBI + NAL2 group. In PCR assay, significant expression of NF-κB and TNF-α was observed at post-TBI days 1,3,5 and 7 (P < 0.05),followed by great reverse after NAL therapy (P < 0.05),particularly in TBI + NAL2 group. Conclusions NAL can reduce the inflammation response to TBI and promote post-injury recovery. Moreover, there exists a NAL concentration window.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the pathological changes and the early anastomosis of the blood vessels in blast-wounded maxillofacial region. Methods A total of 20 dogs were regionally exploded in the left maxillofacial region by KTY-04 electric detonator. Specimens of blood vessels were removed at different distance from the edge of the wounded area at both right after (group A) and 72 h (group B ) after wounded and observed. Free skin flaps with saphenous artery were transplanted to the wounded areas. One week, 2 weeks and 3 months after anastomosis, specimens were taken from the site of anastomosis and observed. Results Falling off of most vascular endothelial cells and the disappearance of most internal elastic membrane of the artery were observed 3 cm from the wounded area in group A with 5 free flaps died. However in group B almost normal condition was seen at the same region. 12 from 15 flaps survived successfully. Conclusion The blood vessels begin to proliferate and repair 3 d after blast wound and this may provide the pathological basis for the possible success in the transplantation of the free flaps with blood vessels.

Methods: Fertilize Radix Salvia miltiorrhizae with the several kinds of combination: the oddment cake(round flat cake made of residue of seed after extracting oil form it), pig manure, chicken manure, duck manure, human excrement, plant ashes, dregs of a decoction (residue of Traditional Chinese medicine material after being extracted), phosphoric fertilizer and compound fertilizer; and gather Radix Salvia miltiorrhizae one year later. Determine the content of Tanshinone Ⅱ A in cultivated Radix Salvia miltiorrhizae by HPLC. Results: The contents of Tanshinone Ⅱ A in Radix Salvia miltiorrhizae fertilized by different sorts of fertilizer are of significant difference. Conclusion: Plant ashes, oddment cake and compound fertilizer are good for growing of Radix Salvia miltiorrhizae and raises of the content of Tanshinone Ⅱ A.

In order to improve the mechanical properties of alpha-tricalcium phosphate (alpha-TCP), we prepared surface-modified carbon fibers (CF) reinforced alpha-TCP composite bone cement. Bone cement was soaked in Ringer's body solution to test its capacity of fast formation of hydroxyapatite crystals and self-solidification. Scan electronic microscope (SEM) observation and compressive strength measurement were taken to analyze the mechanical properties and the micro- morphological structure of CF reinforced alpha-TCP bone cement. The results showed that the bone cement was transferred into hydroxyapatite plates after being soaked in Ringer's simulated body fluid for 5 days. Suitable amount of carbon fibers could well spread in and bond with the matrix of the bone cement. The mechanical properties of the bone cement have been improved by CF reinforcing; the compressive strength reaches 46.7 MPa when the amount of carbon fibers is 0.5% in weight percent, which is 22% higher than that of the non-reinforced alpha-TCP bone cement.

Chinese Mental Health Journal 2018;32(4):324-328
This paper briefly introduces the structure and function of α7nAChR, and mainly reviews the relevant researches about the relationship between a7nAChR and cognition of schizophrenia in the last ten years from molecule genetics and new targets of medication two aspects. It suggests that the abnormal α7AChR is involved in cognition impairment of schizophrenia, and the a7nAChR agonist is probably able to improve the impaired cognition in patients with schizophrenia. Furthermore, KAT-2 as a key enzyme acting on its endogenous antagonist KYNA is also promising to become a new drug target
