Objective: To investigate whether periodontitis might adversely affect the outcome of eradication of gastric Helicobacter pylori(Hp) . Methods: Ninety one patients with gastric Helicobacter pylori and periodontitis were enrolled. The patients were treated by medicine therapy, meanwhile 33 of them were treated by initial periodontal therapy. After treatment, the effect of initial periodontal therapy on the eradication of gastric( Hp ) was examined with 13 C urea breath test. The correlation between the gastric eradication rate and periodontitis was analyzed. To improve the inulinase application in biotechnology, the characteristic of inulinase from Kluyveromyces marxianus YX01 was investigated. The inu gene of K. marxianus YX01 was transformed into Pichiapastoris GS115 host cells with molecular biology techniques. Then we achieved the heterologous expression of exo-inulinase whose molecular mass was about 86.0 kDa by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Furthermore, six His-tag was added to the inulinase and a two-step method was applied in the purification of inulinase, including concentration via dialysis by polyethylene glycol 20 000 and metal Ni-NTA Agarose affinity adsorption. The purification factor of purified protein was 3.6 and the recovery rate of enzyme activity was 33.1%. We characterized the purified inulinase. The optimum temperature was 60 degrees C and pH was 4.62. When inulin and sucrose were used as substrates, the K(m) and V(max) values were 80.53 g/L vs 4.49 g/(L x min) and 183.10 g/L vs 20.20 g/(L x min), respectively. In addition, metal ions including Mn2+, Ca2+, Cu2+, Zn2+ and Fe2+ exhibited different degrees of inhibition on the enzyme activity, and Cu2+, Zn2+ and Fe2+ exhibited the most significant inhibition. Our findings might lay a good foundation for industrial application of inulinase.

Objective To learn birth weight of newborn babies and its influencing factors to provide evidence for maternal healthcare.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted among 5 055 newborn babies from January 2007 to December 2007 to learn their birth weight,gender,pregnant week,maternal age,parity and living areas.Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis were used to explore factors that influenced birth weight.Results For those 5 055 infants,the average birth weight was (3128±675) g,and the incidence of low birth weight or fetal macrosomia was 14.6％ and 8.2％,respectively.In single factor Chi-square test,living area,pregnant week and maternal age were factors that influenced low birth weight and fetal macrosomia (x2 values were 223.807 and 34.120; 2 211.570 and 68.941; 92.199 and 18.745,respectively).Moreover,parity was related with the occurrence of low birth weight (x2=54.822),and gender was found to affect fetal macrosomia (x2=34.503,both P＜0.05).In Logistic regression analysis,preterm birth (odds ratio (OR)=37.140,95％ confidence interval (CI):30.094-45.853),rural residents (OR=0.390,95％ CI:0.310-0.492) and maternal age (OR=0.864,95％ CI:0.779-0.959) were risk factors of low birth weight,and baby boy (OR=0.524,95％ CI:0.423-0.650),urban residents (OR=0.616,95％ CI:0.501-0.758),postterm delivery (OR=4.175,95％ CI:2.918-5.974) and advanced maternal age (OR=1.229,95％ CI:1.104-1.368) were risk factors of fetal macrosomia.Conclusion This investigation suggests a relatively lower average birth weight and higher incidence of fetal macrosomia and low birth weight infant in Changzhi of Shanxi Province.Health interventions,maternal healthcare service programme and pre-and post-natal health education should be carried out to achieve normal birth weight.

OBJECTIVETo establish the chromatographic fingerprint for the quality control of gamboge.

METHODAnalysis on a Luna C8 (4.6 mm x 250 mm, 5 microm) column eluted with mobile phases containing acetonitrile and 0.1% glacial acetic acid in water in gradient mode. The flow rate was 1.0 mL x min(-1) and the detection wavelength was at 362 nm. The temperature of column was 25 degrees C. And data of 11 batches of gamboge samples from different sources were analysed by "similarity evaluation for chromatographic Fingerprint of Traditional Chinese Medicine" software.

RESULTThirteen common peaks were selected in chromatograms, and all the common peeks were separated effectively.

CONCLUSIONThe precision, repeatability, and stability of this method were satisfying. The method developed can be used to identify and evaluate the quality of gamboge.

Objective To explore the effect of different scan parameters and algorithm on detection of iron deposition with coexsiting fat by dual soure CT.Methods One ml homogenate of normal rat liver tissues and 1 ml iron dextran solution with different concentrations (50.000,25.000,12.500,6.250,3.125,and 1.560 mg/ml) were fully mixed respectively.The 6 test tubes were scanned by dual source CT in the mode of dual energy to gain the iron specific slope.Different concentrations of dextran iron(50,40,30,20,10,and 5 mg/ml),triglyceride(volume percent were 60％,30％,and 10％,respectively),and homogenate of normal rat liver tissues were mixed.All 18 tubes were scanned by dual source CT with 80-140 kVp and 100-140 kVp,and all these images were reconstructed by filtered back projection (FBP) and singogram affirmed iterative reconstruction(SAFIRE).Raw data were reconstructed by filtering and iterative method.△H value (△H =CT value low kVp-CT valuehigh kVp) and overlay value of three substances decomposition algorithm were measured and analyzed by t test.The Spearmen correlation was applied in iron concentration and measured values.Results Iron specific slope was found to be 1.9392.When 80-140 kVp and 100-140 kVp were applied,△H values were (198 ± 28) and (152 ± 18) HU by using FBP reconstruction,and △H values were (191 ± 23) and (149 ± 17) HU by using SAFIRE reconstruction.The differences were statistically significant(t =-2.934 and-3.492,P =0.032 and 0.017).Overlay values were (381 ±54) and (236 ±31) HU by using FBP reconstruction,and overlay values were (399 ±53) and (276 ± 43) HU by using SAFIRE reconstruction.The differences were also statistically significant (t =-5.739 and-7.949,P =0.002 and 0.001).Under the same energy portfolio but different reconstruction,both △H and overlay value showed no differences (P ＞ 0.05).Except for the conditions with 100-140 kVp tube voltage,△H had no correlation with iron solution concentration (P ＞ 0.05) under either FBP or SAFIRE reconstruction.When other reconstruction methods and tube voltage combination were used,overlay or △H value showed correlation with iron solution concentrations (r value ranged from 0.959 to 0.997,P values ＜ 0.01).Conclusions Different energy portfolios of dual source CT will act on the measured value of iron deposition.The measured values will not be affected by ways of reconstruction.For the detection of iron coexisting in fat,overlay values of material decomposition algorithm is better.

Objective To understand the clinical features of Behcet′s Disease( BD) with pulmonary hypertension( PH) .Methods The etiology, clinical features, treatment and prognosis of 25 patients with Bahcet′s disease ( BD) complicated with pulmonary hypertension ( PH) admitted in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 2000 to August 2015 were retrospectively reviewed.Results Total 912 BD patients were hospitalized during the same period, among whom 25 cases were complicated with PH accounting for 3%.There were 15 males (60%) and 10 females (40%), with the mean age of (33 ±12) years (range 19 to 66 years).The median interval from the diagnosis of BD to the onset of PH was 1 year (range 0 to 40 years).The most common cause of PH was heart valve disease (n=10, 40%), followed by pulmonary arterial stenosis or occlusion (n=6, 24%), pulmonary arterial aneurysm with thrombus (n=1, 4%), pulmonary thrombosis (n=1, 4%), cardiomyopathy (n=1, 4%);there were no causes identified in 6 cases (24%).Pulmonary arterial pressures estimated by echocardiography were 40 to 117 mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa) with a mean pressure of (60 ±22) mmHg.When the PH developed, elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate ( ESR ) and increased hypersensitive C-reactive protein ( hs-CRP ) were founded in 48% ( 11/23 ) and 82% ( 14/17 ) of patients, respectively.After treated with glucocorticoid (96%,24/25), immunosuppressive agents(92%, 23/25), anticoagulation or thrombolysis(36%,9/25) and specific targeted vasodilator(32%,8/25), the levels of ESR and hs-CRP declined in 91% (10/11) and 71%(10/14) of patients, respectively; and pulmonary arterial systolic pressure declined in 50% of cases (8/16).Among 9 patients followed for 2 to 96 months, 4 died, 1 aggravated, 2 kept stable and 1 improved.Conclusion PH is an uncommon complication in disease.Heart valve disease, pulmonary artery involvement are the major causes of PH.The therapeutic effect and prognosis are poor.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of Tongfeng trace elements nutrient balance agent on the various growth indicators, physiological indicators, and the contents of liquiritin and glycyrrhizic acid in one-year old Glycyrrhiza uralensis.

METHODThe plants of G. uralensis growing in Chifeng of Inner Mongolia and medicinal garden of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine were fertilized for two times, respectively. The photosynthetic physiological indicators were measured by LI-6400 photosynthetic instrument. The pigments and antioxidase activities of the leaves were determined. Then contents of liquiritin and glycyrrhizic acid in the plants were determined by HPLC.

RESULTThe application of this trace element nutrient balance agent could significantly improve the height, chla and chlb, and the photosynthetic physiology indicator such as P(n), C(i), and G(s). Similarly, it could significantly increase the fresh weight of shoots and dry weight of the roots. Compared with control block (CK), the fertilizer which was diluted by 300 times (T(1)) and 600 times (T(2)) significantly increased the content of glycyrrhizic acid by 24.72% and 20. 23%. There was significant difference between different treatments (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe Tongfeng trace elements nutrient balance agent could promote growth, physiology and the content of active constituents of G. uralensis, especially the effect of T(1) was superior to T(2).
