OBJECTIVETo assess the clinical and imaging features of cementoblastoma for diagnosis and differential diagnosis.
METHODSClinical and imaging data of 14 cases were selected for this retrospective study.
RESULTSA total of 14 cases of cementoblastoma patients with ages at diagnosis ranging from 11 years to 58 years (mean age, 27.6 years; median age, 21.0 years). The tumor affected 7 patients from each gender. The mandible was the main site of occurrence. The most common complaints were swelling and pain. Radiographic results showed that cementoblastoma typically presented as a well-circumscribed and radiopaque mass confluent with the involved tooth root and surrounded by a thin and uniform radio-lucent border. Tumor parenchyma was generally mixed-density, which could be divided into two types, namely, homogeneous and heterogeneous patterns. Other significant imaging features included the periphery bone of the lesion sclerosis and cortical thickening of the lower edge of the mandible.
CONCLUSIONObvious characteristics are found in the clinical and imaging findings of cementoblastoma. Accurate recognition of this lesion is significant in clinic to avoid misdiagnoses.

Aim To determine the possibilities and mechanisms of EGFR, a receptor protein tyrosine kinase associated with many important cellular processes re-sponsible for cardiovascular remodeling in renovascular hypertensive rats. Methods 2K1C hypertensive rats were used in the present study. Blood pressure was measured with the tail-cuff method. LVMI and his-topathological changes in the cardiovascular system were analysed. EGFR expressions of aorta and myocar-dium as well as phosphorylation levels of ERK in hy-pertensive rats were detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blot analysis, respectively. Results Sys-tolic blood pressure was markedly increased 2 weeks after 2K1C surgery. Cardiovascular remodeling induced by hypertension was confirmed by elevated LVMI, pro-liferation of collagen fibers in myocardial interstitium, histopathological changes in cardiovascular system and increased IMT of thoracic aorta 6 weeks after 2 K1 C surgery. Compared with sham rats, EGFR expression in the ventricular myocardium of 2 K1 C rats was signifi-cantly increased at 6 weeks ( P<0. 05 ) , and the EG-FR/GAPDH ratio was higher in 2 K1 C rats with higher systolic blood pressure ( P < 0. 05 ) . Phosphorylation level of ERK 1/2 was upregulated correspondingly in 2 K1 C rats ( P <0. 01 ) . Increased EGFR expression was also found in aortas of 2K1C rats, particularly in tunica intima and media. Conclusion EGFR and its down-stream kinases ERK 1/2 are involved in cardio-vascular remodeling in association with the severity of hypertension in renovascular hypertensive rats.

Objective To investigate the relationship between serum secreted phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) and the severity of the disease in cobra bite patients. Methods Fifty-two cobra bite patients admitted to our hospital from January 2015 to December 2015 were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. According to the degree of disease, patients were divided into the light and heavy risk groups. According to the degree of swelling of the affected limbs, patients were divided into the mild swelling group and moderate-severe swelling group. According to the time difference between visits, patients were divided into: visit time <8 h group and visit time ≥ 8 h group. Twenty healthy adult volunteers served as the control group. The levels of serum sPLA2, C reactive protein (CRP), D-dimer (DD), lactic acid (LAC) and peripheral blood leukocyte count (WBC) were measured and compared in different groups. Quantitative data were analyzed using t test and rank sum test. Results The levels of serum sPLA2 in the light and heavy risk group were statistically different from those in the control group (P<0.05), and were statistically significant between the light and heavy risk groups (P<0.01) and between the mild swelling group and moderate-severe swelling group (P<0.05). The serum sPLA2 levels in group A and group B were also significantly different from those in the control group (P<0.05). The level of sPLA2 was positively correlated with the level of LAC, DD and WBC, and the correlation coefficients were 0.3142, 0.2752 and 0.6534, respectively. Conclusions The higher the level of serum sPLA2, the more serious the patient's poisoning symptoms. It is of certain clinical value to evaluate the condition of cobra.

Annals of Surgical Treatment and Research 2022;103(1):53-61
Purpose:
Increasing evidence has shown an association of surgical technique, particularly anastomotic configuration, with postoperative recurrence of CD. This pilot study aimed to evaluate short-term outcomes of isoperistaltic side-to-side anastomosis (ISSA) employed on Crohn disease (CD) patients.
Methods:
Data were retrieved from a prospectively maintained database. Postoperatively, all patients were followed up with close endoscopic (ileocolonoscopy) surveillance.
Results:
From January 2017 to May 2021, 30 patients diagnosed with CD who underwent ISSA were compared with 45 CD patients who underwent antiperistaltic side-to-side anastomosis (ASSA). The 2 groups were comparable in baseline demographics and clinical characteristics. No significant differences were observed between groups regarding postoperative safety issues, including anastomotic leak, abdominal/pelvic abscess, length of hospital stay, readmission rate within 30 days, etc. At postoperative 24th month, reduced endoscopic recurrence was observed in the ISSA group compared with that in the ASSA group (18 of 24, 75.0%, vs. 36 of 38, 94.7%; P = 0.024). Regarding surgical recurrence, there was 0% in the ISSA group vs. 4.4% (2 of 45) in the ASSA group (P = 0.510).
Conclusion
In this study, we aimed to explore the influence of ISSA on postoperative recurrence in CD patients, and the preliminary results show that ISSA was technically safe and feasible, and appears to be effective in reducing postoperative recurrence in CD patients. However, our conclusion was underpowered due to small sample size and inadequate followup. We proposed ISSA be considered as another alternative option in the toolbox of inflammatory bowel disease surgeons when performing anastomosis on CD patients.
