Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of extracorporeal shock wave combined with orthopaedic insole on plantar fasciitis. Methods: A total of 153 plantar with plantar fasciitis were randomly divided into a combined group (n=51), an extracorporeal shock wave group (n=53) and an orthopaedic group (n=49). The combined group received treatment of both extracorporeal shock wave and orthopaedic insole while the extracorporeal shock wave or the orthopaedic group only received the treatment of extracorporeal shock wave or orthopaedic insole. The therapeutic parameters such as visual analogue scale (VAS) scores, continued walking time and thickness of the plantar fascia were monitored before and atf er the treatment for 2 weeks, 1 month and 3 months, respectively. Results: The VAS scores in the 3 groups were all reduced after the treatment compared with the corresponding scores before the therapy (P<0.05). hTe VAS score in the extracorporeal shock wave group was greater than that in the orthopedic group atfer the treatment for 2 weeks. hTe VAS score in the combined group was smaller than that in the orthopedic group atfer the treatment for 2 weeks and 3 months (P<0.05). hTe VAS scores in the orthopedic group and the combined group were smaller than those in the extracorporeal shock wave group after the treatment for 1 month or 3 months (P<0.05). The continued walking time and thickness of the plantar fascia was improved after the treatment (P<0.05). hTe cure rate and total effective rate in the combination group were obviously greater than those in the two other groups. hTe cure rate in the orthopedic group was greater than that in the extracorporeal shock wave group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Extracorporeal shock wave combined with orthopaedic insole therapy is an effective method to treat plantar fasciitis. It is recommended to spread in clinic.

In order to explore the clinical application and mechanism of the ghost points in the treatment of mental diseases, taking "the ghost points" and "mental diseases" as the theme and the key words, the literatures in recent 10 years on the treatment of mental diseases with the ghost points were collected from CNKI and Wanfang database and analyzed. It is discovered that the ghost points can treat schizophrenia, manic-depressive disorder, dementia, stroke, loss of consciousness, insomnia. anxiety, depression and hysteria and the efficacy is favorable. It is believed that the ghost points act on balancing yin and yang, regulating qi and blood, regaining consciousness and tranquilizing the mind and they achieve the very excellent effect on mental diseases. At present, the reports on this aspect are limited. Hence, it is required to promote the study on the clinical application and mechanism of the ghost points so as to enlarge the clinical indications of the ghost points and provide the powerful support on mechanism for the treatment of mental diseases.

Objective To evaluate the effects of health education of house-to-house visit in malaria prevention and control in the border and minority areas. Methods A health education of house-to-house visit in malaria prevention and control was car-ried out,and baseline and follow up surveys were conducted by qualitative and quantitative methods to document the changes of local villagers’knowledge, attitudes and behaviors(KAP)of malaria prevention and control in 2 counties of Yunnan Province, and the results before and after the interventions were analyzed and compared. Results After the intervention, the cognition rates about malaria symptoms and signs, transmission mode, preventive measures and health-seeking behaviors were 99.3%, 98.9%,79.9%and 99.3%respectively in the local residents, and those were 39.2%,8.2%,47.0%and 49.9%respectively be-fore the intervention, and all the differences were statistically significant(P all<0.01). Conclusions KAP related to malaria among the targeting population has improved after the interventions and the house-to-house visit is an effective community-based health education approach.

Objective:To analyze the characteristics of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) expression in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).Methods:lncRNA-mRNA microarray was conducted on the liver tissue samples from 10 patients with simple gallbladder stone (5 NAFLD liver samples and 5 normal liver samples),and the differentially expressed lncRNA was analyzed by bioinformatics technology. Results:Compared with the normal liver samples, there were abnormal expression of 1 735 lncRNAs and 1 485 mRNAs in NAFLD liver samples.Among them,535 lncRNAs and 760 mRNAs were up-regulated,1 200 lncRNAs and 725 mRNAs were down-regulated.Conclusion:Compared with normal liver, the expression oflncRNA in NAFLD tissues is obviously abnormal. These lncRNAs may play an important role in the occurrence and development of NAFLD.

OBJECTIVE To understand the relevant factors of nosocomial infection of inpatients in order to provide the evidence for taking measures to prevent and control the infection effectively.METHODS A retrospective survey was carried out on 10059 cases of hospitalized patients during Jan and Dec of 2008.RESULTS The nosocomial infection rate of hospitalized patients in this period was 4.3%(437/10059).The high risk infected rates were respectively as follows:24.9% in the Blood Department,15.1 % in the Tumor Department; The infection site were respiratory tract(59.3%),urinary tract(14.3%);The main pathogens were Gram negative bacteria(40.7%),fungus infection(25.4%);The risk factors mainly were usage of antibiotic drugs(40.7%),and underlying diseases of tumor(16.2%).CONCLUSIONS The effective measures for reducing the incidence of nosocomial infection should be taken.More attention should be paid on the risk factors.

Objective To study the expression and clinical significance of ezrin in breast carcinoma. Methods Immunohistuchemieal staining(S-P) was used to detect the expression of ezrin in 63 cases of breast car-cinoma samples. Results Among these 63 samples, the total expression rates of ezrin were 55.56% (35/63). With the increasing of axillary lymph nodes metastasis and clinical staging, the rates of expressing of ezrin elevated (P<0.05),which was remarkably lower in patients whose disease-free survival(DFS) was > 5 years,or those whose DFS≤5 years or died within five years(P<0.05) ,but the expression of ezrin was not correlated with tumor size, age and menopausal status (P>0.05). Conclusion The expression of ezrin may contribute to prognostic e-valuation for breast carcinoma.

Though Runx2 and Osterix are both key transcription factors in the pathway of osteoblast differentiation, whether Runx2 positively regulates Osterix being unknown. It was showed that Runx2 induced the gene expression of Osterix both in the non-osteoblastic cell lines, either pluripotent or differentiated, and in the osteoblastic cell lines. At the same time, the results also indicated that Runx2 up-regulated the activity of the 3.2 kb human Osterix promoter. Further experiments identified a highly conserved and functional Runx2 binding site "AGTGGTT" within the promoter. Thus the results support the hypothesis that Runx2 is involved in the regulation of the Osterix gene expression. Moreover, the transient transfection and dual-luciferase assay showed Osterix up-regulated the activity of the 2.3 kb type Ⅰ collagen promoter in the non-osteoblastic cells, but Runx2 did not. This difference implies that Osterix, the down stream transcription factor of Runx2 during osteoblast differentiation, is needed to stimulate the osteoblast-specific gene expression of type Ⅰ collagen.

Objective: To observe the effects of electroacupuncture on withdrawal anxiety in heroin-dependent patients. Methods: Sixty heroin-withdrawal subjects with negative urine morphine were digitally randomized into two groups: acupuncture group in which 30 cases were treated by electroacupuncture and control group in which 30 cases were given no treatment. The patients were assessed by Hamilton anxiety scale before treatment and one week, two weeks and three weeks after treatment. Results: After treatment, the anxiety symptoms of heroin-dependent patients were improved more significantly in the acupuncture group than in the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion: Electroacupuncture has good effects on anxiety symptoms and emotions of heroin-dependent patients.
