A series of tacrine-methoxybenzene hybrids (5a-5i) were designed, synthesized and evaluated as inhibitors of cholinesterases (ChEs). All the compounds had better ChEs inhibitory activities than tacrine with IC50 values at the nanomolar range. Compound 5h exhibited the strongest inhibition on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) with an IC50 value of 6.74 nmol x L(-1) and compound 5f showed the most potent inhibition on butyrylcholinesterase with IC50 value of 3.83 nmol x L(-1). Kinetic and molecular modeling studies showed that these hybrids targeted both the catalytic active site and the peripheral anionic site of AChE.

Objective To evaluate the short-term curative effect and the safety of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) therapy by using microspheres and lipiodol for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).Methods A total of 87 patients with pathologically proved HCC were randomly divided into the study group (n=44,using embospheres of 100-300 μm in diameter together with lipiodol) and the control group (n=43,using gelfoam particles of 350-560 μm in diameter together with lipiodol).Postopertaive biochemical (liver function and AFP) findings and imaging (CT and/or MRI) manifestations were recorded, and the clinical efficacy and adverse reactions were analyzed. Results TACE was performed in all 87 patients. After the treatment, both the disease benefit rate and the postoperative reduction in AFP level in the study group were remarkably better than those in the control group (P<0.05),but postoperative liver function indexes were not significantly different from the preoperative ones (P>0.05).The average number of interventional therapy within the follow-up period of 6 months in the study group was smaller than that in the control group (P<0.05).No statistically significant differences in 6-,12-and 18-month survival rates existed between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion In treating HCC,TACE by combination use of microspheres and lipiodol is safe, its short-term curative effect is more obvious than TACE by combination use of gelfoam particles and lipiodol, and it can reduce the times of interventional procedure. Before TACE,careful planning of the pre-treatment of hepatic artery-portal vein fistula and the superselective catheterization with micro catheter should be taken into consideration.

Objective:
To learn the concentration of target genes of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 ( SARS-CoV-2 ) and the influencing factors in the confirmed cases with coronavirus disease 2019 ( COVID-19 ) in Ningbo.
Methods:
Demographic information and clinical diagnosis of COVID-19 cases reported in Ningbo from January 21 to February 20, 2020 were collected through China Disease Control and Prevention Information System. The Ct values of ORF1ab and N of the cases were collected through Ningbo Center for Disease Control and Prevention and designated hospitals, and analyzed in terms of gender, age, severity, clinical classification, source of case, sampling time and specimen type.
Results:
There were 157 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 56 males ( 35.67% ) and 101 females ( 64.33% ). Sixty-seven cases ( 42.68% ) aged between 40 and 60 years old. The Ct values of ORF1ab and N in females were 29.96±5.28 and 30.38±4.90, which were higher than 27.56±4.94 and 28.03±4.88 in males ( P<0.05 ). The Ct values of ORF1ab and N were the lowest when sampled at 1-7 days after onset ( P<0.05 ), which were 27.84±4.80 and 28.35±4.65. The Ct values of ORF1ab ( rs=0.288, P=0.001 ) and N ( rs=0.296, P=0.001 ) were positively correlated with sampling time. The Ct values of ORF1ab in pharyngeal swab and sputum were 29.19±4.85 and 28.74±6.40, the Ct values of N in pharyngeal swab and sputum were 29.61±4.60 and 29.22±6.10, both without significant differences between different samples ( P>0.05 ).
Conclusions
Sampling time has a great influence on the Ct values of ORF1ab and N of SARS-CoV-2.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effects of Jinye Baidu Granule ( JYBDG), a traditional Chinese medicine compound prescription, on fetal growth and development with maternal active human cytomegalovirus infection.
METHODSA prospective, randomized and controlled trial was adopted during January 1996 to June 2002. From the pregnant women with an abnormal pregnant history, 240 cases were screened to be infected by human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) by enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA) and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). They were assigned according to the random number table to two groups. The 122 cases in the treatment group were administrated with JYBDG, one package each time, three times a day for two continuous weeks, while the other 118 in the control group did not receive any treatment. The negative conversion rate of both HCMV-IgM and HCMV late mRNA, the positive rate of HCMV-DNA in placenta and the intrauterine transmission rate between the two groups were compared, and fetal growth and development in partial fetuses were also observed.
RESULTSThe negative conversion rate of both HCMV-lgM and HCMV late mRNA, the positive rate of HCMV-DNA in placenta and the intrauterine transmission rate in the treatment group were 77. 05% (94/122), 48. 98% (48/98) and 21.74% (10/46) respectively, while those in the control group were 38. 14% (45/118), 67.50% (54/80) and 52.63% (20/38) respectively, all showing significant difference between the two groups (P<0. 01). Totally 35 normal infants and 11 abnormal infants were born in the treatment group, and the number in the control group was 20 and 18 respectively, and comparison between the two groups showed significant difference (P<0.01). Six months of child birth, the scores of both mental development index (MDI) and psychomotor development index (PDI) of infants were higher in the treatment group (20 cases) than those in the control group (20 cases), but there was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONJYBDG could decrease the intrauterine transmission of HCMV and is beneficial to fetal growth and development.
