Catch-up growth,a phenomenon that occurs after a short time growth-inhibiting condition,has been proved to be strongly associated with insulin resistance.But the mechanism of insulin resistance in the process of catch-up growth is not clear.

Objective: To observe oxygen-free-radical clearing activity and anti-lipid peroxidation of Shengyaling injection in vitro. Method: In-vitro oxygen free radical generation system (OFRGS) and lipid peroxidation induced by OFRGS in the supernatant fluid of mice heart tissue homogenate were used to evaluate the anti-oxidation activity of Shengyaling injection. Result:Shengyaling injection cleared superoxidase anion free radical induced by hypoxanthine-xanthine oxidase system and hydroxyl free radical induced by fenton reaction system, and inhibited mice heart tissue lipid peroxidation induced by FRGS at a dose-dependent manner. Conclusion:Shengyaling injection possesses an anti-oxidation effect.

Objective To investigate the interference effects of orexin A on cell proliferation of the insulin?secreting beta?cell line(INS?1 cells) through the orexin receptor 1(OX1R)and the AKT/PKB signaling pathway. Methods INS?1 cells were exposed to different concentrations of orexin A in vitro,and treated with OX1R antagonist(SB334867),PI3K antagonist(wortmannin),or AKT antagonist(PF?04691502). The INS?1 cell proliferation and apoptosis,insulin secretion,OX1R protein activity and AKT phosphorylation level were determined. Results Orexin A(10-10 to 10-6 mol/L)stimulated the proliferation and activation of INS?1 cells,prevented apoptpsis,and increased insulin secretion. Additionally,AKT phosphorylation was stimulated by orexin A(10-10 to 10-6 mol/L). The OX1R antagonist SB334867(10-6 mol/L),the PI3K antagonist wortmannin (10-8 mol/L)and the AKT antagonist PF?04691502(10-6 mol/L)weakened the effects of orexin A. Conclusion Orexin A activated the AKT sig?naling pathway through the mediation of orexin A?OX1R,and promoted cell proliferation in INS?1 cells.

Objective To evaluate the clinical manifestations and responses to treatment of adult onset Still's disease (AOSD).Methods One hundred and four AOSD patients were retrospectively analyzed with clinical features and treatment responses.Results The major clinical features were:spiking fever (100%),evanescent maculopapular rash (95%),polyarthralgia (90%),sore throat (78%),lymphadenectasis (66%),hepatosplenomegaly (57%),hydmhymenitis (30%),neutrephilia (98%),liver dysfunction (62%),increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate (96%) and hyperferritinaemia (99%).Reactive lymphnodes hyperplasia was shown in all patients underwent lymphnode biopsy.94% and 66% patients were treated with glucocorticoid and immune suppressants.Those treated with ≥40 mg/d prednisone or its equivalent dosage achieved quicker remission and less relapses.Conclusion Patients who present with spiking fever,polyarthralgia,maculopapular rash,sore throat and predominant neutrophilia should be considered the possibility of AOSD after tumor or infection are excluded.Glucoeorticoid and immune suppressive drugs are effective medications for AOSD.

Objective To explore the application effects of simulation diagnosis teaching in practical teaching of obstetrics and gynecology.Methods Students were divided into simulation teaching group(n=46) and traditional teaching group(n=46).Survey was conducted among simulation teaching group and traditional teaching group concerning clinical teaching of obstetrics and gynecology.Teaching effects were evaluated by questionnaire and examination.SPSS 13.0 statistics software was used to do the analysis.Enumeration data was analyzed by chi-square test while measurement data by t test.P＜0.05 stands for statistically significant difference.Results There were significant differences in improving students' clinical thinking and practical ability between two groups(P＜0.05).Satisfaction degree of simulation teaching group was significantly higher than that of traditional teaching group.Examination results of simulation teaching group was significantly higher than that of traditional teaching group(theoretical exam:P=0.001; operational exam:P=0.000).Conclusions Simulation diagnosis teaching can provide students more opportunities to practice and improve students' clinical thinking ability and clinical practice ability.

Objective By investigating the actualities of career development potential of eight-year program medical students, to explore a direction of training mode innovation aiming to improve career development potential. Methods Eight-year program medical graduates, their tutors, and di-rectors of their clinical department in a university hospital were the subjects of the current study. Questionnaire method was applied to evaluate professional competence including clinical skills, re-search capabilities and integrative ability . Anonymous questionnaires were dispensed to eight-year program medical graduates for self-evaluation. Distinct anonymous questionnaires were dispensed to tutors directors for evaluation. Traditional doctoral graduates (professional degree or academic degree) were set as standard for comparison of specific ability of eight-year program medical students. Results 74 out of 85 (87%) questionnaires for Eight-year program medical graduates were available. 53 out of 63 (84%) questionnaires for tutors were available. 21 out of 26 (81%) questionnaires for directors of clinical departments were available. In clinical capabilities, according to 43 percent (32 persons) of the eight-year MD graduates' self-assessment and the evaluation of 94%(50 persons) mentors and 81%(17 people) department directors, eight-year program medical graduates were regarded as lower-skilled clinicians compared with doctoral graduates with professional degree . Eight-year program medical graduates were also considered with worse research capabilities than doctoral graduates with profes-sional degree by themselves (76%, n=56), their tutors (91%, n=48), and their department directors (86%, n=18). Conclusions The survey shows that to some extent, the current eight-year clinical doctoral graduates lack of career development potential, reflecting the current training mode cannot lead to the given training goals. We suggest that both clinical skills and research capabilities should be enhanced to make sure that eight-year program medical graduates deserve the title of academic physicianorphysician scientists.

Purpose To investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata(RRP)on the footpad inflammation induced by complete Freund's adjuvant(CFA)in rats.Methods CFA 100 μL were injected subcutaneously to the Wistar rats at the pad of right hindfoots.19 days later,the rats were daily siven RRP water extract(0.625,1.250,2.500 g/kg·bw)or dexamethasone(0.5mg/ks·bw)intragastrically.The changes of body weight and foot volume were measured.The indexes of organ and blood were determined at the 29th day,the foot pad was removed,and routine paraffin section was performed.Results The model rats kept foot swelling and lymphocyte infiltrating,and the platelet number decreased.The other indexes were statistically insignificant when compared to the controls.RRP did not display any anti-inflammatory effect on the swollon foots,but thoracic gland and spleen indexes were rescued,and platelet number and creatinine content were increased by RRP administration in a dose-dependent manner.The anti-inflammation of dexamethasone was conspicuous,but the side effects were also significant.Conclusion RRP may be plays an adjunctive action in herbal recipes to treat rheumatoid arthritis.
