Objective To investigate the expression of connective tissue growth factor( CTGF) and the effects of azithromycin in airway remodeling in asthmatic mice. Methods BALB/c female mice were randomly divided into 3 groups;control group(A),asthma group(B) ,and azithromycin treated group(C),with 10 mice in each group.Mice were sensitized and challenged continually with ovalbumin( OVA).The distribution and types of collagens were detected by cirius red staining.Lung hydroxyproline content was determined by acid hydrolysis.CTCF expression in mice pulmonary tissues was detected by SABC immunohistochemistry. Results After continual challenging with OVA,collagen hyperplasia was found in the airway wall and CTCF positive expression in airway epithelium.CTCF expression was closely associated with lung hydroxyproline content(r = 0.65,P <0.01).Conclusion Asthma continually challenged with OVA could result sub-epithelial fibrosis and remodeling in airway, which could be associated with the upregulation of CTCF over-expression.Azithromycin inhibited airway remodeling in asthmatic mice, possibly by inhibiting the expression of CTGF.

To study the association between penetration enhancement effect of essential oils and drug properties of traditional Chinese medicines. Through literature research, 34 kinds of essential oils with the penetration enhancement effect were collected. The methods of frequency analysis and variable crosstab were used for intuitive analysis and association analysis. The association between penetration enhancement effect of essential oils and drug properties (four natures, five flavors, channel tropism) were analyzed by a general linear model. According to the findings, the essential oils with penetration enhancement effect were all sourced from acrid traditional Chinese medicines, because their positive drug nature contributed to the enhancement of the penetration effect of essential oil; five flavors had little effect on penetration enhancement (P = 0.6982), but four natures and channel tropism showed significant effects (P = 0.011, 0.077). In conclusion, there were obvious association and regularity between penetration enhancement effect of essential oils and drug properties of traditional Chinese medicine.

Objective:To explore the differences in intravascular ultrasound results in elderly coronary heart disease(CHD)patients with different uric acid levels. Methods:A total of 145 elderly patients diagnosed with CHD in our hospital from December 2017 to May 2020 were included as study subjects.Uric acid levels were measured and intravascular ultrasound examination was conducted in all patients. They were divided into different groups based on uric acid levels: Group A(uric acid≤199 μmol/L), Group B(uric acid 200~399 μmol/L)and Group C(uric acid≥400 μmol/L). Data from intravascular ultrasound-derived indexes were analyzed and compared between the three groups. Results:There was no significant difference in the degree of left main stenosis between Group A and Group B, but it was less severe in both groups than in Group C( F=5.625, P=0.039). Plaque fibrous cap thickness showed no significant difference between Group B and Group C, but it was smaller than in Group A( F=7.825, P=0.020). Group C had the largest plaque area and maximum thickness among the three groups, followed by Group B[(11.12±1.73)mm 2 and(1.76±0.24)mm]and Group A[(8.29±3.14)mm 2 and(1.38±0.09)mm]( F=6.384 and 6.827, P=0.028 and 0.015). Conclusions:Elevated uric acid levels in elderly CHD patients can increase the area and thickness of plaques, and reduce plaque fibrous cap thickness, leading to an increased risk of formation of unstable plaques, which can be life-threatening for these patients. Thus, monitoring and managing uric acid levels should be stressed in elderly CHD patients.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2005;25(10):725-728
OBJECTIVETo study the effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on the visual system and the mechanism.
METHODSTwenty-four rabbits were randomly divided into a "Hegu" (Ll 4) group and a "Taixi" (KI 3) group, 12 rabbits in each group. The rabbit model with separated monocular optic nerve was developed, cutting the link between the retina with the center, but do not injure the blood circulation in the retina. The effect of electroacupuncture on flicker vision evoked potential (FVEP) was investigated.
RESULTSWhen the optic nerve was cut off, the distal fibers of descending regulating the retina were cut off, the FVEP of the operative eye extinguished. Elctroacupuncture at "Hegu" (LI 4) and "Taixi" (KI 3) at various stages have stronger inhibiting action on the latent time and amplitudes of N1, P1, N2 of FVEP, marked by prolongation of the latent time of peak, and obvious decrease of the amplitude. And this inhibiting action has difference of acupoints.
CONCLUSIONThe distal fiber plays a certain role in the process of electroacupuncture influencing flicker electroretinogram (FERG) and FVEP, but the effect of acupuncture on FERG is induced through the distal fibers to influence the retina in a limited extent, but not through the central descending inhibition.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2013;21(2):351-355
This study was purposed to investigate the effects of 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) on sensitizing HL-60 cells to tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL)-induced apoptosis and its possible mechanism. The proliferative inhibition of HL-60 cells treated with different concentrations of 2-DG and TRAIL was measured by MTT assay. The cells were treated with 2-DG, TRAIL, and 2-DG combined with TRAIL at the concentration < IC50 value, i.e. 10 mmol/L for 2-DG and 100 ng/ml for TRAIL. Apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometry with PI staining; the expression of RIP1, GRP78, and PARP was analyzed by Western blot; the activity of caspase-3 was detected by special detection kit. The results showed that the combined treatment of HL-60 cells for 48 h induced an apoptotic rate of (45.1 ± 4.3)%, which was significantly higher than that of treated with 2-DG or TRAIL alone; at the same time, the combined treatment potentiated the expression of GRP78 and caspase-3 activity, and down-regulated the expression of RIP1. It is concluded that 2-DG can sensitize HL-60 cells to TRAIL-induced apoptosis, which may be correlated with excessive endoplasmic reticulum stress response, down-regulation of RIP1, and increase of caspase-3 activity.
