BACKGROUND:Research on liver transplantation has not just focused on survival rate and survival time, and the quality of life has become a new field of study. However, it is stil a blank about the quality of life of liver transplant recipients in Xinjiang. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the quality of life of liver transplant recipients in Xinjiang and to explore the main risk factors for the quality of life in patients. METHODS: A Chinese version of the SF-36 health survey was used to retrospectively evaluate the quality of life of liver transplant recipients in Xinjiang. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The scores of al eight dimensions in the patients with liver transplantation ranged from 60.6±18.7 to 93.9±22.1. Primary diseases, operation method, marital status, level of education, occupation, gender and age could influence the quality of life of the liver transplant recipients, but nation, income and the way of medical insurance had no significant effect on the quality of life. These findings indicate that there is no obvious difference in the quality of life between liver transplant recipients and normal population, and the scores in six dimensions are higher in the liver transplant recipients than normal population, which is further confirmed that liver transplantation is an effective way for treatment of advanced liver disease.

World Science and Technology-Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2014;(1):177-180
This study was aimed to carry out pharmacological research on the hemostatic activity and mechanism of Yi medicine Ma-Bu (Paris polyphylla Smith var stenophylla Franch.). One kind of C27 steroidal saponin from P. polyphylla Smith var stenophylla Franch. was isolated and identified as Paris saponin H (PSH). The effect of PSH on the index of bleeding time (BT), prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) and fibrinogen (FIB) of mice were measured. The results showed that PSH have significant hemostatic activity by shortening BT. The effect of PSH on shortening PT and APTT of mouse was not significant. However, the FIB was enhanced significantly after treatment with PSH. It was concluded that PSH had no significant promoting effect on the extrinsic coagulation pathway (ECP) or the intrinsic coagulation pathway (ICP). The enhancement of FIB may be a pathway for the effect of hemostatic activity by PSH.

Objective To describe a new surgical approach to treatment of scapular neck and body fractures and evaluate the clinical outcomes. Methods From December 2002 to October 2004, 13 cases of the scapular neck and body fractures including 9 males and 4 females with age range of 22-48 years (mean 31 years) were admitted into our hospital. There were seven cases with neck fractures, two with associated clavicle fractures, six with mere body fractures, seven with associated subluxation of humeral head and three with associated rib fractures. Internal fixation and open reduction reconstruction using titanium plate and screws were for treatment of scapular neck and body fractures in all 13 cases by making straight incision along lateral border of the scapula. Results The operation lasted for 40-80 minutes, with intraoperative blood loss for 30-80 ml. The follow up for 4-24 months showed average fracture healing time for 6-8 weeks and satisfactory results in 10 cases. Conclusion The surgical approach with straight incision along the lateral border of the scapula can attain perfect reduction and internal fixation of scapular neck and body fractures as well as satisfactory functional recovery with minor (trauma.)

Objective To evaluate the applicability of the simplified equation of MDRD to predict glomerular filtration rate(GFR)from serum creatinine in Chinese patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD),and refit the MDRD equation parameter estimates with Chinese patients data. Methods A total of 760 hospitalized CKD patients were investigated from 2002 to 2005.Patients'sex,age,height and body weight were recorded;plasma creatinine and ~ 99m Tc-GFR(standardized by body surface area)were measured in all patients;GFR was estimated with simplified equation of MDRD and Cockcroft-Gault;the accurancy of estimated GFR with MDRD and CG were compared with~ 99m Tc-GFR in different stage of CKD.Totally 670 patients were randomly selected as the training sample, the remaining 90 patients constituted the validation sample. We used stepwise multiple regression to refit the equation of MDRD and the regression models were developed by using the training sample. The refitting equation was then tested and compared with the other equation in the validation sample. Results (1)Both the MDRD and CG-GFR prediction equations seemd to systematically underestimate GFR,but the accurancy of MDRD equation was better than CG-GFR in stage Ⅰ~Ⅲ of CKD.(2)The bias of estimated GFR(MDRD or CG-GFR equation)with ~ 99m Tc-GFR was lower in stage Ⅰ~Ⅲ than in stage Ⅳ~Ⅴ of CKD.(3)Refitting of the MDRD equation parameter estimates to Chinese patients data set resulted in the following prediction equations:GFR=234.96?(Scr)~ -0.926 ?(Age)~ -0.280 ?0.828(Female).(4)Comparing with~ 99m Tc-GFR,the bias of estimated GFR calculated by the refitting MDRD equation was lower than that of estimated with MDRD or CG especially in the stage Ⅳ~Ⅴ of CKD in Chinese patients. Conclusion the simplified equation of MDRD can estimate GRF accurately, but the equation must be refitted in Chinese patients.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2007;27(3):339-42
In order to investigate the effect of curcumin on proliferation and apoptosis of human pterygium fibroblasts (HPF) in culture and search for a new method to prevent the recurrence after pterygium surgery, HPF was incubated with 0-160 micromol/L curcumin for 24-96 h. The MTT method was used to assay the biologic activities of curcumin at different time points and different doses. The expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in each group was detected by immunohistochemistry. The cell cycle distribution was detected by flow cytometry (FCM). Administration of 20-80 micromol/L curcumin for 24-72 h could significantly inhibit HPF proliferation in a dose-and time-dependent manner (P<0.05). After treatment with curcumin at different concentrations of 20, 40, 80 and 160 micromol/L for 24 h, FCM revealed there was a significant sub-G1 peak at each concentration. The number of HPF in G0/G1 phase was increased, while in S phase, it was decreased (P<0.05). At the concentration of 20-80 micromol/L, curcumin, in a dose-dependent manner (P<0.05), could inhibit the expression of PCNA in HPF. It was suggested that curcumin could significantly inhibit the proliferation of HPF, make HPF arrest in G0/G1 phase and induce the apoptosis of HPF in a dose-and time-dependent manner.
