The leading cause of drug withdrawal from market and clinical trials failure is drug-induced liver injury (DILI). Varying clinical, histological and laboratory features of DILI, as well as undefined underlying mechanisms, hinder patients to be diagnosed in the early-stage of the disease and receive effective treatments. Conventional indicators, like serum transaminases and bilirubin, have inevitable limitations referring to sensitive prediction and specific detection of DILI. In order to reduce the occurrence of DILI, researchers have attempted to discover potential biomarkers with higher specificity and sensitivity from blood and urine in recent years. This article aims to review recent advances in biomarkers of DILI.

Objective To investigate the killing effect of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) on spinal metastasis of transplanted VX2 carcinoma in experimental rabbit models. Methods Spinal metastasis of transplanted VX2 carcinoma model was successfully established in 18 rabbits. The experimental rabbits were randomly and equally divided into three groups with 6 rabbits in each group. Under CT guidance , PMMA or saline was injected into the center of VX2 tumor; in group A 0.3 ml of PMMA was used, in group B 0.1 ml of PMMA was used and in group C (control group) 0.3 ml saline was used. Twenty-four hours after the injection, the animals were sacrificed. Four tissue samples were obtained from the sites at 1 mm , 5 mm, 10 mm and 15 mm away from the PMMA mass in each rabbit of group A and group B , while four tissue samples were collected from different four sites from the tumor ’s center to border in each rabbit of group C. TdT-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) method was used to determine the tumor cell apoptosis rate. Results After successful establishment of rabbit model, injection of PMMA was performed in sixteen among the eighteen rabbits. Technical success rates were 83.3% in both group A and B, and the success rate was 100% in group C. The difference in technical success rate was not significant. The mean tumor cell apoptosis rates of spinal VX2 carcinoma at 1 mm, 5 mm and 10 mm away from the PMMA mass in group A were (65.75±18.81)%, (50.00±14.24)% and(14.95±8.98)% respectively. The mean apoptosis rate in the control group was (9.79 ±5.24)%; the differences between the group A and the control group were statistically significant (P<0.05). The mean tumor cell apoptosis rate of spinal VX2 carcinoma at 15 mm away from the PMMA mass in group A was (10.30 ±8.13)%, which was not significantly different with that of the control group. The mean tumor cell apoptosis rates of spinal VX2 carcinoma at 1 mm and 5 mm away from the PMMA mass in group B were (49.20±15.57)% and(17.75±9.28)% respectively, which was significantly different with that of the control group(P<0.05); the mean tumor cell apoptosis rates at 10 mm and 15 mm away from the PMMA mass in group B were not significantly different with those of the control group. Statistically significant differences in the mean tumor cell apoptosis rates determined at 1 mm, 5 mm and 10 mm away from the PMMA mass existed between group A and group B(P<0.001). Conclusion PMMA can promote the apoptosis of tumor cells, properly increasing the injected amount of PMMA can enlarge the extent of tumor cell apoptosis.

Objective To investigate the effect of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) on proliferation of colony forming unit T-lymphocyte (CFU -TL)and its interference methods. Methods Normal CFU - TL culture was used as blank control. Normal CFU- TL culture system plus inactivated HCMV fluid as inactivated HCMV control. The dilution of 1:10,1:100,1:1000 were added into CFU -TL colonies culture system directly as infected group. Objective To increase externally-assigned response, improve energy response of CR39 and develop positive fast/thermal neutron personal dosimeter applicable for occupational exposure in oil and gas field logging by using pre-recoil layer.Methods The externally-assigned response of CR39 detector was improved through increasing the track density by using the α particle induced by the reaction of 10B(n,α) 7Li with the BN as pre-recoil layer, and the increase was vilified by using both Monte-Carlo simulation and experiment exposed by standard neutron source.Results Fast/thermal neutron personal dosimeter's neutron flux sensitivity and neutron dose equivalent sensitivity were 3.46 × 10-4 track per 0.013 and 52.8 mSv.According to theoretical derivation and experiment of standard 241 Am-Be neutron source, detecting efficiency and energy response of CR39 were effectively improved, and quantitative measurement of dose contributed by thermal neutron was realized.Conclusions CR39 fast/thermal neutron personal dosimeter of high sensitivity is applicable to oil and gas field logging environment and of potential development.

OBJECTIVETo study the rehabilitation effects ergometry on COPD patients.

METHODSThirty COPD out-patients in our Hospital were randomly divided into 2 groups. Rehabilitation group, 15 patients, performed leg ergometry exercise of 80% peak Watt x 30min/d x 3d/w x 12w. Another 15 patients were control group without exercise. All patients received conventional therapy. Pulmonary function testing (PFT), cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), arterial blood gas analysis (ABG), Borg and CAT sores were done at both baseline and 12 w.

RESULTSThere was no statistically difference in lung function testing, blood gas analysis and cardiopulmonary exercise test when pre- exercises between 2 sub-groups. Objective To evaluate the accuracy and safety of pedicle-scope assisted pedicle screw fixation and percutaneous pedicle screw fixation for treating lumbar degenerative disease(LDD).Methods Thirty cases of LDD treated by mini-invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion(TLIF) under microscope plus percutaneous pedicle screw fixation with fluoroscopy or pedicle-scope of lumbar spine from December 2013 to September 2015 were selected and divide into the percutaneous group and pediclescope group,15 cases in each group.The operative duration,intraoperative blood loss volume,hospital stay and complications were compared between the two groups.The clinical effects were assessed with visual analogue scale(VAS) and Oswestry disability index(ODI).The plain radiography,dynamic radiology and lumbar magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) and computed tomography (CT) were re-examined after operation for assessing the screw location and fusion rate.Results Eighty-four screws were placed in the percutaneous group and 70 screws in the pedicle-scope group.In the percutaneous group and pedicle-scope group,the mean intraoperative blood loss volume,mean operative duration,average times of C-arm fluoroscopy,mean length of hospital stay,mean time of off-bed and complication occurrence rate were measured,and the differences were not statistically significant (P＞ 0.05).In 6-month follow up,the VAS score and ODI score in the two groups were significantly improved compared with before operation(P＜0.01);the VAS score and ODI score were(2.50 ± 1.30) and (50.00-±-3.50) in pediclescope group,(3.00± 1.50) and (58.00 ±4.50) in percutaneous group,respectivehy,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05);the improvement rates of clinical symptoms in the percutaneous group and pedicle-scope group were 73.33 ％ and 80.00 ％ respectively.The imaging reexamination showed that the placed screw location was good and lesion segment fusion was good without screw loosening.The location of 3 screws in the percutaneous group was deviated and adjusted by the second operation.Conclusion The accuracy and safety of pedicle-scope assisted screw placing for treating LDD are higher than those of conventional percutaneous pedicle screw fixation,moreover the operative time is shorter with less intraoperative bleeding.
