Objective To observe the influence of individualized health eduction on the metabolic index in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and thus explore the effective measures of altering life style of patients. Methods The health education plan was made by nurses specialized in diabetes mellitus in 58 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in a manner of one nurse to one patient.Metabolic indexes such as BMI,FPG,2hPG and HbAlc were observed after the execution of the plan. Results BMI,FPG,2hPG and HbAlc were all loweled 6 months and 12 months after the execution of the plan compared with those baseline values of these indexes, and more than 90% patients could persist in the dietary and physical treatment. Conclusions Individualized health education can alter the metabofic indexes of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus better. The way of one to one can enhance the effectiveness of the education, make the patients culture good life style by themselves and thus delay the occurrence and development of chronic complications associated with diabetes mellitus.

Objective To explore the effect of celecoxib on proliferation and apoptosis of the glioma cells. Methods The glioma cell U251 was used and disposed with different densities of celecoxib (0 μmol/L, 10 μmol/L, 20 μmol/L, 40 μmol/L and 80 μmol/L) for 24 h, 48h and 72 h. The methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay was used to detect the tumor cell proliferation and flow cytometry was used to detect the tumor cell apoptosis rate. Results The Glioma U251 cells proliferation were significantly decreased with the increase of density of celecoxib in vitro, and there was significant difference in the inhibited rate in different density and different time (P<0.05). The apoptosis rate was higher in the density of 80 μmol/L (17.86%) than in that of 0 μmol/L (11.23%) (P<0.05). Conclusion Celecoxib can inhabit the proliferation of glioma U251 cells, and promote the apoptosis especially with the density of 80 μmol/L.

Objective To testify the screening function of stachyose on soil bacteria by investigating the bacterial culture in ammonium stachyose medium. Methods The turbidimetry was used to determine the absorbance of microbial suspension at 600 nm per 2 h under the same initial concentration of the microbial suspension and to draw their growth curves. Results Most of soil bacteria utilized stachyose ineffectively, while only a few of them grown well in ammonium stachyose medium. Conclusion Since the major soil bacteria can not take stachyose fully as their energy resources, the species and quantity of rhizobacteria may decrease largely and only a few that utilized stachyose better can develop vigorously. Those rhizobateria with better utilization of stachyose may multiply so rapidly as potential ones in the rhizosphere of Rehmannia glutinosa that the disequilibrium of soil microorganism appears.

AIM: To study the effect of integrin ?2 on adhesion of SK-N-SH neuroblastoma cells to collagen. METHODS: Adhesion of the SK-N-SH cells to immobilized collagen was tested with various concentration of Mg~ 2+ , Ca~ 2+ and with 10 ?g/L anti-?2 monoclonal antibody (mAb) 6F1. A_ 570 was detected as adhesion cell numbers. RESULTS: Mg~ 2+ -dependent adhesion of SK-N-SH cells to type I collagen was increased significantly, with peak adhesion at concentration of 1 mmol/L Mg~ 2+ . A_ 570 with or without Mg~ 2+ was 0.59?0.03 and 0.25?0.01 respectively (P

Objective To compare the anthelmintic effect of albendazole with that of triclabendazole against Fasciola giganti-ca. Methods Two patients infected with Fasciola gigantica were investigated, and one was administered with albendazole orally (200 mg,twice per day for 5 days)and another was administered with triclabendazole[10 mg/(kg?d)for 2 days]. Their total fe-ces were collected daily during the period of whole therapy, and the eggs of the parasite were collected by using the nylon bag method, and incubated at 28℃. Results The parasite eggs were detected from the first patient’s dejecta on the 1st,2nd and 5th day after the end of the treatment, and no miracidiums hatched out as well as no eggs developed during the period of 25 days of the incubation. Meanwhile, her body temperature fluctuated between 37.4℃and 38.3℃,and she still complained bellyache. For the other invalid, the eggs were not detected on the 2nd and 5th day after the end of the treatment. However, the eggs before and dur-ing the treatment developed the miracidiums of Fasciola gigantica on the 13th day after the incubation, but the eggs collected from the 1st day after the termination of the therapy did not develop and no miracidiums hatched out. At the same time, the signs and symptoms of the patient vanished after the 4th day of the end of the therapy. Conclusions Albendazole has no obvious insecticid-al activity on adult Fasciola gigantica in the short term, but may affect the development of eggs. Triclabendazole has the anthelmin-tic effect on the adults as well as eggs of Fasciola gigantica. In addition, triclabendazole has the characteristics of well curative ef-fect,short course of treatment, and no obvious side effects.

Objective To explore the imaging characteristics of neurologic complications associated with the enterovirus 71 ( EV71 ) epidemic by analyzing 25 cases and reviewing the literature. Methods Twenty-five cases of hand-foot-mouth disease with neurologic complications during the recent EV71 outbreaks of Hainan province were studied for the clinical features and imaging findings, and literature were reviewed. Results In 5 cases, acute flaccid paralysis associated with EV71-infected hand-foot-mouth disease was related to the linear high signal in the spinal cord on sagittal images. Two cases showed symmetrical, welldefined hyperintense lesions in the spinal cord on T2WI transverse. Strong enhancement of the ventral horns and root was seen on the contrast-enhanced axial T1WI. In brainstem encephalitis, all lesions presented with significant hyperintensity on T2WI and hypointense on T1WI in the posterior portions of the medulla oblongata, midbrain, and pons. The manifestations of aseptic meningitis (AM) on MRI have no characteristics, but subdural effusion, meningeal enhancement and hydrocephalus can be the indirect signs of AM. Conclusions MRI is an effective method to investigate neurologic complications associated with the EV71 epidemic. Posterior portions of the medulla oblongata and pons, bilateral ventral horns of spinal involvement are characteristic findings of enteroviral encephalomyelitis.
