Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with high morbidity and mortality has become a major public health problem.Health education can improve the quality of life in patients with COPD, and reduce the number of exacerbations and cost due to repeated hospitalizations. There is no unified conclusion in content, manner, time for health education. There are large number of patients with COPD in China. Patients are generally poorly aware of the disease, and need various content and form of education, which can't meet for lack of knowledge and less focus on health education of medical workers. Many new progresses are emerging, such as the commonwealth of education, integrity and improvement of education, and enhancement of the educators.

Objective To explore the significance of health education for patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in community-based rehabilitation based on the previous research. Methods 46 patients with stable COPD recruited in Implementation and Management of COPD Community Rehabilitation Program (23 patients from the intervention group and 23 from the control group) were followed up with telephone twice in October 2013 and January 2014, with the Bristol COPD Knowledge Questionnaire (BCKQ), modified Borg Scale, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) and COPD Assessment Test (CAT). Individual health education was given once in the first follow-up in October 2013. Results In the follow-up in October 2013, scores of each assessment were worse in the intervention group (P<0.05). There was no longer statistical significance between the intervention group and the control group (P>0.05) in all the assessments except the mental status (SAS, SDS). But the cases with higher education level in the intervention group were not worse too much (P>0.05). In the follow-up in January 2014, the scores of each assessment improved in the intervention group (P< 0.01) and the control group (P<0.05). There was statistical significance between the intervention group and the control group again in the scores of BCKQ, modified Borg Scale and CAT (P<0.05). Conclusion The benefit from community-based rehabilitation can be reversible for patients with stable COPD. Health education with telephone in follow-up can improve the patients' awareness of disease, reduce dyspnea, and improve their mental status and quality of life.

To study the name of Wenyujin Rhizoma Concisum and Film Turmeric by literature research methods provide the basis for correct application of Cuba in modern clinical application. Wenyujin Rhizoma Concisum and Film Turmeric often called each other mutual generation and used as the same kind of medicine in the ancient prescriptions books. They were often recorded and stated as the same species of Curcumae Longae Rhizoma. Wenyujin Rhizoma Concisum and Curcumae Longae Rhizoma also often called each other mutual generation in the ancient prescriptions books and used as the same kind of medicine. Wenyujin Rhizoma Concisum was often recorded and stated under the Curcumae Longae Rhizoma articles in the ancient materia medica literatures. Ancient literatures on Wenyujin Rhizoma Concisum records were almost the same, the modern literatures on the records of the sources of Wenyujin Rhizoma Concisum were inconsistency. Inconsistency of Wenyujin Rhizoma Concisum source records in modern literatures was related to the changes of the modern records on source records about Curcumae Longae Rhizoma, Root-tuber of Aromatic Curcumae Longae Rhizoma and Zedoray. The author thinks that Wenyujin Rhizoma Concisum is the ancient Film Turmeric which referes to the same medicine as Curcumae Longae Rhizoma. The source of it just as the Curcumae Longae Rhizoma is not only one kind. Wenyujin Rhizoma Concisum and Curcumae Longae Rhizoma have been recorded as two medicines at the present, and the source of them simply referes to the original plant Curcuma wenyujin. When using ancient prescriptions, we need to understand the changes that Curcumae Longae Rhizoma and Wenyujin Rhizoma Concisum are the same in ancient but different today in order to choose medicine correctly in the clinical.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the antibacterial activity of decoction of Radix glycyrrhizae against Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) in vitro.
METHODSThe decoction of Radix glycyrrhizae was prepared by boiling particles of Radix glycyrrhizae, the diameter was 0.2-3.2 mm. In distilled water and filtered, the filtrate was collected for study. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) of the decoction against S. mutans were detected using double dilution. The effect of decoction on growth and acidogenic profile of S. mutans were investigated by detecting the Abs of bacteria suspension and the pH value of medium at definite time intervals(0, 3, 7, 12, 23, 40 h) during cultured.
RESULTSThe MIC determined for decoction was 50 mg x mL(-1) and there was no bactericidal effect when concentration of decoction lower than 100 mg x mL(-1). The decoction inhibitted multiplication of bacteria significantly and the effects became stronger with concentration increasing. The decoction also inhibitted S. mutans producing acid and the effect became stronger with concentration increasing. The most efficient inhibition were observed when incubated 12 hours.
CONCLUSIONThe decoction of Radix glycyrrhizae can inhibite the growth and acid-production of S. mutans in vitro.

OBJECTIVETo establish an efficient and stable method for protein extraction of Streptococcus mutans.
METHODSThe collected bacteria were treated by freeze-thaw and ultrasonic (method 1), ultrasonic (method 2), boiling (method 3), boiling and ultrasonic (method 4), respectively. The index such as state of bacteria broken, concentration of extracted protein and SDS-PAGE of protein were employed to evaluate the effects of above four methods.
RESULTSBeside the method 3, the other three methods could break the bacteria effectively, of which ultrasonic was the key factor. The pattern of SDS-PAGE which treated by method 1, method 2 and method 4 was almost same, but method 1 resulted in the best abundance. There was significantly difference among the four protein concentration extracted by four methods (P < 0.05). All methods exhibited good stability and reproducibility.
CONCLUSIONMethod of freeze-thaw and ultrasonic resulted in an efficient proteins extraction of Streptococcus mutans which demonstrated good stability and reproducibility and easy to handle.
