Objective To assess the usefulness of a computer-aided detection(CAD)system on detecting the pulmonary nodules in digital chest radiography. Methods Three hundred and twenty-eight digital chest radiographies along with corresponding chest computed tomography were selected for this study. Two senior chest radiologists interpreted these cases using the CAD system and marked the locations and sizes of all nodules with consensus, which were stored in a computer system as Gold Standard to evaluate the performance of the CAD system.Eight radiologists of various experience read these selected cases without and with the aid of CAD system and their results were stored in a computer system. The radiologists' performance was evaluated by using the receiver operating characteristic analysis.Comparison is made regarding the difference in Az values when CAD was not used versus when CAD was used by using the paired-samples t test. Results For small nodules, the sensitivity of this computer system used by the two senior chest radiologists in 100 digital radiographs was 78.1%(118.0/151).Without and with the assistance of CAD system, the nodule detection sensitivity of the radiology residents was 62.4% (94.2/151),77.4%(116.8/151)respectively,and the area under the curve of radiology residents was 0.769,0.836 respectively.Statistical analysis showed there was statistically significant difference between interpretation without and with the CAD system(P0.05).Conclusions This CAD system can help to enhance the radiologists' ability to detect small pulmonary nodules. This is especially helpful for radiology residents.
2. Histological assessment of canine acute intestinal injury model induced by radiation
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2019;44(2):107-112
Objective To evaluate acute intestinal injury models induced by radiation through histological analysis. Methods A total of 41 Beagle canines were randomized into control group (n=8) and 11 radiation groups (at dose of 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 30Gy, 3 each group). Animals were given single-dose from X-ray delivered at dose rates of 250cGy/min using tridimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) on the abdomen, followed by histological analysis on the intestine. Results We successfully developed canine acute intestinal injury model using irradiation. The intestinal mucosal injury showed a dose-dependent manner. The greater radiation dose was received, the more severe pathological mucosal injury observed. For dogs that received 8Gy, their small intestine exhibited a slight grade of apoptosis and partial loss of the intestinal villi in the epithelial cells. For dogs that received moderate irradiation dose of 10-14Gy, we observed partially damaged mucosa, glandular dilatation, inflammatory infiltration, vascular congestion, and hemorrhage in their intestine tissue. For dogs that received the high dose of 16-30Gy, their intestine histologic changes included diffuse intestinal necrosis, erosions or exfoliation, as well as extensive congestion and bleeding. Conclusions A canine model of acute intestinal injury induced by irradiation in a dose-dependent manner was successfully established. This model would pave the foundation for better irradiation model development and be beneficial to develop novel and effective radioprotective agents.

Journal of Zhejiang University. Science. B 2005;6(5):319-323
Synergetic effects for p-nitrophenol degradation were observed in the ozonation with ultrasonic enhancement. The enhancements of removal rate for p-nitrophenol and TOC were around 116% and 294% respectively in comparison with the individual ultrasound and ozonation systems. The synergetic phenomenon is attributed to two physicochemical mechanisms: (1) Ultrasound decomposes ozone causing augmentation of the activity of free radicals; (2) Ultrasonic wave increased the concentration of O(3) in solution because of ultrasonic dispersion.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the three-dimensional reconstruction methods of the portal vein using 64-slice spiral CT data and the anatomical variation of the portal vein.
METHODSThree-dimensional reconstruction of the portal vein was performed using Mimics software based on the 64-slice spiral CT data of 64 cases. Each model of the portal vein and its branches was evaluated according to the presentation rate, depiction quality and anatomic variation.
RESULTSThe reconstructed model showed a depiction rates of 100% for the 4-grade branches of the portal vein. The stem of the portal vein and the left and right branches of the level III or above were all displayed, but in 2 cases the superior mesenteric vein and in 1 case the spleen vein was displayed only to the level IV. Of the 64 cases, 50 (78.1%) had normal portal vein and 14 (21.9%) showed anatomical variations.
CONCLUSIONThe 3D model vividly mimics the anatomic variations of the portal vein to provide valuable information for surgical plans.

A reasonable method for the quality control of tablets of Ginkgo biloba leaves was established in this paper. The total flavonol glycosides and terpene lactones of G. biloba tablets were quantified by HPLC. Totally, 16 batches of the commercially available tablets of G. biloba leaves were determined. Among of them, 2 batches were unqualified in the content of total flavonol glycosides, and 3 batches were unqualified in the content of terpene lactones. A validated HPLC fingerprint method was established to evaluate the commercially available tablets of G. biloba leaves with the assistance of LC-MS. Sixteen batches showed the similarity of 0.763-0.989. There were 31 fingerprint chromatogram peaks were identified as flavonoids compositions by LC-MS. This provides a research idea for the quality control of tablets of G. biloba leaves.
