Chinese Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases 2011;04(4):227-230
ObjectiveTo identify the differences in clinicopathological features between HBeAg-positive and HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B (CHB). MethodsA total of 665 CHB patients who were admitted to Ningbo No. 2 Hospital during June 2002 and January 2010 were enrolled, in which 428 were HBeAg-positive and 237 were HBeAg-negative. HBV DNA loads, live histological inflammation grades and fibrosis stages were compared between two groups. SPSS 1 1. 5 was used for statistical analysis. For measurement data, t (for normal distribution) or Mann-Whitney U (for skew distribution) was performed; for enumeration data, Chi-square test was performed; and Pearson correlation analysis was conducted. ResultsLiver inflammatory grade and fibrosis staging in HBeAg-negative CHB patients were more severe than those in HBeAg-positive patients (x2 = 7.92 and 10.35, P < 0. 01 ). The ratio of serum HBV DNA levels < 3, ≥3- < 5 log10 copies/mL in HBeAg-negative CHB patients were significant higher than those in HBeAg-positive patients (x2 = 105.16 and 36.92 ,P <0.01 ) ; and the ratio of HBV DNA ≥7 log10 copies/mL in HBeAg-negative group was lower than that in HBeAg-positive group (x2 = 110. 18, P <0. 01 ). With the rising of serum HBV DNA levels, liver inflammatory grade and fibrosis staging in HBeAg-positive patients had a descending tendency (r =-0. 287 and-0. 224, P <0.01 ), while those in the HBeAg-negative group were ascending (r = 0. 360 and 0. 303, P < 0. 01 ). ConclusionCompared with HBeAg-positive CHB patients, liver inflammation and tissue damage in HBeAg-negative patients are more severe, which need close monitoring.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of laparoscopic first-stage Fowler-Stephens for high cryptorchidism. Methods Seven children with high cryptorchidism (10 testes) were enrolled in this study. After detecting the testicles under a laparoscope, we dissected the spermatic cord vessels. Then, the spermatic duct was separated, and the gubernaculum testis was retained. Afterwards, the first-stage orchidopexy was performed laparoscopically. Results Nine of the 10 testes were successfully placed into the scrotum by first-stage Fowler-Stephens. In one patient who had bilateral cryptorchidism, the left testis was placed into the scrotum at the second stage operation. The seven patients were followed up for 6-24 months (mean, 14 months). None of them had retraction or atrophy of the testis. Conclusions Laparoscopic first-stage Fowler-Stephens is effective for high cryptorchidism. The procedure is worth being widely used.

PurposeTo evaluate the value of dual-source CT angiography (DSCTA) in the diagnosis of carotid atherosclerosis, and to explore the relationship between carotid atherosclerosis and diabetes mellitus (DM).Materials and Methods 145 patients with ischemic stroke were divided into DM group (n=80) and non-DM group (n=65). All patients underwent DSCTA. The location and characteristic of carotid atherosclerosis were analyzed using curve planE reconstruction (CPR), maximum intensity projection (MIP), multi-plane reformation (MPR) and volume rendering (VR). The differences between two groups were analyzed. Results Compared with non-DM group, the body mass index and high blood cholesterol were higher in DM group (t=6.197,P<0.05;χ2=8.372,P<0.01). The incidence of carotid atherosclerosis and vulnerable plaques were also higher in DM group than non-DM group (χ2=11.617 and 9.388,P<0.01). There was no significant difference between DM group and non-DM group in the location of carotid atherosclerosis (χ2=0.160, 0.509, 0.419 and 0.016,P>0.05). Carotid atherosclerosis was more common in carotid bifurcation and carotid artery siphon. Conclusion DSCTA can demonstrate the location and characteristics of carotid atherosclerosis in ischemic stroke patients with diabetes mellitus. Diabetes is a risk factor for the formation of carotid atherosclerosis, especially vulnerable plaques.

Chinese Journal of Hospital Administration 2011;27(8):561-566
A total of 1140 medical workers from 8 public hospitals of secondary and tertiary levels in Anhui were surveyed with questionnaire. Their knowledge of the reform, acknowledgement of key points of the reform, desire of participating in the reform and other factors that may influence the reform were investigated as categorized by their hospital, position, title and age. This study comes up with such recommendations as reinforcing communications on public hospital reform, reforming the compensation mechanism to clarify government responsibilities, probing into a better model for multi-institution practice of certified physicians, and encouraging private capital to participate in medical service while ensuring its non-profit nature, and improving the performance appraisal mechanism to ensure incentives of medical workers. These recommendations aim to enable the health administrators in their decision making.

Microbiology 2008;0(09):-
Glucose was transported by the large number of hexose transporters in yeast cells. There were 18 hexose transporter genes had been identified in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. However,as an excellent expression system, there was no information of these genes had been reported in Pichia pastoris. Based on high homologous recombination efficiency in yeast,we chose G418 resistance for screening,200 bp were cloned from the up and down sequences of HXT1 ORF respectively, then ligated to the 5′ and 3′ end of G418 resis-tance gene for recombination. After electroporation of GS115 spheroplast and screened through different G418 concentration plates, finally we obtained one HXT1 gene deletion mutant named GS115?HXT1. The growth rate and glucose consumption of this mutant were both lower than the wide type.
