Objective To study the effects of hypertonic sodium chloride hydroxyethyl starch(HSH), blood flow of microcirculation (IMMBF) in Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats. Methods Sixty healthy SD rats were included in the study, 6 of which were used as normal control and their IMMBF was regarded as the baseline. Fifty-four rats were subjected to hemorrhagic shock with BP of 40mmHg for 60min, Among these 54 rats, IMMBF was measured in 6, without resuscitation. In 24 shock rats, HSH was given in a dose of 6ml/kg as the HSH group, and in 24 shock rats lactated Ringer solution (RL) was given in a volume twice of volume of blood loss as the RL group. At 90, 120, 180 and 300 minutes after shock, their IMMBF was measured, and specimens of their intestinal wall were harvested for pathological examination. Results The results showed that IMMBF baseline level of SD rats was 110.67?11.63mV. It was decreased to 25.78?10.77mV after shock for 60 minutes. The IMMBF in HSH group was 103.22?7.96, 92.50?14.47, 86.17?10.35 and 122.33?8.30mV at the 4 time points, respectively, the IMMBF in RL group was 61.89?6.41, 64.95?12.94, 63.42?6.46 and 86.50?13.51mV, respectively the difference between the two groups at every time point was significant with P value

Objective To study the impact of F000 on cited papers in medical journals. Methods Papers in the 4 years after they were published from 2006 to 2008 that were recommended by F1000 served as No. 1 control group, papers in the 4 years after they were published from 2006 to 2008 that were not recommended by F1000 served as No. 2 control group, Web of Science-covered papers in the 1-6 years after they were published from 2006 to 2008 served as group 3. The cited papers in group 3 were calculated. The total cited papers in the first 3 years and the second 3 years after they were published were analyzed with SPSS 11. 0 and identified by paired t test. Results The number of cited papers reached its peak in the 4th year after they were published. The number of cited papers reached its peak in the third year after they were published in No. 1 and No. 2 control groups. Paired t test showed no significant difference in the number of cited papers in group 3 from that in No. 1 and No. 2 control groups. How-ever, the number of cited papers and that of total cited paers in group 3 were significantly different from those in No. 1 and No. 2 control groups. Conclusion F1000 can significantly influence the citation behaviors in medical journals.

Objective: To reconstruct three dimension (3D) model of a rtificial tooth and to establish standardized 3D artificial teeth graphic datab ase. Methods: Artificial teeth were incised with CGI autom atic cross section scanning instrument, then data points were picked up from e ach parallel layer contour of incised tooth, and 3D stereo models of artificia l tooth were retrieved using 3D reconstruction techniques. Results: 3D graphic models of 28 artificial teeth were established. The models may represent the graphic feature of the teeth. Conclusion: The present technic is feasible in the establishment of 3D graphic models of artificial tooth.

Objective To investigate the preoperative management and the clinical effeciency of Lichtenstein tension-free hernioplasty in adult patients with inguinal incarcerated hernia. Methods Clinical data of 86 patients with inguinal incarcerated hernia were analyzed retrospectively.Hernia was repaired with Lichtenstein tension free after reposition. Results There were 59 male patients and 27 female patients with median age of (63 ± 18) years. There were 8 patients with liver cirrhosis. The operation was performed successfully in all patients.Segmental bowel resection with end-to-end anastomosis was performed in 38 emergency cases.Operative time was 20-120 min, with an average time of 54 min.The postoperative hospitalization was 5-17 d,with an average of 8 d.There were 7 cases of skin ecchymosis at the scrotum, there were no intestinal perforation, hepatic encephalopathy and upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage after operation. In early series of 24 cases without drainage tube left in place, there were 10 cases of fat liquefaction,10 cases of hydrops of hernial sac,6 cases of seroma and 3 cases of wound infection after operation. After 12 to 48 months of follow-up,there was no mortality after 2 years,no hernia recurrence. Conclusions Tension free repair in the treatment of incarcerated inguinal hernia is safe and feasible.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effects of aminoguanidine(AG) on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion damage in rats. Methods The intravascular thread models with 2 h of occlusion and 22 h of reperfusion were made in the rats. The brain infarction size and the degree of blood brain barrier(BBB) disruption in the ischemic regions were evaluated by staining with 2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride and observing with Evans blue fluorescence microscope.HE staining was utilized for observing neutrophil infiltration. Results The brain infarction(volume,) the area of BBB disruption and the degree of neutrophil infiltration were dramatically decreased in the treatment group as compared to the control group(P

Objective To explore the alterations of protein phosphatase-2A (PP-2A) in lymphocytes in mild cognition impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD).Methods The activity PP-2A of was measured by ~(32)p liquid seintillography for incorporated radioactivity in control group(n=11) , the MCI group(n=11),and the AD group(n=11).The expression of PP-2A was determined by Western blot. Results In the control group, the activity of PP-2A (1.01?0.09) and the expression of PP-2A (0.96?0.07) were high while in the MCI group, the activity of PP-2A (0.71?0.12) and the expression of PP-2A (0.80?0.05) were decreased (both P

Objective To evaluate the protective effect of polysaccharide nucleic acid fraction of bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG-PSN) against atopic dermatitis (AD) in Nc/Nga mice, and to explore its possible mechanism. Methods Sixteen Nc/Nga mice were classified into normal control group (n =4),low-concentration BCG-PSN group (n=5) and high-concentration BCG-PSN group (n =7) to be subcutaneously injected with sodium chloride physiological solution,BCG-PSN of 0.1 mg/kg and 0.5 mg/kg respectively,at 1,8,15 and 22 days of age.Dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) was repeatedly and topically applied to these Nc/Nga mice to induce AD-like lesions at 49 days of age.The preventive effect of BCG-PSN against AD was evaluated by dermatitis scores, scratching frequency, histopathological manifestations and immunological parameters (including IgE,i nterleukin (IL)-4 and-12,and interferon (IFN)-γ).Results Repeated injection of BCG-PSN within 4 weeks after birth significantly decreased the severity of DNCB-induced AD-like lesions, dermatitis scores and scratching behavior in Nc/Nga mice. There was no statistical difference in scratching frequency between the high-and low-concentration BCG-PSN groups.BCG-PSN treatment reduced the plasma level of IgE in Nc/Nga mice in a dose-dependent manner.BCG-PSN at 0.5 mg/kg increased the number of cells secreting IFN-γ in skin lesions of mice. Both doses of BCG-PSN down-regulated IL-4 level, but up-regulated IL-12 level in the culture supernatant of spleen mononuclear cells from mice. Conclusion Early injection of BCG-PSN could protect Nc/Nga mice against dermatitis by promoting the proliferation of IFN-γ-secreting cells, increasing the synthesis of IL-12,and reducing the levels of IL-4 and IgE.
