Specialists in the south of the five Ridges LUO Zhi-yuan think that upper-jiao syndrome of bubonic plague appears in the second and third days,middle-jiao syndrome in the period of the third to the sixth days, and lower-jiao syndrome appears at the seventh day.Upper-jiao syndrome of bubonic plague is the most complicated, including the severe syndrome, the critical syndrome, the deadly syndrome. They summarize the six symptoms and signs in middle-jiao of bubonic plague, including "extreme heat and thirst, black and prickly tongue, abdominal distention and pain, stercoroma and delirium, heat accumulation with watery diarrhea, cold feeling of the whole body and hidden pulse",and the four symptoms and signs in middle-jiao,including "pain, distention, stercoroma, heat accumulation with watery diarrhea".They also pointed out that preserving body fluid is key for treating lower-jiao syndrome of bubonic plague.

OBJECTIVE:To establish an HPLC method for determination of triamcinolone acetonide(TA), diphenhydramine hydrochloride(DH) and miconazole nitrate(MN) in compound miconazole nitrate cream(MNC). METHODS: The determination was performed on Hypersil ODS2. The mobile phase consisted of methanol-acetonitrile-0.5% ammonium acetate (45∶35∶20) at a flow rate of 1.0 mL?min-1. The UV detection wavelength was 234 nm; the column temperature was 40 ℃ and the inject volume was 20 ?L. RESULTS: The linear ranges for MN, TA and DH were 0.16~0.64 (r=0.999 8), 0.02~0.06 (r=0.999 9) and 0.08~0.24 (r=0.999 2) mg?L-1 respectively, with their average recoveries at 100.0%, 99.6% and 100.7%, RSD at 1.2%, 0.8% and 0.9%(n=3) respectively. CONCLUSION: The HPLC method can be used for the simultaneous determination of the three constituents in CMNC.
5.Baculoviruses as Vectors in Mammalian Cells

Virologica Sinica 2007;22(2):148-157
The Baculoviridae are a large family of enveloped DNA viruses exclusively pathogenic to arthropods. Baculoviruses have been extensively used in insect cell-based recombinant protein expression system and as biological pesticides. They have been deomostrated to be safe to mammals, birds and fish. Recently, baculoviruses has been shown to transduce different mammalian cells in spite of the fact that they cannot replicate in mammalian cells (11, 73, 76). This has resulted in the development of baculoviruses as mammalian expression systems and even as vestors for gene therapy.

Objective To observe the effects of early rehabilitation training on endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs),stromal cell-derived factor alpha 1 (SDF-lα) and motor function recovery in hemiplegic patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods Fifty hemiplegic patients after a first acute cerebral infarction were randomly divided into a control group (n =25) and an experimental group (n =25).Both groups of patients were given routine drug therapy, while the experimental group also received early rehabilitation (within 48 hours of onset).EPCs and SDF-1α levels in peripheral blood were measured before and after one week of treatment, and Fugl-Meyer assessments and modified Barthel index scoring were conducted at admission and after three months of treatment. Results There was no difference between the 2 groups before the treatment. After a week of treatment, however, the EPC and SDF-1α values of both groups had increased, with those of the experimental group increasing significantly more than in the control group.Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that the increase in EPCs was positively correlated with the SDF-1α increment in the first week. After 3 months of treatment, the average FMA and MBI results of the experimental group were significantly better than those of the control group. Conclusion Early rehabilitation training can help to further improve the recovery of motor function for hemiplegic patients after acute cerebral infarction. This may be related to its effect in upregulating the expression of SDF-1α,thus contributing to the mobilization of EPCs in the bone marrow.
