Objective To study positron yield quantitatively in different phantoms by means of PET imaging after high energy photon irradiation, and to investigate the feasibility of bio-dose verification by PET in high energy photon radiotherapy. Methods The phantoms (hydrogel,HDPE,inhomogeneous phantom) were scanned with PET 1 min later after exposure to 2,4,6,8 Gy dose with/using 25 and 50 MV photon irradiation. The positron account rates were recorded every minute in PET scanning process and then fitted to get the half-lives of yielded nuclides.Positron distribution in each phantom was compared with dose distribution to investigate the relationship between positron activity and dose delivered. Results The half-lives of nuclides yielded in hydrogel and HDPE were supposed to be 2.23 and 19.47 min, respectively by fitting results, which had negligible difference with half-lives of 11C (20.2 min) and 15O (2.08 min). The positron amounts induced by 50 MV photon in hydrogel and HDPE were 3.88 and 3.86 times that of 25 MV photon, and increased in proportion to dose delivered.Except for build-up region and cavity, activity distributions in depth and off-axis were similar to dose distribution. Conclusions The amount and distribution of positron induced by high energy photon are related to dose delivered, and it is feasible to do dose verification with PET imaging in high energy photon radiotherapy.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2014;34(8):833-836
The clinical efficacy of acupuncture and moxibustion for post-stroke constipation was systematically reviewed. By computerized and manual retrieval of clinical research literature regarding acupuncture and moxibustion for post-stroke constipation, the randomized control trials (RCTs) that met the inclusive criteria were collected. Cochrane systematic review method was used and Revmen 5.2 software was adopted to perform this Meta analysis. Totally 8 articles were included, involving 610 cases of post-stroke constipation. As a result, the total effective rate and cured rate of acupuncture and moxibustion for post-stroke constipation were significantly superior to those of the control group [total effective rate: OR = 2.10, 95% CI (1.25, 3.54), Z = 2.78, P = 0.005; cured rate: OR = 2.37, 95% CI (1.57, 3.58), Z = 4.10, P < 0.0001]. This result indicated that acupuncture was effective for post-stroke constipation and had some advantages compared with other therapies. But the quality of included RCTs was low, and high-quality, large-sample and multi-center RCTs were needed to perform further verification.

OBJECTIVE:
To explore the feasibility of detecting of Y-STR of fetal DNA in maternal plasma using Ion Torrent PGM™ System.
METHODS:
A total of 16 fetal DNA samples from maternal plasmas (8 cases from 38 weeks gestational age and 8 ones from 12 weeks) were prepared and a multiplex assay with 7 STR loci (DYS390, DYS391, DYS393, DYS438, DYS437, DYS456, DYS635) was designed for multiplex-PCR amplification. Using Ion Torrent PGM™ System, the results of Y-STR sequences and capillary electrophoresis were obtained and compared.
RESULTS:
Y-STR specific alleles were detected in the maternal plasma of all the pregnant women having male babies of second and third trimester, which were higher than that detected by capillary electrophoresis. Consistent Y-STR genotypes were observed between fetal DNA from maternal plasma and genomic DNA from the newborn babies.
CONCLUSION
Based on Ion Torrent PGM™ System, the prenatal Y-STR detection method may provide a high-sensitive and high-throughput choice for prenatal STR detection in forensic testing.

8.Atypical imaging demonstrations of solid-pseudopapillary tumor of pancreas
Chinese Journal of Clinical Medicine 2017;24(3):433-438
Objective:To retrospectively analyze the typical and atypical imaging features of solid-pseudopapillary tumor of pancreas (SPTP) in contrast with pathology. Methods:Multidetector CT (MDCT) and MR imaging (MRI) appearances of 33 cases with SPTP proven by histopathology, including tumor location, shape, size, capsule, cystic degeneration, hemorrhage, calcification and enhancement type, were retrospectively investigated and compared with their pathological findings. The correlation of pathologic demonstrations with the age and gender of patients and the tumor size were statistically evaluated. The differences of MDCT and MRI in displaying tumor capsule, cystic degeneration, hemorrhage, calcification, and enhancement type were statistically analyzed. Results:Among 33 cases of SPTP, there were 17 (51.5%) young (≤40 years old) females, 11 (33.3%) elderly (>40 years old) females and 5 (15.2%) males;there were 26 (78.8%) cases with large tumors (the biggest diameter >3.0 cm), and 7 (21.2%) with small tumors (the biggest diameter ≤3.0 cm).Young patients were more likely to develop cystic degeneration of tumors than elderly patients (P=0.030).The incidence rates of small tumors (P=0.015), false capsule (P=0.025), and cystic degeneration (P=0.002) of tumors in male patients were lower than those in female patients. The incidence rates of cystic degeneration (P=0.001), hemorrhage (P=0.002), and false capsule (P=0.029) in large tumors were higher than those in small tumors. There were no statistical differences between MDCT and MRI in demonstrational abilities of capsule, cystic degeneration and enhancement type.MRI was much superior to locate the hemorrhagic areas in tumors than MDCT (P=0.001), while MDCT was much superior to detect calcifications than MRI (P=0.028).Conclusions:Typical imaging demonstrations are often observed in the young female patients with SPTP, while atypical imaging demonstrations which mostly exhibit solid tumors and the progressive dynamic enhancement pattern from the periphery to the center are mostly observed in the male and elderly (>40 years old) female patients with SPTP.

BACKGROUNDStereotactic surgery has been used to treat heroin abstinence in China since 2000 by ablating the amygdaloid nucleus (AMY) and the nucleus accumbens (NAc), which also provides opportunity to identify the relationship between these nuclei and addiction. Our study aimed to explore the physiological and psychological effects of electrically stimulating the AMY and the NAc in heroin addicts after detoxification by observing changes of heart rate, arterial pressure and occurrence of euphoria similar to heroin induced euphoria.
METHODSA total of 70 heroin addicts after detoxification were recruited, and 61 of them were eligible to be given stereotactic surgery for heroin abstinence. The operation was carried out after determining the coordinates of all target nucleuses, and stimulation was performed at the AMY and the NAc solely or jointly. Heart rate, arterial pressure and occurrence of euphoria similar to heroin induced euphoria were recorded and analyzed.
RESULTSThe average heat rate was (66 ± 10) beats/min before electric stimulation, and significantly increased to (84 ± 14) beats/min during stimulation, and changed to (73 ± 12) beats/min 10 minutes after stimulation. There was a significant elevation of the average arterial pressure from 83 mmHg before stimulation to 98 mmHg during the stimulation, and it then decreased to 90 mmHg after stimulation. Forty-three of the 61 patients showed intense euphoria similar to heroin induced euphoria. The largest number (118/186) of euphoric responses occurred when the AMY and the NAc were stimulated at the same time. Odds ratio was 5.4 (95%CI: 2.4 - 11.9, P < 0.0001) to quantify the association. Results from a Logistic regression model showed a positive correlation between unilateral stimulation of either the AMY or NAC and induction of euphoria (OR > 1), especially when the left AMY or left NAc was stimulated (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSOur data are consistent with existing results that the AMY and the NAc are related to addiction. Different roles in drug dependence would be suggested according to the location of the AMY and NAc.

Background Corneal neovascularization ( CNV ) is a complication of many ocular surface diseases. It often worsen the pathological course.Effective therapy for CNV is still researching. Objective This study was to investigate the inhibitory effect of irradiation on CNV. Methods CNV models were established in 70 right eyes of 70 clean Wistar rats by corneal alkali burning. The models were randomized into β ray 10 Gy once irradiation group( 2 eyes),β ray 7 Gy multiple irradiation group( 17 eyes),β ray 10 Gy multiple irradiation group( 17 eyes),1% cyclosporin A ( CsA ) eye drops group ( 17 eyes) and model group ( 17 eyes),and 6 matched normal rats were used as normal controls. All treatments started from the first day of the corneal alkali burning.CNV length and area were measured under the slit lamp every day.Corneal samples and homogenate were prepared 3,5,7 days after corneal alkali burning. The expressions of bcl-2,bax,vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in rat corneas were detected by immunochemistry,VEGF proteins and VEGF mRNA were detected by Western blot and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR),respectively. Results Corneal ulceration was found in the βray 10 Gy once irradiation group and β ray 10 Gy multiple irradiation group.CNV length and area were much less in the β ray 7 Gy multiple irradiation group and 1% CsA eye drops group compared with the model group on the seventh day after experiment( length:q=14.40,24.20,P<0.01 ;area:q=17.80,14.00,P<0.01 ).Immunochemistry revealed that compared with the model group, expressions of bcl-2 and VEGF proteins were weaker, but the expression of bax protein was stronger in the β ray 7 Gy multiple irradiation group and 1% CsA eye drops group.RT-PCR showed that the expression of VEGF mRNA in cornea was lower in the β ray 10 Gy multiple irradiation group,β ray 7 Gy multiple irradiation group and 1% CsA eye drops group in comparison with that in model group, and the results from Western blot showed the same pattern as RT-PCR. Conclusions Low dose irradiation of 90Sr-90Y ophthalmic applicator inhibits CNV formation after alkali burn. The study provide a new understanding of the irradiation for the treatment of CNV.
