Aleutian mink disease parvovirus (AMDV) causes a persistent infection associated with immune complex disease, hypergammaglobulinemia, and high levels of antiviral antibodies. Despite the presence of an antibody, the virus is not cleared in vivo. Pre-existing antibodies may enhance viral infections, by Fc-receptor-mediated antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE), but the mechanism that underlies ADE has not been fully defined. Three models have been proposed, including: (1) interactions between antibody and FcR, complement C3 fragment and CR, or between C1q and C1qR, which promotes viral attachment to cells; (2) suppression of IFN-gamma-mediated host-cell antiviral gene expression by the upregulation of negative regulators of pathogen pattern recognition; and (3) the promotion of early IL-10 secretion. In addition, the role of cytokine IL-6 in ADE mediated disease development is discussed, to facilitate a better understanding of the pathogenesis of AMDV infection, as well as give insights into rational vaccine design approaches.

Chlorogenic acid displays several important roles in the therapeutic properties of many herbs, such as antioxidant activity, antibacterial, antiviral, scavenging free radicals and exciting central nervous system. Only about one-third of chlorogenic acid was absorbed in its prototype, therefore, its gut metabolites play a more important role in the therapeutic properties of chlorogenic acid. It is necessary to consider not only the bioactivities of chlorogenic acid but also its gut metabolites. This review focuses on the potential activities and mechanisms of chlorogenic acid and its gut metabolites on central nervous system diseases.

Chinese Journal of Nephrology 1997;0(06):-
Objective To analyze the pathological and clinical characteristics of patients with idiopathic IgA nephropathy accompanied by vasculitic/crescentic lesion (IgA-V/C). Methods Data of 222 patients diagnosed as idiopathic IgA nephropathy by renal biopsy, among them 87 cases with vasculitic/crescenlic (V/C)lesion, from our department in 2004 were analyzed retrospectively. Clinical and pathological data from patients with IgA-V/C were compared to those of non-IgA-V/C patients and of lupus nephritis (LN) patients with V/C lesion. Results Vasculitic/crescentic lesion was found in 39.19% (87/222) patients with idiopathic IgA nephropathy. And about( 14.08?12.75)% of the glomeruli was affected. It should be taken into account that there was no significant differences of clinical manifestations including blood pressure, urinary protein excretion between IgA-V/C group and non-IgA-V/C group .except serum creatinine(Scr)level which was significantly higher in IgA-V/C group. In addition, only 37.9% of IgA-V/C patients presented high Scr level, thus the lesion of V/C in idiopathic IgA nephropathy was easily overlooked. Patients with idiopathic IgA nephropathy were found to have higher percentage of glomerular sclerosis (64.86% vs 40.00%) and ratio of sclerostic glomeruli to total glomeruli [ (26.98 ?24.68)% vs (16.10 ?18.80)% ]as compared to LN group, which further predicated the progressing characteristics of IgA nephropathy. Conclusions Vasculitic/crescentic lesion is a quite common finding in idiopathic IgA nephropathy and often associated with no dramatically symptoms. It is possible for vasculitic/crescentic lesion to induce unmarked lose of nephron slowly and continually, so as to accelerate IgA nephropathy progression to end-stage renal failure.

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of arthroscope-assisted surgical technique in treating knee fractures and knee peripheral fractures. Methods From September 2000 to December 2005,there were 46 cases with knee or knee peripheral fractures,in whom artbroseope-assisted surgical technique was performed in 36 cases including 24 males and 12 females, with mean age of 30.5 years (18-52 years).Of 36 cases,26 cases with patella fractures were treated by internal fixation of tension band using cancellous bone screws, four with distal end femoral fractures by retrograde interlocking using intramedullary nail and six with fractures of tibial plateau and tibial condyle crista by internal fixation u- sing cancellous bone screws. Results The mean hospitalization was eight days.A follow up for 3-36 months(average 14 months)in 36 cases showed fracture healing.Of 36 cases,32 cases regained full knee range of motion, four left with terminal flexion, with mean loss of 15?,and had thigh circumference (10 cm above knee)1.1 cm(range 0.6-2.0 cm)shorter than health side and two had slight pain in the knee joint.Lysholm knee joint function score was 86.5+7.6 for patellar fractures, tibial plateau frac- tures and condylar crista fractures. Conclusion As for knee or knee peripheral fractures,arthroscope- assisted surgical technique can provide fine monitoring, decrease trauma and complications, fixate inter- nally and help early ground exercise.
