Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2013;31(10):905-907
Public Health Ophthalmology is a population-,region-or country-based as a whole object, and is committed to improving the eye health of the whole population.Epidemiological investigation of the eye was named to the region from a single disease to variation of diseases from cross-sectional survey to a longitudinal cohort study.Epidemiological investigations is the most important way which can reflect the pathogenic factors for public health policy-making,early diagnosis and prevention and treatment of eye disease, and Research to Prevent Blindness.Imaging Diagnosis, quality control, improve the reliability of the epidemiological investigation, and to strengthen the study of disease, race, and molecular levels and create a unique epidemiological study.

Objective To study the effects of bone marrow mononuclear cells (MNCs) transplantation on left ventricular (LV) remodeling and its potential mechanism in swine myocardial infarction models. Methods The left anterior descending coronary arteries of swines were obstructed by balloon to create myocardial infarction models. Three weeks later, MNCs(n= 7)or PBS(n=5) were injected into the infarction related coronary arteries through balloon catheter. The cardiac function were measured by echocardiography and ventriculargraphy. Collagen amount was also assessed at 4 weeks after transplantation. Results At 4 weeks after transplantation, LV end-diastolic dimension decreased in the BM-MNC group than before (40.40?4.51 mm vs. 45.88?4.15 mm, P=0.026), but increased in the control group (48.50?9.31 mm vs. 42.40?7.29 mm, P=0.328). Left ventricular function was improved from 41.16%?9.83% to 47.50%?9.07% in the BM-MNC group (P=0.020) but there was no significant change in the control group. Significant differences existed between the 2 groups in their absolute change before and after the procedure in both LV dimension and LV function (P=0.046 and P=0.030 respectively). The results showed reduction of collagen content in the border and the remote infarct regions in the BM-MNC group compared with the control (P=0.047 and P=0.034 respectively). Conclusion BM-MNCs transplantation regulates collagen content in heart and attenuates the degree of post-MI LV dilation and the development of infarction area. This effect of BM-MNCs transplantation may be one of the mechanisms which intervene ventricular remodeling following myocardial infarction.

Objective To investigate the effect of early warning face pattern of weight combined with health education in weight management of maintenance hemodialysis patients. Methods Toally 223 maintenance hemodialysis patients hospitalized in the hospital from July to December 2014 (17,617 cases of hemodialysis) were set as the control group and 223 maintenance hemodialysis patients from January to June 2015 (17,281 cases of hemodialysis) were set as the experiment group. The control group was given routine health education and the experiment group was given health education and early warning face pattern of weight. The two groups were compared in terms of the ratio between interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) and interdialytic dry weight ratio (IWGR) as well as the hemodialysis-related complications. Results The IDWG/IWGR ratio in the experiment group was significantly better than that of the control group (P<0.05).The incidence of hemodialysis-related complications were significantly lower than that of control group. Conclusion Early warning face pattern of weight used in health education can effectively control the patient's interdialytic weight gain (IDWG) and reduce the hemodialysis-related complications.

Objective To evaluate a modified liver hanging maneuver(retrohepatic tunnel of the IVC) in patients undergoing hemihepatectomy. Methods Twenty-four patients undergoing hemihepatectomy were divided into two groups:modified liver hanging maneuver group(n=12)and Pringle's maneuver group(n=12).The amount of intraoperative bleeding, operation time, postoperative liver function, liver function recovery and complications were compared between the two groups.Reset All operation were performed successfully and there were no difference in the time of operation etween the two groups. There was a difierence in the amount of mean intraoperative blood loss between the two groups. It was(160±40)ml in liver hanging group and(560±120)ml in Pringle's group(P<0.01).Liver function recovery measured on postoperative day 3 and day 7 was better in liver hanging groupthan that in Pringle's group(P<0.01).The volume of postoperative peritoneal serous fluid dranage was significantly less in liver hanging group(P<0.01).Conclusion The modified liver hanging maneuver is useful for hemihepatectomy.

Objective To investigate the protective effects of midazolam on noise-induced hearing loss in guinea pigs by testing reactive oxygen species (ROS) level in the cochlea and plasma SOD and MDA. Methods Totally forty male pigmented guinea pigs were randomly divided into four groups: control (C) , midazolam (M), normal saline (S) and noise-induced deafened (D) groups, with ten guinea pigs in each. Groups M, S and D were exposed to a continuous noise (4kHz , octave band, 100dB SPL) 3h every day for 3 consecutive days. Group M was treated with midazolam, which was administered intramuscularly (0.1mg/kg) 24h before noise exposure, and immediately upon and during noise exposure. Group S was exposed to noise and treated with the same volume of normal saline intramuscularly, the time of injection was the same as that of Group M. Group C was not exposed to noise, but was treated with midazolam intramuscularly, the time of injection and the dosage were the same as those of Group M. Group S was exposed to noise and treated with normal saline intramuscularly ,the time of injection was same with that of Group M.Group D was exposed to noise only. All animals received auditory brainstem response (ABR) threshold recording before and immediately after noise exposure. Blood was collected when the guinea pigs were killed after the last ABR threshold recording, and serum SOD activity and MDA content were detected. Both the cochleae were removed and prepared for ROS assay. Results After noise exposure, ABR threshold shift (1.6±1.5) and ROS content [(291.10±2.30)u/mL] in Group M were significantly lower than those in Groups S and D [41.7±3.3, 44.3±3.9; (348.52±3.60)u/mL, (315.56±6.70)u/mL, P<0.05]. Serum SOD activity and MDA content were significantly increased in Group M, but the amplitude was less than that in Groups S and D.Conclusion Midazolam can prevent noise-induced hearing loss by reducing the increased ROS level in the cochlea after noise exposure.

Objective To investigate the function of acid pocket in reflux esophagitis. Methods The 15 healthy controls and 24 reflux esophagitis patients were identified by reflux disease questionnaire (RDQ) and gastric endoscopy. The location of subjects' lower esophageal sphincter (LES) was determined by 4 channel esophageal manometry system. Then a single-channel pH electrode was positioned 1 cm below the distal border of the LES to monitor fasting pH for half an hour. After a standard meal, the pH was continuously measured for two hours. Then the electrode was moved to 5 cm above the proximal border of the LES to monitor the dynamic pH for 24 h.Results Acid pocket was found in 16 cases of reflux esophagitis patients(66.67%) and 10 cases of healthy individuals (10/15). Acid pocket occurred earlier in reflux esophagitis group than healthy controls [11.00(4.25-17.00) min vs 30.00(15.50-54.25) min, P<0.05], and the average pH value was lower [1.84(1.59-2. 19) vs 2.32 (1.96-2.71), P<0.05]. There was no statistic difference in mean pH value of gastroesophageal junction and the duration of acid pocket before the meal. Conclusion There is abnormal acid reflux in reflux esophagitis patients, and acid pocket with earlier occurrence and lower pH value may relevant to esophageal mucosal impairment.
